Summary; Rose has been dying to watch the Doctor shave for months. Why? No one really knows.

Rose has been trying to catch the Doctor shaving for months now. It's more difficult than one might imagine because she sleeps so much and he sleeps so very little. He's got so much time around the flat to do mundane things like shave. She thinks it's also become something of a game, to shave when she's asleep or not there. In any case, he's been in the loo for a while now. She's paced by the door a few times and the shower is not on. It's also awfully quiet in there. While he could be doing something else, she's just got a feeling that he's shaving while she's there and purposely not letting her watch. How dare he?

She stops mid pace, moves over to the door and knocks on it. "You're doing it, aren't you? I'm right here and you're doing it!"

It's a very fortunate thing they don't have more room mates to think they're both insane.

He's started to pull the hem of the towel up to wash away the extra foam and such and then abruptly realises that is not a good idea and turns to pull a washrag down for the same purpose. All cleared off, she's done a pretty good job of it, and he's still ridiculously amused.

'I'm not entirely sure I believe that but okay, Miss Tyler.' Seriously, he looks at it in the mirror and then drops his chin to his chest to try and see it a bit better - which totally doesn't work - and then shakes his head a little and gets the lather back on his face to finish the job.

She smirks at his towel/washrag conundrum and decision. She's glad he's amused. It could have been a disaster if he hadn't been amused.

She just giggles at his attempts to see his chest better then sits back on the toilet to watch him lather up again. "Oi, I have spur of the moment decisions all the time."

Well, he does know that it's going to grow back, and honestly. Rose is the only one who ever looks at his chest anyway, so he doesn't really have much reason to care. It's just another thing that's just between the two of them, and he sort of likes those. They are reminders of their life in the TARDIS when it was just the pair of them for weeks and months on end and they were their own little microcosm unto themselves.

'Oh, of that I'm well aware. Spur of the moment to run off like a danger magnet, every single time we go somewhere.' He's pretending to be long-suffering but the look on his face plainly makes it clear that he's joking. He's totally aware he gets into just as much trouble as she does. Shave, shave.

True. He doesn't just walk around shirtless. It is a little sort of secret kind of thing and she loves those, like the ultimate inside joke. They do tend to do the microcosm where ever they are, sort of a quality of their relationship, forgetting that other people exist. She and the Doctor before him rarely ever did that, only when dancing.

She snorts a bit, smirking at him because yes, she knows he's joking. "Still think you'd get bored if I didn't."

And she does, though that's not why she wanders off.

It doesn't take very long to do this when you're not carving in fancy patterns or being ridiculous with your chest hair, so when he turns to glance at her via the mirror in response to that comment, he's already about halfway finished.

'Of course I would! That hardly changes your status was trouble-magnet.'

She stands up, dips under his arm and sidles between the sink and his body again then reaches up to trail her fingertips over the freshly shaved skin.

"Oi. Was? Might have to see 'bout gettin' in some trouble here, Doctor if you're goin' to start usin' past tense on me."

That effectively immediately halts all progress on the matter at hand, as though her presence during the entire process hasn't been quite hindering since she first came in the room to begin with. He finds that he still really doesn't mind.

'Past tense? What past tense. You're still entirely trouble. Humany-shaped ball of pink-and-yellow trouble.'

She's glad he doesn't mind. She'll definitely come in next time she catches him shaving again. He'll start locking the door and insisting that 'no he is not shaving' even when he is. She's fascinated by the feel of his freshly shaved skin underneath her fingertips. She's like to compare it to the stubbled side but that's covered in shaving cream.

At his confirmation she's still trouble, not to mention the pink-and-yellow descriptors he uses so often for her, she grins.

"All right then. Saved your skin there. Thought I was goin' to have to run head long into the Underground at night."

Yes this is likely how that will manage to play out. I see no alternative, really. Also she's welcome to wipe it off a bit if she wants to play with his face. If he's going to let her lather him up with the stuff I doubt he'll protest to her removing a bit of it either.

A vaguely exaggerated sigh of relief. And then a thought.

'Have we not done that? We ought to do that if there's a long enough period of time when nothing's happening. Not for long, mind, because that blasted clock is... Well, blasted. But for a bit of adventure maybe. I haven't been down there more than about twice so far. Prefer the open air, if I'm honest.'

In that case, she runs her fingertips over the freshly shaved side of his face then sweeps her other hand over the lathered side, grinning at the difference. He rarely looks like he needs to shave, just a bit of a shadow on his face. There's definitely a difference in the way it feels though.

"Don't think so. Could play hide and seek." And then a bit of a furrowed brow, his face still between her hands. "Go down there to find bits and parts? Don't think I've been down there at all."

It feels a bit weird to him, being on the receiving end of the face skin part. Not bad weird. Possibly even good weird. Peculiar, we'll say.

'Exploring, once, when I'd first got here. Then took a train later. Nothing big. Like I said, the clock down there bothers me, so I tend to make the trips spare and short.'

Peculiar is fine. She runs her fingertips along his jaw against the grain of his stubble and smooth skin, then with it.

"Heard it's bit dangerous. Be all right with you there though."

With the repetition it's crossing into good-weird and he's closing his eyes to appreciate it.

''Course you would. Although you say that as though I'm not dangerous too.'

Good weird is a much, much better option. A smile sort of quirks her lips as she watches him appreciate the feeling. She shifts a little, ceasing her exploration of his half stubbled face for a moment to sit up on the sink. She returns to it as soon as she's settled.

"'m not scared of you, Doctor."

It's said playfully, but it's also serious. She knows the scariest things in the universe are scared of him. She knows he's done some very scary things. It's important that he always know, she's not scared of him.

He opens one eye when she ceases but keeps making noise in front of him, observing her process, then closes it again when she goes back to what she'd been doing.

'Well, I suppose you shouldn't be. Everything else though...'

And he appreciates that. It's nice having someone in the universe who will put her foot down and say that they are watching what she wants to watch on telly, and he can just go sit with himself next door and watch whatever they both feel like. Or, you know, something like that.

"Ought to quake in fear?"

Exactly. There's only so much History and Discovery channel a girl can watch, particularly when he keeps up a running commentary of how wrong they're getting this all. Sometimes she has to make him watch Britain's Next Top Model with her. The commentary for that is much funnier and generally ends up in them both doing their own versions of X or Y's runway walk.

'Precisely. They can shiver instead, alternately, if they don't feel like quaking, but they have to be wearing boots.' Because this line of thought isn't at all ridiculous when it's said by a man who is effectively being pet while standing in his bathroom in a towel.

They get so many things wrong though Rose how can you tolerate that much inaccuracy. Secretly - or not so secretly probably - most of the protests against her television shows are token, if only because the commentary does make her laugh and that's very much always a good thing. And he does a fabulous catwalk.

"We'll put that edict out. When meetin' the Doctor, must wear boots." Not in the least bit ridiculous.

Because if she really, really is bothered by the inaccuracy, she can make him take her to certain points in history to see the truth. It's so much better than watching it on the telly. Yeeeeah, not so secretly for the most part. He does a catwalk that would make Ms Tyra Banks jealous and they do have a lot of fun when watching her shows.

'Mmm, made for running, not walking.'

And when he's really, truly bothered by the inaccuracy, or just, you know, bored enough, he grabs her hand and shows it to her anyway. There's just an understood reputational and role-playing type thing that has to be maintained.

"Running boots. Think they make that kind? Always seem a bit clunky to me."

She shifts a little, one leg on either side of him, her toes sort of wiggling against his knee. Yes, she likes that he does that, just takes charge and shows her the world, or history as the case may be. Of course there is!

'Only if you clomp around in 'em. If they fit well, you can get great boots for running. Ankle support and all that.'

His eyes blink open, just halfway, when she shifts, watching her to a different position, and then twitching his knees away from the wiggling, tickley touch of her toes around that area.

The wriggling just makes her more determined to tickle him with her toes so she shifts a little, stretching her leg around to tickle the back of his knee with her toes. She bites the tip of her tongue to keep from laughing as she does.

"Might have to look for new boots. Not that 'm goin' to be shakin' in 'em."

He pulls closer to the counter, pressing against it, to try and get away from her toes and that tickling. It's very distracting.

'You need shoes?'

That gets a laugh out of her and she shakes her head, taking advantage of him being closer to wrap her legs around his waist.

"Nope, but it got you closer, didn't it?"

He's so pleased with that laugh. He wants to hear it as often as possible. With her legs around his waist and himself pushed up against the counter, there's not a whole lot he can do, movement-wise, but at the moment, he doesn't really care. He's happy.

'Sure seems to've done. You sneaky little minx. What are we supposed to do now?'
