Showtime.

Percy couldn't ever remember being more nervous. This wasn't just him, wasn't just his dreams riding on this. This was what Fred and George had wanted, what they had planned for themselves. Ginny was somewhere in the shop, and he hoped she wasn't as nervous. But then, she was better at this sort of thing than he was. She was good at engaging people, at making them like her. He was good at talking, good at speeches and statements - but would that translate?

Even his outfit made him nervous. Nothing in a wardrobe full of somberly colored three piece suits and perfectly coordinated ties and shoes said 'joke shop.' Not that he ever would have worn the suits Fred and George had preferred - but they might have suited the mood a little better. Eventually, he'd chosen the brown suit Rose had picked out for him and a tie with blue, red, and grey stripes, and he hoped for the best.

The bell above the door jingled, and he took in a breath to steady his nerves as he stepped forward.

"Welcome to Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes!"

[No, she isn't nervous. Ginny doesn't do nerves, not where people can see, and this is such a happy occasion after all the difficulties the family (well, what's left of it) has gone through—she can't help but beam, be pleased that it's come to this, that the shop hadn't fallen into disrepair and abandon like it had the last time the twins left.

So, yes, Percy's spot-on: his sister is weaving expertly through the shop and patrons, ready with a friendly greeting and an explanation for whatever products are on the shelves. (And no, she isn't above biting back a warning just so you can find out for yourself!) As for the dress code, well, gold's always been her colour—but she isn't about to try and outdo the twins on flash and lets the overall Weasleyness of the shop speak for itself.]

Rose arrives a bit later in the afternoon, probably a bit toward evening. She's had all the coddling and staying in bed she can handle for the moment. It probably took a good deal of convincing to get the Doctors to let her out to see what was up at the magic shop but she's hear and she's got a smile, a bit tired, but still a smile, for Percy.

'Least you've got a smart suit for the occasion."

Of course she's going to compliment his suit!

He gives her a smile in return as he brushes a bit of nonexistent dust from the lapels of his jacket.

"I had some help in picking it out." He doesn't miss how drawn and tired she looks. "How are you feeling?"

His comment makes her smile and she reaches out to straighten a lapel that doesn't need straightening.

"Bit rough 'round the edges, but 'm okay now."

"I'm glad." His smile is brief, but genuine. "Is there anything I can interest you in today, Miss Tyler?"

She gives the shop a look around. "Somethin' pink and yellow maybe?"

"You might be interested in the Wonder Witch line, then." He offers her his arm, gesturing towards a rather violently pink section on one of the walls. "They're products specially designed for witches - cosmetics, love potions, that sort of thing, and as you can see, they are quite pink."

Rose tilts her head to one side while she examines the product line. She reaches out and picks up what looks like a tube of lipstick. "What's this one do?"

"That's the Kiss Me Quick love potion," Percy replies, indicating for Rose to turn the lipstick around so she can see the label. "It's applied like regular lipstick, and if the wearer kisses someone, that person will be infatuated with you for up to twenty-four hours."

"Really? So you've got to keep up the kissin' if you want them to remain infatuated." She puts the lipstick back. She'd rather not have anything romantic if it wasn't real.

She picks up a compact with the label Powder Me Perfect and looks to Percy. "Perfect complexion? Might could go for a bit of that."

Personally, Percy thinks her complexion is already nearly flawless, but it won't do to say that. "That utilizes a very mild Color-Changing Charm to cover uneven skin tones," he explains, touching his own cheekbone with his thumb to indicate the spray of freckles there. "For instance, if I used it, it would charm the skin here to match the not freckled skin."

Percy is incredibly sweet. She smiles at him. "Personally, I like freckles."

And she does. She's told the Doctor the same thing.

"Work on circles under your eyes?" She could keep the Doctors from realising how tired she is if it does.

"As well as it would any other facial blemish." He glances at her, concerned, but he knows he can't say anything - since he's used it on occasion to cover the smudges under his eyes. "Here, allow me to demonstrate." He unhooks his arm from hers and gestures for her to hold out her hand.

She does as he asks, holding her hand out, palm up. She's watching him carefully, not out of wariness but out of curiosity.

As far as the smudges under her eyes...she sleeps better than she used to but exhausted is a normal state for her. The Doctors don't sleep anywhere near as much as humans do. She tries to keep up.

He points to a freckle on her inner arm. It's not particularly big or noticeable, but it'll do for his purposes. Popping open the compact, he picks up the brush and dusts some powder onto the bristles, then carefully dusts it over the freckle. Within seconds, Rose's body heat activates the charm, and the freckle fades away.

"The powder is guaranteed to stay in place for eight hours," he adds. "All-day wear."

She gapes at the way the freckle absolutely fades. She leans a bit closer to her skin, then squints her eyes before straightening up.

"That's brilliant. Absolutely sold."

He smiles, small but genuine. Despite all their differences, he's fiercely proud of his brothers, and he's also proud they chose him to carry on with their business. "Are there any other products I can interest you in? Some Sticky Trainers, perhaps?"

He gets a confused look in return. "What are sticky trainers?"

"This way." He leads her away from the violently pink display to an equally violently orange one, displaying what appears to be a perfectly ordinary pair of trainers. Picking one up, he shows it to Rose, then puts it on the nearest wall. It sticks.

"They stick to walls and ceilings," he informs her. "I believe they can safely support up to two hundred pounds."

Her eyes go wide and a big smile spreads across her lips. "Blimey. I've got to get the Doctor a pair. He'll drive everyone barmy with 'em. They're fantastic."

She's trying not to think too hard about just how crazy the Doctor is going to drive everyone with the trainers.

"The point of them is to annoy people, so at least he'll be putting them to their intended use." His voice is dry. "That and reaching things in high-up places. Does he need to do that often?"

"Don't tell him that. He'll try doubly hard."

She bites her bottom lip and considers it a moment. "Not terribly? He's a bit tall anyhow."

[aperfectthird]

"Well, regardless." Percy smiles briefly. "He'll be doing precisely what the twins intended people would do with them, reaching things in high places or not."

[iwasherefirst]

"Good." She smiles at Percy. "Think they'd want that, yeah? You sellin' things to people that'll be used the way they were intended."

[aperfectthird]

"They'd think it was hilarious," Percy corrected her, shaking his head slightly. "I'm sure that's why they left me the shop, for a laugh."
