-- they'll be happy to know that as I saw you go
When: Friday 8th of June, evening time.
Rating: PG-13, but he'll probably have a potty mouth, so fair warning.
Characters: Bucky Barnes (
yourbestguysgun) and open to anyone who'd be at the Blue Light. Feel free to have been there with him for a long time.
Summary: Somebody's a super friendly drunk given the right opportunity for it.
Log:
The last time Bucky was happy like this, he was surrounded by his team, his friends, leaning against the bartop in uniform and teasing the ever loving hell out of his best friend. He tries not to think about it too often, mostly because it feels a little bit like it's way above his own understanding. He can deal with a lot of things, but dimension hopping is a stretch. Of course he misses it, the Howling Commandos, the camaraderie, the sense of belonging, but the City isn't so bad when it's not jerking his chain, and he likes the people he's gotten to know.
Most of them, anyway.
He's been drinking - quite a bit, actually, - but more as a sign of how good he feels today, laughing at Steve and the rest of his friends, and heckling the band to play something he recognises. It's an easy feeling, and it seeps into his posture, shirt sleeves rolled up, animated as he talks. His beer is clutched in one hand, half-empty as he waves it.

Holey moley, that is some swell trick Miss Weasley.
[ Tracking the glass with his eyes. ] So, the stick? It's like your source of power?

It's a wand, thank you very much. And it's possible to do magic without it, but not nearly as controlled, and I can only think of one wizard who could really do it. [Dumbledore.] We get our first wand at eleven years old.
[Now letting that blob of beer split into two and then four and so on, dancing around through the air.]
But we're born with magic. [This as she directs the beer back into the glass.] It's just how I am.

He kind of feels like a six year old all over again. ]

Yeah, but you do little bursts of magic even before that. Mum says the first time she saw me use magic, I was levitating my stuffed animals when I was barely one. [She chuckles, sliding her wand away.] No surprise, I suppose, given how much I like flying now. Apparently I'm not too fond of the ground.

Yeah? Your teddies like heights?
no subject
Unicorns, actually.

[She pauses, then adds - ]
They have them in the zoo here, you know.

Hell, you can tell me more about your magic too.

I'd love to, Bucky. [A little sheepishly,] Honestly, I'm just glad you don't think it's weird or mad. I've had to keep it quiet around some friends, you know? Because of the sorts of worlds they'd come from.

'Cool' makes her feel a little bit special, okay.]
Thanks.

[But she knows he's right and she heaves a dramatic sigh and claps a hand on his shoulder.]
I'll come back around with another beer. [Brightly,] Give a shout if you need anything else.

[ Because he would punch everyone, so. ]
