Sometime Thursday everyone no matter their age (barring the residences of Setsuna Muduo, the angel Michael, and anyone Hatter has been able to determine as friends of the one called Ikki) in the City will have received a notice inviting them to a party on the outer edge of the City.

The address leads to a modest little place with garden and labyrinth that has been decorated in smoke, fog and glow sticks. There is live music thanks to Curt Wild & Time Bomb, food, drinks of the alcoholic and non varieties, along with some more atypical treats (do be careful which pills you mix with which).

The host of the evening, the Master of Ceremonies so to speak, is a quaint thing harlequin painted for those who've yet to meet nem. Do feel free to mix and mingle, the night is quite young and it is a party after all. Just don't forget the overall theme: it's not a real party until everyone's clothes come off.

Just be care of the maze...there's at least one psychotic vampire on the prowl.

[He's been caught up in the festivities. The warm prey dotting the dancefloor. The bright lights and thumping music. Little palliatives to soothe the ache of Saya's absence. After days of brooding and fits of rage, he needs the movement.]

[Dancing isn't as good as fighting or feeding. But it's in the ballpark. He breaks away only when he spots Aion's figure ahead. The white suit puts him in mind of Solomon. But only for a moment. His brother - as a sign of renouncing Diva - dons black now.]

[The demon certainly saw a familiar face here and there but that was expected. This was Hatter and with all those who enjoyed splurging on their own vices were bound to be here. He briefly conversed with a drunk or two near the bar to stick to his main focus of the night when he too spots a fellow housemate. Ah, no, prisoner was it? If Solomon ends up showing up, he supposed he could take on the supervising role as well though truly he couldn't have cared less.]

Enjoying yourself?

[Aion offered a smile as he walked to met him half way.]

[Aion will learn about the - enchantment - soon enough. Solomon spends these days a fawning servant. In thrall to Merlin's 'accidental' spell. Convinced he's an incubus.]

[Suffice it to say, it leaves Karl with considerable freedom.]

For the first time in ages.

I was beginning to sink into a coma from boredom.

[He needs amusements. Distractions. Anything shiny and loud to blot out the fact that Saya is gone.]

[He lightly laughed to that.]

A coma. Bull shit. You of all people would have welcomed it with open arms if that were truly the case.

[Aion teased. The sleepless man. He couldn't imagine it.]

Well, certainly a good night for hunting. [He spoke in a low volume for only Karl to hear as he eyed all the preys within the room.]

Comas and dying aren't quite the same thing.

[ It isn't sleep he misses. It's the freedom of not having to think. ]

Hunting? [ A chuckle. ] That's the highlight of parties like these, isn't it?

[ And the labyrinth affords ample hiding places. ]

Met the hostess yet?

[ He's sure Aion has. Enjoyable as these parties are for Play, they open equal opportunities for Business. ]

A body left to perish. I see no difference. [He grinned with a light laugh.]

And yet, people knowingly flock to such events. One has to wonder. [Humans.]

Yeah. [He softly sighed.] Quite the character, don't you agree? [He took a sip of his drink.]

I'd prefer not to die by degrees, all the same.

[ It's one fell swoop, or nothing, for Karl. ]

Who can blame them? So little excitement - or danger to spice up their lives.

[ Pitiful things. ]

One of the more interesting so far. [ Tone dropping. ] Apparently she's thrown the party as part of a challenge with Lord Rido.

[He had to agree there.]

Oh?

[He raised a brow to hearing the last. The Pure Blood. Keeping himself busy as always.]

What kind of challenge? [Pulling his lips up in amusement to hearing this.]

[ Karl's had - past differences with Rido. Enough to color his tone with mild dislike. Although Karl dimly suspects it's better to have the Pueblood on his side - rather than against him. ]

A wager. With a reward to be decided afterward. I wasn't given further details.

[ A shrug. ]

Knowing Rido, the reward involves blood-drinking. Or enslavement.

[ He's gotten a good feel of how the despotic Pureblood's mind works. ]

[And a tone that was to be expected. He seemed to have quite the number of enemies after all.]

I see. [He smiled.] Sounds about right. [He paused to give it more thought.]

A challenge, hm? This evening may prove more interesting than I had anticipated.

[Hatter would be a good competition for him.]

[ A crooked grin. ]

My money's on Hatter, personally.

It would be amusing to see Lord Rido brought down a notch or two.

[ Toppled off his high-horse, he'd be less insufferable. More willing to accept Karl as an 'ally' again. ]

Is that a promise?

[He lightly teased and then mused to the thought of Karl having a hand in the matter somehow. He knew of what Rido was capable of but Hatter on the other hand not quite as much... hm. The demon had to wonder.]

Perish the thought.

I've lost one wager to Hatter already.

[ He had no hand in the bet between Hatter and Rido. Had spent most of that time, throwing a wild fit over Saya's departure from the City. ]

Oh, how so?

[He raised a brow in curiosity to what kind of wager it was. The more one knows the better.]

[ He lets off a self-deprecating little laugh. ]

Nothing serious.

Solomon and I swapped bodies last weekend. Dear brother kicked up such a fuss, you'd think he'd lost an arm.

I made a wager with Hatter. To see if he could land himself a date. Even with the seeming impediment of wearing my form.

[ Long story short, Karl lost. Bodyswapped or no, Solomon was smooth as ever. ]

[He recalled seeing something like that but paid little attention to it.]

Ah, right. Well, I'm certain there were confusion all around. You are a bit more social than your dear brother.

[He gave a light snicker to his misfortune. A simple bet and nothing more it seemed. Ah, well. He couldn't expect to find something juicy that soon he supposed.]

And, what was your bet? Money? Service?

Social? That's a new one.

[ He has to laugh again. Back home, Karl was the reclusive one - unless in one of his manic moods. Solomon was the social butterfly. ]

Is that what Solomon does here? Keep to himself?

[ He knows Big Brother has shifted allegiances. Sworn himself to Saya. Has it really affected his behavior - that much? ]

Service. The fun kind.

[ Pleasure or havoc. He hopes Hatter's idea of both isn't rearranging the mansion's furniture. ]

Ah, frankly, I'm not certain just how social he is (especially ones that didn't involve the underground) but certainly you make yourself openly known, I suppose you could say.

[He honestly spoke with a shrug.]

Then it's a push. [Neither side lost anything for that matter.]

[ A grin. ]

Well, I prefer to have fun. Rather than endure the alternative.

[ Bad enough being suicidal, without being suicidally bored. And Karl was always the straightforward one. Brazen. ]

Precisely.

So long as she doesn't make me don a butler's outfit. Or a maid's.

[Oh, the thought of it.]

It would make the lines clearer and suit the condition.

[Aion teased to make him think he'll possibly plant the idea on Hatter.]

Either way, the night is young. Let us go enjoy it, hm?
