When; This morning, during the Wild Wild West curse
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Eames, Ariadne, and YOU!
Summary; Eames and Miss A have just arrived to town on a tired horse. They'll need rooms, Eames needs to buy a new stallion, and they're looking to make nice (for now). Please feel free to reply with whatever location you'd like to run into both or one of them, treat it like an open action post!
And just for reference, Eamesie, Sunny, and Ariadne is in generally traditional western clothes for more-so upperclass skirts!
Log;
[ They're new to town, and it's obvious - and will continue to be for some time, until Eames gets them settled into whatever routine this particular down runs by. Sunny's steady underneath them with the guide of Ariadne at the reigns, though he's certain either way the horse wouldn't much need it. His own horse'd been shot down three provences backward so Sunny's had to bear the both of them for awhile, and it's a welcome sight to be coming across the City - a bit hot, a bit grimy, nothing like the groves of overseas where most of the fog had been smoke, not swept dust. He'd forced her to change to side saddle about a mile back to accomodate the fancy lining of her skirts, and he's debating asking to take the head but he figures she's at her limit already and it might earn him a nice smack to the cheek by this rate.
If there's anything Eames is particularly good at, though, it's appearances - and he'll sacrifice plenty of it, including Ariadne's mood, to set it right. They've not come all this way to settle as perminent outlaws - it's time to make something of a good life in these parts, even if they supplement their income by other means. No more with the banks and silks; it's been a hard decision to make, acknowleding the extent of one's limits, and a sad day that they've had to lose something in order to gain the sort of logic that only comes from experience.
He knows Ariadne isn't ready to stop, necessarily. But she's free to come and go if she truly wanted and it's a loud enough statement that she simply hasn't, yet.
Maybe because Eames hasn't removed his fat arse from her horse's back for the past three towns, but you know.
But a new town for now means a new set of faces, and Eames finds it refreshing enough as Sunny leads them into the City. They'll need to book a room at the inn, for starters - then Eames needs to buy a horse for himself, and see about making business. He taps Ariadne's side to direct them to it, hoping there's a bar on the first floor but it's either give or take most places, if not he might stop by the saloon at some point, skin for a deck of cards. As Ariadne brings Sunny to a slow halt, he slides off the horse with a grunt, lifting his arms to help Ariadne down when she's ready - or if she'll even take it, her stubbornness being much worse than her father's had. ]

But they're an odd pair, riding double like that and everything.
He leans against a post on the porch of one shop or another and watches. Why not?]

I suppose it's time to meet people, hmm?
[ "We're being watched and for the record I don't like you very much right now." ]

[ He's got Sunny's reigns in hand but his eyes move from Ariadne to the Stranger. His brows quirk up under the brim of his hat, but he lets the corners of his eyes crinkle in a bit of a half-smile, raising a hand. ]
Good morning.

Hello.

[ Sunny gets a pat to her neck before she shifts, holding up one hand to shield her eyes from the sun and get a better look at the stranger -- who gets a polite smile in response. She's still in a bit of a mood, so she'll let Eames lead, in case she puts her foot in her mouth. ]

Would you happen to know if those rooms are clean and well kept, stranger?
no subject
He's tempted to say that this newcomer would be up half the night shooting cockroaches, but that's not really true.]
I'd say they are.

[ Maybe it's a little forward -- and she doesn't mean it like that -- but she's not very good at holding her tongue. ]

[He kind of likes the lady. She's got spirit.]
no subject
That might do, then, hmm?
[ A glance at Eames -- she's made up her mind, at least. ]

I don't suppose you know of any job openings in town? Decent places to eat, so on and so forth.

[I mean, he knows the places he's found, but, really, he's a stranger here himself. And he likes it that way.]

GETTING OFF THE HORSE
I suppose you'll be putting her up, if there's no stablehand to do it.
[ It's less of an "I suppose" and much more of a "you will be doing this if the inn doesn't have someone to do it for you because your fat ass was an unwelcome burden on my horse and you made me wear these skirts". Still, she manages to keep her tone polite, words lightly accented with something from out East, a sign of education -- her daddy may have been just like Eames, but her mother always had higher hopes for her girl, when she was alive. It's her eyes that give her away, to those who know how to look -- and Eames does. ]
YEAH YOU GET THE HELL OF THAT HORSE B(
[ More of a "don't you sass me before I make you sleep with the horse but then you'd probably enjoy that much better, wouldn't you, and it'd save me the price of two rooms..." but he's digging a hand into his pocket to pull out a few bank notes, handing them off to her. He pulls the reigns up off Sunny's great head, the palomino lowering it for him to make the process easier, though she huffs all the same. ]
Two separates with an adjoining door would be the most convenient, though this place isn't the fanciest of establishments.
IT'S MY HORSE GOSH!!!
Of course.
[ Though she does continue, a bit more quietly. ]
And what am I to tell them I am to you, should they ask? Your ward? I may look younger than I am but that won't hold up for long.
w-well!! baka ariadne!!
[ Though more her father's tradition than his own. He looks thoughtful, though, patting Sunny's thick neck. He could suggest daughter, but the wound is still fresh for the lot of them. ] Cousin, friend, wife. It's your turn to choose. If it's the latter, our wedding bands - and my horse - were stolen.
ur a baka
[ Yes, definitely fresh. ]
Wife may keep more unwanted attention away, though it may make things more difficult, as well. Cousin... well, if you get people calling on you to court me as my closest male relative, you'll have to tell me all about it.
[ And only agree to the handsome ones. ]
weh
It'll do. Second cousins, robbed all the same, looking for work and eventual entrepreneurship. [ He scrubs at his unshaven jaw, head tipping mildly. ] We'll see - ferrying messages from men will cost you.
she lauves you rly
It would hardly do if they were to approach and ask if I'd considered their proposal when I hadn't heard anything of it, my dear cousin. [ Still, she steps away, waggling her fingers at him before slipping into the inn to see about the rooms. She'll be back shortly. ]
sometimes B(
Horse backwash. How much are the baths, here?
It'll be good to get proper rest, tonight at least - though Eames has difficulty sleeping in new places, he might be tired enough to doze off into a deeper sort of sleep. He may dream, but his dreams aren't of good things as of late, so he could do without. ]
most times!!!
Inside the inn she haggles with ease, obviously practiced, throwing in some batting of her eyelashes and making sure to specify that she needs the stable for her horse, as well as an empty stall for the future. There's the honeymoon suite, the man -- an assistant, by the looks of things -- awkwardly stammers, and she laughs and tells him that she's simply traveling with her cousin. He blushes and then has to apologize profusely, telling her they don't have two rooms that are attached, but he does offer her a slight discount (she's sure he'll regret it later, but oh well). The key is placed in her hand, some of the bank notes are placed in his, and she heads back outside to find Eames. ]
We've one room with two beds and a curtain to separate it. There is a tub already in the room, however, and we've two stalls for the horses, as well as a slight discount because I'm pretty.
no subject
[ He forces himself up, though, patting some of the dust off his trousers. ] If you want to have them send water up to the room, I'll untack Sunny while you wash up from the road and take my turn afterward.
no subject
Nodding, she takes out the remaining bank notes and passes them back. ] The room is number five. Second floor, as the first seems to have a sitting area -- though it seems the town has no shortage of saloons, as he attempted to babble about places I should be careful of. [ Snort. ]
no subject
Though do be sure to lock the door while you're bathing. [ He'll just pick it if he gets back earlier than her finishing - she does have a lot of hair, after all. He could just use some of hers, in the end. He unlatches one of the saddle bags - Ariadne's - and hands it off to her, the one with some of her clothing and essentials.
This time, it's his turn to waggle his fingers perhaps excessively before leading Sunny to the stables. He'll be bringing the rest of the bags and the saddle itself (it's a nice one, he wont be surprised if someone tries to steal it if he leaves it out) to the room when he's done brushing and cooling her off. ]
