So. Charlie was doing it. She was getting married. To Merlin. She couldn't do this in her universe. Not at all. She couldn't even be honest for a second about anything but here in this stupid City, she had a chance at something beautifully normal. And she loved Merlin too much to do anything but marry him.

As unpredictable as the City could be with it's residents, this still seemed like the best idea. This, of course, meant a dress and Charlie asked for help from Pepper and Rapunzel, if only just to look. And also, because she now had female friends in her life that she could talk to about getting married.

The teashop was in the care of one of the ~~npc~~ staff and Charlie sat outside the house she shared with Arthur and Merlin, waiting on Rapunzel and Pepper with what was probably a permanent soft smile on her face.

Pepper was more than glad to help Charlie plan her big day. She's always been a fan of weddings, even planning out the huge fairytale one for herself... which she slowly came to accept she would probably never have.

Still, that's not what today was about. Today was about helping Charlie look fabulous. Pepper walked up the street towards Charlie's house with a smile on her face, ready for whatever the day had in store.

"Hey, Charlie!"

Ah! Pepper! Charlie's grin grew, if that was even possible, and she waved at Pepper before standing and failing to walk over casually. She practically bounced over, hugging the older woman.

"Hi! Thanks for coming! How are you?" Charlie was clearly made of energy right now. She's unable to hold still.

Pepper returns the hug, and when they pull apart she takes Charlie's hand. "I'm good! I'm good. And how are you today?"

Charlie just can't help herself right now. She shrugs, trying to play it cool, like the biggest moment of her life is coming soon.

But she really can't help the grin on her face. "I'm fantastic. And clueless as to where to go for wedding attire. Or...how to plan a wedding at all."

Rapunzel is practically skipping as she makes her way down to Charlie's house, a small sketchbook in hand. She can jot down some of Charlie's ideas for the wedding, the dress, the cake, basically everything...there's a very good chance she's going overboard.

But she doesn't care. Her best friend is getting married!

"Charlie!"

And Charlie has a ton of ideas for Rapunzel. She saw quite a few dresses today and knows what she wants. Now, how to describe it.

"Hi, Rapunzel! You hungry? I was thinking we could talk over dinner?"

"Good idea! I brought a notebook, so I can write down stuff for you."

She grins and nods, showing off her notebook.

"I wanna hear all your ideas!"

"Awesome. Just...not here? I want to surprise Merlin with the dress," she said, smirking slightly. She had a lot of surprises for Merlin, honestly, and would tell Rapunzel about them later. She had to tell someone or she'd explode. Keeping a secret from someone she loved wasn't that easy.

"We can pick up lunch somewhere and go to Xanadu. I was planning on having the wedding there, so I think maybe we can gain inspiration for things in the rose garden or something?"

"No, I understand. Save the big reveal for the altar, it'll make the moment even more special."

She grins, fighting back a giggle.

"That sounds great! It's a perfect setting!"

"Exactly. He's going to have quite a few surprises, that day." Charlie smirks, heading down the street and tilting her head for Rapunzel to follow.

"How good are you at keeping secrets?"

Rapunzel grins, before giving her hair a slight tug.

"Uh, pretty good, I think."

"You absolutely cannot tell Merlin this. It's...I want to surprise him on our wedding day." Charlie says, chewing her lower lip briefly. She's nervous, sure, but she trusts Rapunzel. She was family, more than anything else.

"I helped make our wedding rings."

"Of course I won't! I don't want to ruin the surprise, that's part of the magic!"

Her eyes widen and she has to fight back an excited giggle.

"Ohmygosh, you did? Really? By yourself? That's so cool!!"

Charlie grins, bouncing on the spot briefly before shaking her head. "My friend, Luke, helped. He made them special, too."

She was pleased by all of this.

"So. Food. What should we do for food?"

"Oh, I know Luke. He blew up the sewers once."

Yeah, that's her extent of knowledge when it comes to Luke. But she likes him anyway.

"Food...well, we obviously need cake, and I want your input on all the food. What are yours and Merlin's favorites?"

"Yeah, I remember that day. I might have gotten a little singed." Charlie thinks about the question for a moment, tilting her head a bit. "We were...thinking of small appetizers and things? Nothing major. I kind of like the idea of people walking around and socializing."

And then, she perks up a bit. "Do you remember those shrimp skewers we made last summer? The ones on the sugar cane sticks?"

Those were her favorite things. As for cake....huh.

"I like vanilla cake, if I eat cake at all. Merlin, I'm...not entirely sure." Oops.

"When I was still new here, I catered a big party for Mr. Stark, so I can definitely do lots of little appetizers and the like."

She grins and nods. She does indeed remember the shrimp they made over the summer. "Those are definitely on the list of food, don't worry. Do you want me to ask him what he'd like for cake?"

"I remember that. Christmas, last year. Right?" Charlie continued down the street, looking in the shop windows once they started getting near the clothing stores.

"That might be wise. I feel like the dumbest person, not knowing. All things considered, I should know but..." A shrug. She's still learning how to relationship, see.

"Do you see any dresses? Everything I see so far is winter shirts and jeans."

"I think so. It was hard work, but the payoff was great. Everybody was happy. I'd love to be able to do that again for your wedding."

Rapunzel shrugs, giving Charlie a friendly nudge.

"I don't think anybody really knows what they want when they start planning their wedding. It's all new to them, right? You can't expect to go in with a big elaborate plan."

She frowns. Charlie's right, all the displays are winter clothes.

"Wanna go in one of these stores and check them out?"

"I want something kind of small, anyway, even if this is my only chance for this. Here and outside the City," Charlie says with a shrug. She continues looking in shop windows, sighing and wrinkling her nose.

"You know what? I see no wedding dresses at all." Apparently marriage in the City just wasn't that big a deal. Which made sense to Charlie.

She continues looking up and down the road, finally spotting a book store with a cafe.

"What if we look through some magazines? Plus, they have food."

"You know...if you had a design in mind, I could make a dress for you."

Rapunzel shrugs, smiling as they go into the cafe.

"We can look for inspiration in these, yeah?"
