Rating; Unknown, but Circus-related body horror in many threads

Summary; Bruce has ended up treating several of the Circus' victims and now they're cluttering up his lab and apartment. Open post for people to visit Luke, Serrure, and Asami or pester Bruce (and possibly Sif)

Bruce's lab and apartment hadn't been intended as a makeshift hospital ward, but there they were. He'd set Asami up in his bedroom and Luke and Serrure were still kept in separate rooms to keep their magnetism from dragging their wounded bodies back together.

He's immediately available by network, but at the moment he's in his kitchen brewing up some chamomile tea. More accurately the water's heating and he has his forehead pressed against the stainless steel door of his fridge.

[So. So - lucky he made a joke just then, because that gives her an excuse to not let her gaze linger. She laughs, a sort of snort-like sound, very unladylike.] Quite literally, I think.

[She shrugs and looks away.] I do not think any human has been in awe of me since the first time I visited Midgard in my youth.

[He jogs. And also? The snort is far too endearing coming from a woman who is otherwise so beautiful that Bruce often has to work to keep his gaze appropriate.]

Yeah, well at least maybe he and I have finally found a place to meet in the middle.

[Pan meet heat. He brings the ingredients over to the counter to get his chopping done facing her while the eggs cook.] Do you want humans to be in awe of you?

[That jogging does him good. She jogs too. Unfortunately she can't prove it now because there is no pan to reach down for in order to help him. So all she has is her coffee cup, mostly empty by now, held between both hands.

She likes the way he chops the ingredients. Just a thought.

Her gaze snaps up, and her lips quirk in a smile just slightly.] It could be flattering, depending on the human, I think. [A pause.] I prefer respect and communication.

If they were all in awe of me, I fear I would go mad from the ticking. [Because then who'd talk to her? She finishes her coffee and sets it aside.] May I?

[If he helps, he's noticed. And there was that curse... the one with the underwear or lack thereof? Just sayin'.]

Respect's good. I think it's a good thing to want and you've gone a long way to earning it for me.

[He tilts his head trying to work out what she's asking for before offering her the knife, handle first.] Did you want to help out? Be my guest.

You have no idea. [Seriously, no idea. Women's Lib was practically nothing compared to becoming the first shieldmaiden, but that is a story she will tell if asked. She doesn't like to boast - that is more the realm of men.]

I think I too need to have things to do with my hands. [She says, taking the knife and pulling the board closer so she can start chopping.]

I didn't make much of a study of the [let's not say myths when talking to Sif, hm?] stories about your people, but what I remember seems like kind of a boy's club. Is that true? [He'd rather get people to talk about themselves anyway.]

Great. I'll mind the eggs. [And not think too hard about how peculiar this situation is.]

It is. [She chops the vegetables up with efficiency. Efficient - that's what she is. Maybe not the best cook, or the prime example of a lady of court (a lady would never cook), but she is efficient and that has always been so.] It took a lot of time and perseverance to convince them to let a woman fight at their side.

How did you pull that off? Other than being tough and handling knives like that? [Because he's sure she puts his cutting skills to shame.]

I befriended the princes. [She smirks and looks up, finally setting the knife down.] And wrestled with Thor when no-one else dared. I think that got me a fair start.

[Laughing softly, Bruce comes back to collect the cut vegetables to add to the first omelet.] No one dared to wrestle Thor? He looks like the kind of guy who would be wrestling all comers.

He would have. But there were many who hesitated to shove the crown prince's face in the mud, you see.

[She smiles fondly at the memory.] Though he would not have said a word if they had. He was not that kind of...how do you say it - sore loser.

No, from what I saw of him, he's a pretty amiable guy. God.

[He shakes the first omelet out onto a plate and pours the rest of the eggs into the pan before he sets the omelet in front of Sif with a fork.] Anything to drink?

Effusively so. [He'd forgive many wrongs, and that - she thinks - says a lot.

But enough about why Thor is awesome.] Water, please.

[Water coming right up before he turns back to tend to his own breakfast. The lull in conversation lets him think about other, less positive things and he's not ready for the short break to be over yet.]

I'm still expecting wild west movie night when things are less crazy. Are you still on?

[She looks up from her food, and nods.] I would like that. If things settle, if not when.

This is very good.

If. [He tosses the knife into the sink a little too roughly.] If it doesn't get better, I'm going to make it much worse.

I will assist. [She takes a sip of water.] And in the ruins and tears of our enemies, we can drag a couch and watch those movies.

[Well done, Sif, you distracted him from his mounting anger. He barks a laugh and the tension goes out of his shoulders.]

We might want something other than westerns for that.

[That gets her grinning.] I would be open to a musical, for poetic justice.

I'll let you pick. [He slides his omelet out onto a plate and cleans up perfunctorily before coming around to the other side of the breakfast bar to pull up a seat next to Sif.]

Edible?

I like it. [Proven by the fact that she's already eaten three fork-fulls. Because shut up Serrure she so knows how to use a fork.]

Good. [He settles in to eat, leaning up once over the bar to grab his tea, and keeps his head down until he's cleared half his plate.]

Thanks for coming up. [He steals a glance in her direction.] I probably spend too much time on my own, too.

I can say the same. [She finishes her food with a smile. It's a contrast to the tension from yesterday and the day before that.]

Thank you for the meal. I will remember to bring tea the next time.

Thanks. [He finishes his food and collects her plate with his to clean up.]

I have to believe things are going to get better. I can think about what to do if they don't, but I believe that they will.

Whichever the case, we will keep our feet on the ground, so to speak. You can let me know about their progress, if you wish.
