dance dance, we're falling apart to half time

Characters; Korra and her friends and anyone who happens to be in the club. Come one, come all!
Summary; Korra decides to celebrate 6 months in the City by dancing.
Log;She'd been woken up that morning by a incessant beeping noise; it took her a full three minutes to figure out it was her device and how to turn it off (she almost breaks it in her frustration, but she doubts she'd get any sympathy from Chekov if she broke yet another piece of electronic equipment).

What was so important that her device felt compelled to disturb her slumber?

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SIX MONTH ANNIVERSARY!

Who sent it? How did they know? Korra doesn't bother wondering. Six months… At first the thought horrifies her…but it hasn't been all bad. She fingers the necklace that Chekov had given her.

She can either spend the day distracted and wallowing, or she can remind herself of the good things she has here.

She decides to go dancing.

It's clear no one ever taught her how to get dressed for clubbing; she's just wearing her "I Mustache You A Question" t-shirt and Chekov's necklace, a strange combination of casual and fancy. Somehow she makes it work. And it's a bit early in the night for the club to really be rocking, but that doesn't slow Korra down any. She's in the middle of the dance floor, being taught some new moves by the club's regulars and just in general having a grand old time.

"Is she likely to get in a lot of trouble?" Miles looks over to where Korra's dancing it up on the floor. She looks carefree, which is a good thing, Miles supposes.

[anatural]

[Heeeeere she comes to save the day! She's carrying two bottles of water and smiling a little too brightly.]

At ease, soldier.

[She hands one of the bottles to him.] It's just a dance.

[anatural]

You two. Korra smiles, tight-lipped. "Six months!" It's cheerful, really. "And Jinora, you are not having fun. You're standing in a corner, scowling at me!"

[anatural]

Korra smiled and squeezed Tohru's hand.

"Yes."

Nothing like dancing to make the bad memories go away.

[anatural]

"Sorta. There aren't actually enough airbenders." There'd be none if Amon had won. "Basically, you've got two teams. Each team has a waterbender, an earthbender, and a firebender, and you try to knock the other players off the ring."

"I'm not scowling," she protests mildly, "and I don't know what to do. You know I don't like to dance."

Jinora shakes her head. "Trouble happens to Korra sometimes." She follows Mile's gaze; the Avatar really doesn't look like she's about to suffer any kind of trouble. It's a significant change from the last few weeks.

"She said you'd be here, too," Jinora adds. "That was another reason to come."

Thrilled by that - Tohru had rather enjoyed it - she led Korra back out there, hands still linked. It was only once they were on the dance floor she let go.

Lin looked like she wanted to say something about the idea of celebrating such a thing, but she held her tongue.

On that issue.

"I'm not sure you could call that dancing," she said, looking out onto the crowd.

[After spending some time studiously avoiding dancing, Jinora notices that the tall and handsome prince is doing the same thing. She really shouldn't bother him, but it is a party...]

Hello Sir Arthur Pendragon, knight of the realm and crowned prince of Camelot.

It's not celebrating so much as trying to look on the bright side before the dark side smothers her, but that's more than she really feels like getting into with them. Or anybody.

She scowls at them both. Party poopers. "What would you know about dancing, Chief?"

[anatural]

It's not just for serious conversations; Korra's a little overwhelmed by the noise of the club. She loves dancing, but she's not used to these kinds of crowds. She kind of needs a break.

She ignores his question in favor of continuing her own line of inquiry. "Do you remember anything more about what happened to you? That weekend before the ghouls?" She still doesn't understand what Hei could have done to make him forget. If she thinks about it, it's creepy.

But probably better for Chekov. Korra's life has gotten infinitely more complicated since finding out Li's secret, and while not all the results were bad... she doesn't want that for Chekov.

"Sweet. Do you play?" Seems like sports are the universal language.

[spiderkid]

"Yeah, well," Miles blushes slightly. "It's a slow night, and too cold to patrol."

[candothat]

He sighs as Korra ignores his largely unimportant questions to ask things he doesn't want to think about. "No, nothing more than I told you, not for certain. The drug that I was given makes it difficult to tell what may have been real."

It's grating on his nerves, all of this not-remembering. Chekov relies on his brain too much to be comfortable with it's inability to function properly.

She manages to remain oblivious to any and all blushing, including her own.

"Slow's better than having all of those monsters around."

[anatural]

She smiles a little sadly. "I used to." She can't anymore. Even if she was home, or there was a probending team here, she doesn't have her waterbending. All she could do is watch.

[anatural]

Korra decides she really doesn't like drugs. They take away your ability to move, your ability to remember. They suck.

"But you're okay, right?" She studies his face, looking for any sign that something is wrong. "I know you're not great, but you're gonna be okay?"

[candothat]

They're awful. Korra should be glad that McCoy isn't here any longer; he was very generous with his hypospray.

"Of course," Chekov answers. There's no sign that he's being anything but sincere. "Eventually, I will know what happened."

[anatural]

You really don't want to know. But it seems like he's okay, so she'll let it slide.

"Good." She reaches for his hand. "Now let's dance."

[candothat]

He brightens considerably. "Only if you're prepared to have your toes stepped on."

[anatural]

"You'd have to keep up with them first."

[candothat]

"That sounds like a challenge, Korra."

[anatural]

He gets a cheeky grin for that. "You think you're up for it?"

[candothat]

"A better question: are you?" he replies with one of those smiles that could be joking just as easily as it could be sincere.
