dance dance, we're falling apart to half time

When; Friday, January 18th, evening
Rating; PG
Characters; Korra and her friends and anyone who happens to be in the club. Come one, come all!
Summary; Korra decides to celebrate 6 months in the City by dancing.
Log;She'd been woken up that morning by a incessant beeping noise; it took her a full three minutes to figure out it was her device and how to turn it off (she almost breaks it in her frustration, but she doubts she'd get any sympathy from Chekov if she broke yet another piece of electronic equipment).

What was so important that her device felt compelled to disturb her slumber?

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SIX MONTH ANNIVERSARY!

Who sent it? How did they know? Korra doesn't bother wondering. Six months… At first the thought horrifies her…but it hasn't been all bad. She fingers the necklace that Chekov had given her.

She can either spend the day distracted and wallowing, or she can remind herself of the good things she has here.

She decides to go dancing.

-----------

It's clear no one ever taught her how to get dressed for clubbing; she's just wearing her "I Mustache You A Question" t-shirt and Chekov's necklace, a strange combination of casual and fancy. Somehow she makes it work. And it's a bit early in the night for the club to really be rocking, but that doesn't slow Korra down any. She's in the middle of the dance floor, being taught some new moves by the club's regulars and just in general having a grand old time.

Come join her?

Flustered, Tohru blushes.

"No," she answers, honestly, but then in a whispered voice tells Jinora, "But if you can keep a secret, back home there is a boy I feel that way about. I think. He is very special to me."

Jinora clasps her hands excitedly, but keeps her voice quiet. "Of course I can keep a secret. Do you love him?"
riceballfruit: (I want to face it all together (w/Kyo))

She looks wistful, not completely present for a moment, thinking back home, to Kyo.

"I'm not sure yet. I feel very strongly for him. I was putting everything together and figuring it out back home when I was brought here."

Strong feelings are a good start.

"I know you'll figure it out when you get home. Love always works out the way it's supposed to."

"I hope so," Tohru said, then, for a moment, smile softer, she admitted, "I miss him." Then, immediately, she brightened up and gave Jinora a stronger one.

"But I'm glad for everyone I've met here. And I know I'll see him again."

"Maybe he'll come here?" It's possible, and if they are in love, Jinora can see no alternative. "And I'm glad you're here now. If you would've stayed at home, I wouldn't have met you."

"But I wouldn't want him stuck here. He has enough problems," Tohru pointed out. "I mean, what if he didn't like it? Or it made him unhappy to be here. Or he got hurt in a curse. I don't want that."

But she shifted topic entirely at Jinora's point.

"You're right. I don't regret coming here. Meeting you, Korra, and everyone else. Even if I worry."
bookbending: (Happy: Talk)

"I didn't think of that." As much as Jinora hates to admit that something like being in a different dimension should be allowed to interfere with romance, Tohru has a very good point. Maybe it's selfish to want people in the City. Maybe Jinora's been selfish, wanting her family here for so long.

She shakes the thought off and smiles up at Tohru. "You don't need to worry now. Can we try dancing again?"

Tohru wouldn't think it selfish. She's sure Jinora's family would want to be with her, and it doesn't occur to her Kyo might feel the same way, that he would want to be with her, no matter where she was.

Seeing as Jinora changes the topic, though, Tohru leaves that, for now.

"Oh, of course! What else would you like to try?"
