[Open Log] Not so very far from here...

When; Around 10 pm on February 13.
Rating; PG-13 I would imagine.
Characters; Meyer Lansky, and anyone who either works at Lucky's or wants to come gamble!
Summary; It's basically just happy fun times at Lucky's. Or unhappy not fun times, if you decide to cheat or break things! Employees, gamblers, random people wanting a drink... all are welcome!
Log; As far as Meyer was concerned, ten at night was the best time to be at Lucky's. Everyone who worked there was there by then, and that meant he could take a break from dealing hands of poker to wander through the small card room and schmooze with the regulars, as well as greet everyone who came through the door.

As he made his rounds, he was solicitous, complimenting one man on how much money he'd won in a lucky game of blackjack, and commiserating with another man on his empty wallet once he'd lost several hands of poker. He was always suggesting people have another drink, stay for a little while longer, see if they couldn't get their luck back. Maybe just one more hand would win them everything.

If you walk through the door, you're likely to see a large crowd, but Meyer will make sure to push his way through it to greet you personally, shake your hand, and suggest that you take a seat. You never know, tonight might be your lucky night...

So far, Jack thinks he's been settling well enough into his new job here. It hadn't taken him long to pick up the card games, at least not to some passable skill, and taking care of the occasional drunk and disorderlies were nothing compared to some of the aggressive types he's had to deal with in the past. It might not seem like it to anyone from different circumstances, but he thinks it's a nice change of pace from where he came, and what he gets to look forward to upon leaving the City again.

Plus, the uniform is nothing if not flattering. He still isn't the kind of guy to particularly care about that sort of thing, but it's still something he notices, or rather something he's learned to notice since he first ended up here.

His lack of voice, however, is still something of a drawback — not a major one, not yet, just enough to cause him worry. He's managed to keep himself from vocalizing at all, thankfully, but sometimes he wonders if it's only a matter of time before that Big Daddy roar escapes his mangled throat.

Of course, it's not something he needs to worry about now. He has work to do, cards to deal and an atmosphere to help maintain, and if his utter silence helps him in that by keeping others from wanting to fuck with him, then he's ultimately better off for it.

Jack shakes his head in reply. It hasn't exactly been a slow night so far, but he hasn't seen anything particularly shady, at least not enough to warrant his attention. Really, though, if he had, Meyer might not need to ask; he'd surely know by now.

But so far, Jack hasn't had much need for anything beyond his own physicality when it comes to dealing with the local rabble. He still has his plasmids, of course, but he figures that he longer he can go without needing to use them — without needing to reveal the fact that he even has them, really — the better.

He gives Meyer an acknowledging nod, but he doesn't seem keen on taking a break anytime soon. Knowing his luck, it's only when he decides to take his leave that somebody else decides to start some shit, and that just wouldn't look good for anybody involved.

Ruby flashes Jack a smile as he passes by. She's seen him in passing over the few nights she's been working here, but hasn't had the chance to introduce herself yet. "How's it going?"

Jack can't help but look a little startled when she speaks to him. It's the first time she's ever spoken to him, after all, not to mention the fact that she's a beautiful woman, he admires her singing voice, and a whole host of reasons for him to be unnerved by the prospect of conversation with her. But his professionalism quickly kicks back in and, despite the flush apparent on his face, he manages to give her a mostly stoic nod.

Ruby's smile widens a little when she sees him blush - that's a reaction that she very much enjoys. She knows conversation might be a little difficult, but that's something she sees more as a challenge rather than meaning that she shouldn't engage with him at all. Besides, he seems like a sweet guy, if a little awkward around a pretty girl, and she's more than keen to get to know her co-workers.

"Do you have a break sometime soon? We should grab a drink."
