Of homunculi and meglomaniacs....

When; Day after What If day.
Rating; PG-13, because Greed can't control his mouth.
Characters; Greed [livejournal.com profile] so_very_greedy, Kuja [livejournal.com profile] purple_trance
Summary; Greed invites Kuja to dinner.
Log; Greed had set up a small, private area in the gardens Xanadu, covered by palm fronds overhead. A mild breeze went through the area, rustling the flowers gently. The moon shone through the gaps of the make-shift canopy, helping to illuminate the large set of table and chairs he had set up.

"What's up, babe!" he said, just finishing his lighting of the candles, "I have the food here! What would you like?"

He pulled out a chair for Kuja and presented the various meats, salads, and pastas that were set out.

Kuja smiled at him. Not his usual sadistic look, but something that was almost genuine. His hair covered enough of his eyes that the fact that the smile didn't quite touch them might be hidden. Not that he thought Greed would care.

The smile faltered a bit at the word 'babe'. He didn't know how he felt about that. He thought briefly of Zidane's speech pattern - how similar it was.

He shook thoughts of Zidane from his mind as he sat in the chair that was offered to him. He cocked his head and looked at Greed from under his hair.

"Why, I'm not certain! You've certainly outdone yourself, haven't you?"

Kuja's smile widened. He hadn't been treated like this in longer than he cared to remember. He didn't spend too terribly much time around anyone but himself, really - not a lot of chances to be treated like much of anything.

Being treated like royalty was just as good as being utterly feared, as far as he was concerned.

He decided on steak and pineapple for now - though quite a bit less than Greed's plate.

He didn't really need to eat, but that wasn't important. It wasn't as if he couldn't.

"It's simply lovely here," he commented. Gaia had been lovely like this. He had despised it for such. But for now, there was no reason to like or dislike this place.

Well, except for that incident yesterday. But he wasn't thinking about that.

"How did you find this place, anyway?"

That got Kuja's attention.

"Oh? Who was chasing you? Did you upset someone?"

Kuja raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So you're simply stuck until you find a way out?"

He had to admit, he wasn't all too impressed with Greed's eating habits. His own were far more civil. But, well, he had a thing about his appearance. He was all for theatrics and pleasantries, providing they suited whatever his purposes were.

But those teeth. Those were impressive.

"You're not the only one that loves a good fight. Although I don't much like to get my hands dirty, you know..." Kuja said. His smile darkened.

He ate much neater slower than Greed, but the food was very good. He couldn't think of a time he'd done anything quite like this. It was definitely enjoyable.

"It's very good, thank you!"

Kuja took another bite of the steak. He swallowed before answering, "I seem to have died, sadly enough."

Kuja laughed slightly at this. There was ice somewhere in his tone.

"I wasn't made to last long, sadly enough. I was made to be replaced. By my much less attractive younger brother (http://bonifate.livejournal.com). Now, isn't that unfair!?"

Kuja raised an eyebrow. Greed proved to be more and more entertaining as the evening progressed. He was enjoying the company - as well as the flattering outrage.

"Oh, well, if I knew where to find him, then that would be divine. For now, all there is.... is Zidane."

He poured some wine and sipped it, seemingly unperturbed by the table being broken like that.

[identity profile] purple-trance.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Zidane? Oh, he's just the one who was meant to replace me, that's all," Kuja said, as if it were really nothing at all.

[identity profile] purple-trance.livejournal.com 2006-09-22 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I'm sure I could find him without an issue. He has dirty blonde hair, blue eyes, and a silly tail. Like a monkey's tail." Kuja's hair fell back into his eyes. He could feel himself getting angry just thinking about Zidane at the moment.

And this was supposed to be a pleasant dinner, too.

"Why, what did you have in mind?"

[identity profile] purple-trance.livejournal.com 2006-09-29 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Kuja laughed. This was proving to be quite the dinner engagement.

"Oh, well, I can certainly find him. He seems to think he and his silly little friends can protect the carousel. Though what the purpose of that may be, I do not know...."

[identity profile] man-of-means.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably has to do with the countdown, I guess."

[identity profile] purple-trance.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Kuja waved a hand. "Oh, well, that. I don't really care if the world does end. In all probability, though, someone will stop it."

There was slight disdain in his voice.

[identity profile] man-of-means.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"You upset about somethin'?"

[identity profile] purple-trance.livejournal.com 2006-09-30 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Kuja tilted his head at Greed. Would it be all right to tell the homunculus how he felt about worlds ending?

Well, even if it wasn't, did he really care?

...No. He didn't.

"Well, why stop it? Why not just sit back and let it go? What a lovely sight, the world ending...."
