When Korra opens her eyes Saturday morning, it's to find herself in a strange bed.

She spends a moment staring at the ceiling, trying to understand what's happening. Trying to remember what happened that would have brought her here. But there's nothing. The last thing she remembers is kissing Mako.

Mako... Maybe he's here. She rolls out of bed. If he's here, if any of her friends are here, she'll find them.

And if she finds the person who kidnapped her, she's going to make him regret being born.

I'm not lying.

[Jinora's relieved to see Lin, too. Korra's more likely to listen to an adult. (Granted, 'more likely' still isn't very likely, but still!)]

Chief Bei Fong, I think Korra's cursed.

[lawbender]

[ That's what it sounds like to Lin. ] Probably. What is it that you think Jinora is lying about?

[ Don't worry, bb, Lin will try to sort it out. ]

[anatural]

There is no way I've been living here for seven months!

[lawbender]

[ Lin's brow furrows with her confusion. ] As far as I know, you have. You were here before I arrived.

[anatural]

That's not possible.

[lawbender]

Would I lie? [ She spreads her arms out, schools her face to patience, or at least neutrality. ] You're scaring Jinora. Just stop for a moment before rushing to conclusions.

[anatural]

[Korra does stop, but her body trembles with tension. She doesn't want to scare Jinora. The Chief wouldn't lie to her.]

This doesn't make any sense.

[bookbending]

[Jinora is not afraid. She only slipped behind Lin to get out of the way. (Okay, maybe she was alarmed...)]

But can you try to believe us?

[anatural]

[Korra growls with frustration and releases some tension by punching the wall.

Okay, she'll try to believe you guys. But she doesn't have to like it.]

[The powerful expression of anger succeeds in encouraging Jinora to avoid Korra for the rest of the weekend. There aren't a lot of angry outbursts on Air Temple Island.

The ten year-old sneaks off to her room.]

[lawbender]

Don't be childish.

[ Lin squints at Korra disapprovingly. ]

[anatural]

[OH YOU DID NOT -- SHE IS NOT BEING CHILDISH?!]

How would YOU react to being told you have an ENTIRE LIFE you know NOTHING about?!

[lawbender]

[ She does have a point. ]

As an Avatar, I should think you'd be used to the concept. Calm down, and we can talk about it sensibly.

[anatural]

THAT'S SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!

[Don't tell her to calm down!]

[lawbender]

[ Just stands there, and folds her arms, and scowls. ]

[anatural]

[Korra scowls right back. You want to challenge her to a pissy expression contest, chief? She will gladly meet your challenge. Being angry is easier than trying to accept what she's saying.]

[lawbender]

Let me explain this to you. This is a strange City in a world far away from ours. We are not here on our own request and we do not know when we will leave. Sometimes strange things happen to our minds or bodies or memories. This is what happened to you. It is like a prison, except with unprecedented freedom.

[ That seems like a good explanation to her. ]

[anatural]

....run that by me again.

[lawbender]

[ Explaining the City is way harder than Lin thought. She ticks off points on her fingers. ]

Kidnapped to another world. Sometimes without remembering it. Sometimes with a number of other problems. Forced to stay until some unknown date. Sometimes others from your world arrive and do not know that you have gone.

Better?

[anatural]

...............no. Not really.

[She's pretty sure she's dreaming at this point. None of this makes any sense.]

[lawbender]

[ Lin makes a face, frustrated. ] You could think of it as a brief, undesired vacation.
