Time ain't gonna cure you honey
When; Sunday, 10 March 2013
Rating; PG13
Characters; Raven and Charles Xavier, with an appearance by Erik Lehnsherr in the third act
Summary; To celebrate regaining his voice (and to catch up on much needed sibling bonding) Charles and Raven go out for drinks
Log; Raven's first drink had to meet two requirements: sweet and came with an umbrella.
Which kind of tossed Charles' idea of starting his sister out with a rum and coke somewhat out the window, but it turned out fine. She took the Piña Colada, he took the rum and coke, and it all sorted itself out. Four drinks and some time later, Charles didn't even remember it had been an issue. Instead, he was much too busy catching his sister up on all she'd missed in the time between his arrival in the City and her own.
"The first time I went out to drink - which was the last time I went out to drink, actually, which is truly a shame. Truly. Anyway, it was Waitangi Day, and I got so drunk, I forgot where I was living. Erik had to come and walk me home. Axl almost hugged him, it was the most marvelous thing that I have ever seen." Charles gestures roughly a foot and a half above his head. "The boy is ginormously tall, I've never wanted to laugh so hard in my life."
That...might not even be a word, but whatever.

"I can't believe someone actually got up the courage to go anywhere near him - let alone hug him. What did he do?"
no subject
"That thing where he tries to get out of the way and he's only moved a little bit but he's moved and no one can quite catch how he did it."
no subject
That's the only explanation. "He's Dracula and we're not allowed to know because he'll turn into a bat and fly away."
no subject
Which sets Charles into another small fit of inebriated giggling at the mental image. "He dresses too sharp, knows too many languages and is terrifying when he smiles a certain way, yes, I can see that." Clinking his glass against Raven's.
no subject
She's sly when she says it, glancing over to him above the rim of her glass. She's enjoying this too much - her brother's company, just the two of them where it hasn't been since they met the CIA. To say she had resented that would be an understatement, she had felt like a child losing a security blanket.
"Mina?" Grinning, not aware of how much of the truth she's hedging around, "You're pretty enough."

Jonathan is whiny, Raven doesn't whine. She is far too cool for that. Kicking Charles lightly under the table with her foot.

Smiling at Raven when the server leaves. "Pointed ears, how fetching."
no subject
"I'm totally not Dracula material. Maybe Wuthering Heights though. I could be Heathcliff!"

Taking a sip of her new drink, a happy little flush about her, "So maybe we just shouldn't be that kind of novel, right?"

Huffing, "They're always like the wallpaper to the hot, cool guy and it sucks." Taking another long slug of her drink, a frown creasing her features.
no subject
Raven is not meant to be wallpaper to anyone, but Charles doesn't know what quite to do with that frown. "Or perhaps Miss Crawford would write it for you."

Effusing about the cool people she's met is easier, it diverts them both away from a tricky topic, "I mean she's so modern it's like wow, the future seems so wicked."
no subject
"I suspect she'd be just as 'wicked' in any given time period."
no subject
She takes another sip of her drink, eyes him up thoughtfully, "C'mon, spill."

"I, ah...Erik and I went to a teahouse and I ended up poisoned. In a way. At the end of it I had decided that everyone in the local grocery were the most annoying sort of people and then they all started fighting. Which was...very amusing to me. In the moment.
So while Erik was trying to sort out what in the world had happened, he secured me to a chair." Charles drains the rest of his drink. "I spent several hours shouting at people through the device - including Miss Crawford."
He makes a face at his empty glass. "I sent cookies because I couldn't work up the nerve apologizing to so many people directly."
no subject
She pauses, really looks at him as though trying to figure something out. "I don't think I've ever seen you lose control before."
He's been very careful to hide her from it, "You're okay though, right?"
no subject
"No one was harmed, fortunately; not sure how I would live with myself otherwise."
no subject
And Raven disapproves simply on the basis that she is his little sister and that's what she's here to do, "You wouldn't have hurt anyone. I know you. Even like, drugged out of your mind you wouldn't have gone that far."
no subject
"Well. I'm glad you have that sort of faith in me. To be honest, it got much much further than I would have believed myself capable even without permanent damage."

Charles frowns so much as he starts on this new drink; poor Raven has seen that sudden turn for the highly offended while inebriated before. "It's like a poison for the mind that comes laced in sedative - ah, we were cursed, carry on it doesn't matter! Only it does matter, it matters to everyone."
no subject
"If you keep being so hard on yourself you're going to go grey."
Then biting her lip in thought, "So you messed up. Just don't mess up again. That's how it goes, right?"
