Beware the Ides of March

When; March 15th
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Chekov, Lucy, Uhura, whoever else is hanging out about the hospital
Summary; That awkward moment when your friend stabs you in the back. Literally.
Log;

The hospital is busy. Curses have a way of making that happen, particularly curses that compel people to stab their friends with whatever happens to be close at hand. Not all of the wounds are serious (the man who was jabbed with a spork insists upon seeing a doctor); some of them are. Others are neither one nor the other, leaving the patient in a twilight world between life and death.

Thus far, the hospital staff have managed to avoid backstabbing.

The day is still young.

[Lucy notices it, her eyes going wide.] Pavel! [It's an urgent whisper. Very, very carefully she puts her knees on the bed then wedges herself onto the edge of the bed on her side, carefully snuggled up to Chekov. She doesn't put her head on his chest the way she might. She keeps their hands twined together wedged between them. Her knees press against his leg and her free arm is curled up beneath her head.] I'm right here, Pavel. I'm not going anywhere.

Shhh. You don't have to talk. You know me, I can talk forever without any input at all. [She presses a kiss to his shoulder.] You focus on getting better.

[Just that he's awake and aware that she's here is enough for Lucy, so she'll do just as promised and ramble on about things. He'll get to hear about how Bryant has decided he's afraid of any table or counter because Masha has taken to knocking things off the tables and counters on top of the dog. He'll hear about the new stock she's ordered for the store in preparation for summer and about the summer wardrobe shopping she has to do and how it's almost warm enough to head to the beach.

Basically, she'll just ramble about everything in an effort to fill the silence between them and push back the fear lurking under that silence.]
