the openest log to ever open! <3
When; Evening of April Fifth
Rating; probably varying by threads
Characters; EVERYONE IS WELCOME
Summary; Big ol' open log for the grand opening of Isaak's bar~ Feel free to come and socialize, even if you don't know the guy! Hooray!
Log;
Word has been spreading, in a quiet sort of way-- a tasteful poster here, an idle comment there, a few personal invitations (with varying degrees of detail) delivered by Isaak himself, and (of course) the polite request that others pass the word along. Simple, but (one hopes) effective.
The Wolf's Den is luxurious without being overly ostentatious; it's warmly lit and comfortable in spite of its newness, with comfortable leather seating and a well-stocked, under-lit bar. No detail has been overlooked-- and, perhaps, no expense spared-- from the hardwood floor to the ornately-tiled ceiling.
There's plenty of food and drink to go around, and as the evening gets underway, Isaak is contentedly mingling among his guests, socializing and keeping an eye on things in equal parts.
So, have a drink; make some new friends. Everyone is welcome, here.

This beer's real good. [GULP.]

[Pat. Pat to his back. Then Larry's hand rests on the back of Freddy's neck.]
I think it's funny. I really do. It's okay now.
[Don't go on and clam up now, Newendyke. Since it's out in the open... Fine way to put it like that old man. They're in a gay bar playing it cool as though it were any other place.]
no subject
[Freddy insists in case it wasn't clear yet, because he's not that kind of guy and he's definitely not that kind of cop. That paw on his neck sure feels reassuring.]
no subject
[Thick fingers rub. Larry takes a look one way and the next, casually. Larry can talk to him about this. No one else can.]
Were you playing a joke?
no subject
[He says casually and without guilt because that's totally what it was it just happened to have a joke in it by circumstance.]
no subject
[Now he'll let him go.]
That was pretty fucking funny. Don't you think it's funny? Not even a little funny?
[Just happened that way. Out of the blue coincidence that's all.]
If you gotta know, that was all that we talked about. That and Raikov's prowess.
no subject
It's pretty funny...
[Oh look at this bear, doing his best to reassure a fox.] I don't gotta know, but thanks.
[He's not mad at Raikov (anymore), honest.]
no subject
I want you to know. It came up. I couldn't avoid it. Fuck, I wanted to.
[Being honest, being the victim. Officer, help.]
I dunno why I had to know about what dragon he was out to slay.
[That couldn't have possibly been a bid to get some sort of discord had it. Big, bad vet cop dolling out duty because it is hilarious isn't the spin that White finds believable. Hard to get a read on Raikov when he's all voices and coy comments before frankness. What is that? Is that a Russian thing?]
no subject
[Freddy admits without shame now that it seems the old man doesn't hold his sense of humor against him.]
He's not stupid you know.
[No matter how coy and almost seductively naive he wants to sound. Sometimes Freddy thinks it's a ruse or maybe he boyfriend likes him that way.]
no subject
[Raikov has a flighty personality that could be seen as not very smart at times. The guy is a soldier. He's made it through this far.]
I don't think he's stupid.
[These Freddy Newendyke wiles might be played out like a top 40s song, but Larry has not grown sick of it at all.]
Do you like talking to him?
no subject
[No grudge held.] Kinda surprised he ain't taking advantage of the bar, you know how Russians are.
no subject
[Larry leans on the bar and takes a glance around in case the subject in question is around.]
Say, now. It's early. He should be pacing himself. After all, day one.
[...he almost almost slipped up by saying it was a free bar. Close call.]
You didn't answer my question, pal. How about another one. You mind me talking to him?
no subject
I dunno, you got any recommendations? I don't mind you talking to him.
[It's like they're having two separate conversations in one breath and it's hard to tell which is the cover for the other.]
no subject
Woah. Now.
[The kid gets a pat to the chest.]
Recommend talking to Raikov?
[He's gonna wait for the second part. The permission with the "just a joke" bit does make it all easier to swallow.]

[Grin, grin, grin. Distract and distract.]
Sure got nothing to go wandering for.
[Larry has himself a self-satisfied slurp of his drink. Nice and slow. Savoring that taste. He's been playing long enough that he believes his upper hand is good enough to stick. Any person watching could see and note they could very well be married. Boring couple.]
no subject
You sound kinda guilty.
[He says ever so casually and ever so casually still trying to turn the tables.]
no subject
[Robbery. Battery. Lying. Murder. Those aren't small time issues. And a few of them with the kid he cares the most about.]
If I'm gonna be a cheat, it won't ever be with Raikov. That's a big if in this situation.
[Is this subject and these words so wise, Dimmy?]
no subject
That's not what I'm talking about. Why would you say that? Damn, man.
[Freddy polishes his beer off and sets it down on the counter.]
no subject
[Watch him lift a hand to wave down the bartender to get his man another drink.]
What am I guilty of, man? You know my rap sheet.
no subject
[Caramel green eyes narrow and observe the interaction between old man and bartender. Is the tender going to unknowingly blow Dimmy's cover? Would it be mean to get involved and sweat the tender down for the truth? Naw, Newendyke, enjoy the drinks. Also remember, it's a gay bar.]
You're such an asshole.
[Into his pocket and out into his hand, a tip for the tender. At least he's a hot looking one.]
no subject
You can tell me. I'm listening. Am I guilty of trying to coerce some action? No. It happens by itself. I say no. Except for this one guy.
[Hands off of the money and a hand on Freddy's thigh a moment or two before it drops.]
....I am an asshole though. I'm guilty as fuck for that.
no subject
[That money doesn't go unnoticed that's for sure but the kid's redirecting his focus now. To that hand.]
Put it back on.
[Your paw, Dimmy, put it back on. God you're a sucker for an old criminal, Newendyke.]
no subject
[This one is the right one. Everything, everyone says something else. Dimmy doesn't listen to anyone.]
Yeah?
[One request is what it takes. Those caramel apple eyes catch quite a bit. A warm, open palmed touch won't change it. Maybe it would make it more complicated, right to the top of his thigh to smooth upward then back down to where he started. A light squeeze. No one in a gay bar looks different or says shit about it. Larry feels especially bold.]
