Lucky's casino is busy as usual on Thursday, but those inside will notice that the stage normally reserved for entertainment is shrouded in a large curtain. The owner is seated, prepared to listen to the audition of a buxom blond who seems shy and has no real command over the stage. After a deep breath, she begins to sing in a voice barely above a whisper:

"Happy birthday to you~"

Before she can really get into the meat of the song, the curtain rises to reveal an unusual spectacle. Women of all sizes and shapes dressed comfortably in next to nothing. Those inside the casino can see them make a musical entrance. They seem to dote especially on the owner, who appears to be hoisted in his seat by two beefy men in shiny speedos. They carry him closer to what appears to be a cake.

It's not.

The exterior slips away revealing a mounted pole and another woman who has no problem steadying her stilettos on the arms of the chair the owner is being held captive in from time to time.

Looks like it's SOMEONE'S BIRTHDAY

All varieties of business continue as usual after the reveal. The women and men will flirt with anyone who has the means to earn their attention. There's even a new racehorse to the circuit being promoted out back! Come evening, patriotic Americans launch fireworks into the night sky. So come! There's good company, gambling, drinks and dancing-- eat, drink and be merry in honor of the holiday and Meyer Lansky's birthday!

"Did it work?"

She was able to kiss him on the cheek.

"I think so. What do you think?"

He certainly does look more relaxed than usual. He hasn't even evaded her cheek kisses, or tried to stop her from flirting with him.

"I think it's working. I think it looks good on you and you should do it more often."

It's weird!

"I don't know about more often. The casino couldn't sustain this kind of atmosphere every day, after all, and we'd all get pretty tired eventually."

There's that logic of his, winning out as always, even after drinking a considerable amount of alcohol.

"I meant relaxing and loosening up, silly."

She pats his cheek. He's adorable.

"If I spent my time relaxed and loosened up, nothing would ever get done around here."

But he has to admit, it's kind of nice once and awhile.

"Bah! I'm plenty of relaxed and loosened up and I get lots of things done."

It's very nice. Yes. Maybe he could put it on his schedule.

"Yeah? Maybe I'll have to make more time for it. Not for parties like this, though."

"Oh, no, of course not. Parties like this would be ridiculous. But just some fun time. Going dancing somewhere else or maybe going the theater."

"Tell me this truthfully..."

He sways a little in his seat, obviously far more effected by the alcohol than he gives himself credit for.

"... can you imagine me dancing?"

"Yes, I could. But I could see anyone dancing, so I'm not the right person to ask.]

"And with a few more drinks in me, you might not just have to imagine it."

Not that he really thinks he'll be dancing. But stranger things have happened.

"I'll be kind and not feed them to you to see it."

They have! But she's not going to get Meyer completely smashed to see him dance.

"And there still always the theater."

"Don't worry about needing to feed them to me -- in a couple hours, I'll have had that much of my own free will. Speaking of drinks..."

He looks down at his glass, which is suddenly very empty. "You want anything?"

"What ever you're having," she says agreeably.

"And if you feel up to it in a few hours, I'll dance with you."

He orders them both a gin and tonic -- although by ordering, it really means that he reaches across the bar and pours it himself -- and then nods.

"I'll hold you to that."

"You should. I'm a fantastic dancer."

Yay more drinks. She lifts hers up in a toast. "Happy birthday. How old are you?"

"Yeah, I can very easily imagine you dancing."

That might have come out a little more flirtatiously than he'd intended it to, being as he hadn't meant it to be flirtatious at all, and there are quite a few nearly naked dancing girls around. He toasts her in return.

"Twenty two."

"I would hope so. I was given enough lessons."

She drinks.

"Twenty two? Oh! I'm just a little bit older than you!"

"How old? Twenty four? Twenty five?"

He's not a great judge of age; he's always looked and acted older than he really is, and almost all of his business associates are older by several years.

"I wish I was twenty five. Then I'd be an adult. No, I'm twenty three."

She knocks her drink back. It's hard to say how old Laruna acts and things like that.

"That's right -- you said something about twenty-five being an adult where you're from. Hard to believe."

Especially since, for someone who'd grown up so fast and still had just barely entered his twenties, twenty five sounds unspeakably old.

"We mature physically slower and age slower too. Our average life span is about double yours."

And Laruna's lead the pampered life.

"I can't decide if that sounds nice or not. On one hand, you have all that extra time to do things with your life. On the other hand, life is hard enough as it is, without being twice as long."

He might be accurately described as a pessimist.

"Or yours being half as long. I couldn't really say, not having lived that long. Though... apparently it would get really lonely if you lived among people who didn't live as long as you did."
