Summary; The celebrations continue, and the Anonymous regime has summoned guests that Citizens might (not) prove very thrilled to see! As opposed to other Fourth Wall events, all visiting characters will have been invited to the City, or they must arrive here of their own will.

There's so much to do and so much to see in this City of cities. From tromping through Xanadu, long walks along the shore, shopping in the Square, hunting in the forest, meeting a contact in the Underground, or getting as many answers as possible at the Welcoming Center how can anyone decide on just one. In three days time so much can be done!

Shops and restaurants are having specials. Happy hour has become happy days in some bars. This is quite the occasion! When the City decides to celebrate, it becomes contagious. Why not smile and strike up a conversation with a stranger? After all, a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet.

I don't have those kinds of plans, John.

[Finally using his first name again. Ben doesn't know why, it just sort of comes out. He rubs the back of his neck.]

No. I didn't.

[actsharpbesharp]

[Names again. Don't, Sherman. Can we keep it turbulent and prickly? That way there's no chance at all he'll default to pity. Cooper is sure he wouldn't know what to do with that.]

That makes two of us.

[Just another day. Heading home but not to his own home for the night.]

We were supposedly invited. So there's a reason we're here.

Invited? Who told you that?

[That's more of a work question. Back to patrol. Back to figuring out this mess. Just two cops trying to figure out their beat.] Invited to what?

I rubbed elbows with someone at the juice bar. This happens from time to time. Whatever sort of a place this is people visit then go home. Sounds like another circus.

[Another asshole rodeo. That's far more comforting than it should be. Working you can't think about things that bother you, until they're right in your face again. Cooper is confident that if he tries hard enough, he'll work through it. Just like he did while his father was on trial the first time.]

That cop I met confirmed it.

What's it like being a cop around here? Lasers for tasers?

[Ben asks with a sense of humor. He's more comfortable with his side arm and extra magazines.]

Space age with the classics. Being what it is, sounds like they take whatever they can and make it work. Just enough law and justice.

[If they're going to call it that. He doesn't know about the no law thing.]

They had some kind of rioting or conflict not too long ago. Judging by how everyone's going about their day, it couldn't have been like Watts or anything.

They got the Lakers around here?

[Ben asks in his typical (rich) corn fed white Beverly Hills boy thoughtful dry humor.]

[That humor that seldom makes Cooper laugh other than at the fact that he thinks it is funny.]

Nope. No Spago either. You're going to just have to adapt.

[After a pause he decides to add:] There might be dinosaurs. Keep those Beverly Hills gun club skills sharp because I don't have much to get it first.

Hey I'm just about in deep water as you. No rifle. No cruiser. No goat.

[Ben gives John a wide armed loose shouldered shrug. He's old enough to remember that movie, thanks.]

Life's gotta find a way.

[As it is meant to. That's a chaos theory in of itself. Some live. Some die. The ones that live should have a reason to do so. That's not always it. Luck of the draw.

Lucero had just as much of a chance. The therapist says that survivor guilt is perfectly normal. She also suggests huffing lavender candles.]

[John Cooper is really talking about going up against a small dino rampage.]

Maybe you could try blinding it with your Crest smile.

[ Her uniform is a little weird, but hey, it's just what he was wishing for - someone else to hang out with from Starfleet. Doesn't hurt that she's pretty. Not that he would say that. He's on the job. ]

Hey! [ He waves in a friendly manner. ] I didn't know there was anyone else from Starfleet here. Guess there were more invitations than we heard about.

[countrydoctor]

[The City's a nice enough place, but McCoy wouldn't want to live here.]

Enterprise? I'm stationed on her myself. [There's no incredulity in his tone--after all, he has had conversations with himself here--but it's still something of a surprise.] The pleasure's mine, Robbins.

[ She's just sitting there, and that's honestly what catches Geordi's attention at first. There are so many people bustling back and forth here, greeting friends and cursing strangers and vice versa. But she's sitting there, calm. As if she's waiting for a transporter or something.

Of course, maybe she is. The uniform's a little... how long has it been since that was the style? Doesn't matter, though. Someone else from Starfleet is here, and that means he has to say hello. ]

Hello, Lieutenant. And here I thought I was the only person from Starfleet invited to this shindig. [ Smile! ]

[first_officer]

[Say what you will about the future, it's apparently friendly. Though, of course, they're Starfleet; there's no better way to guarantee good people, is there? She flashes a smile of her own, tight and polite but genuine... only a little formal.]

I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage, [she replies, nodding at his uniform.] But evidently, there are a few of us.

[first_officer]

She's a popular ship, apparently. I spoke with an Ensign Chekov.

[He sounded young, she almost adds, but that seems rather rude. He seemed competent for all that.] It's a pleasure, but a strange one, if you don't mind my saying so.

[superboot]

I think they have bigger teeth.

[Ben looks at John like that's just a ridiculous idea, maybe even a challenge to a carnivorous dinosaur who could outtooth Ben Sherman ten times over. Just shooting the breeze.]

[actsharpbesharp]

So what would be your plan B?

[Like it's training all over again.]

Anything we roll up on can change.

[Even knowing this full well, you can never be prepared.]

Find something to roll up in.

[Ben says like that's the most obvious if not best answer in the world, because they have no other options.]

Good enough for me. Improvisation is our strongest weapon here. We got to get everything right the first time. I believe we can rely on the other cops, I don't know how long they'll take to come in.

[Their planning may not be a big deal at all. There is not a dino in sight.]

Or if they're coming in on dinosaurs. [Ben's humor is so dry and deadpan one might think he's British and not Beverly Hills.] I've got in, John. We're on patrol together, like old times.

[The much younger officer talks like his probation days were so long ago.]

Old times. What am I? A dinosaur too. It wasn't that long ago.

[John had one bad problem them. Now he's got another. Canadian Beverly Hills comedy hour might not be the remedy he thought of, but it might be the one he needs.

Or did you miss me that much? Is that what this is about?

[Recalling Sammy Bryant's face he doesn't seem the type to be riding your ass hard.]

Miss you? The department can't get rid of you.

[Him and Sammy have that in common, some desire to come back on patrol regardless of circumstances. A passion for teaching. Both of them lost partners too. Well, so did Ben, just not the same way.]

[actsharpbesharp]

Nobody can.

[Cooper is quiet with that for a moment. He rubs his nose and it pushes up his shades for a second.]

I'm talking about you, numbnuts. The answers no, right? Y'got someone else to bust your balls or try to be your friend.

[Another partner.]

My T-O, he was a legend. And an asshole.

[superboot]

You had a T-O?

[Ben asks like either John's such a fossil he predates FTOs or because John Cooper acts like everything he knows has been from working the streets.]

It doesn't hurt to go lone wolf after a while. [Ben shrugs.] Who was he?

[Your training officer, John. Too bad it wasn't Ben who got to see the chair go through the window.]

Yeah. Me and Barney Rubble went to the academy together.

[Duh. His face sort of tilts to one side.]

Hicks.

[Like that is self explanatory. He sort of hopes that it is. That means that his reputation is still one of respect.]

Lone wolf is okay. It only gets you so far.
