Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

And I'm seventeen. My mom kept saying I'd grow out of it. So, it made sense to rent it.

[trenchknives]

Yeah, you probably would. I don't think I got much taller after I was seventeen, but y'know, your shoulders get bigger, 'n that kinda thing, 'n tuxes are expensive.

[A pause, and then a smile and a little nudge.]

If you've been trynna impress any ladies around the City, tonight'd be the night to do it, lookin' like that.

[affectioning]

Right.

[ That's what his mom said! He smiles, blushing, looking down. ]

Oh, I'm not.

[trenchknives]

No? That 'cause you've already impressed someone?

[affectioning]

No. I mean, I don't know? I'm not trying to. I just mean that there's other stuff going on. And I was a pirate this weekend. [ Though, he did impress Rapunzel... ]

[trenchknives]

Yeah, 'n I guess since you got your mom here, you don't wanna do any flirtin' in front of her.

[affectioning]

[ Well, probably not. ]

Maybe. What about you?

[trenchknives]

Well, there're a couple people I wouldn't mind impressin'...

[affectioning]

Who, are they here?

[trenchknives]

[He grins.]

Yeah. Angela. She arranged the party, y'know?

[affectioning]

Yeah, I know her! She's going to paint a mural for the clinic.

See? So you can imagine why I might wanna impress her.

Have you tried?

I took her on a date, if you count that as tryin'.

[affectioning]

How'd it go?

Well, she didn't slap me. 'n she said she'd see me again, so I'd call that a success.

[affectioning]

That is! What're you doing next time?

[trenchknives]

Well, uh, I hadn't quite gotten that far yet. I was kinda plannin' on maybe doin' somethin' with her after the party tonight. Why, you got any great suggestions?

[affectioning]

No. I don't think so. That sounds cool. Does she know?

[trenchknives]

Yeah, we talked about it.

[And he was an insufferable flirt, but maybe he doesn't need to say that.]

[affectioning]

Great! So you'll have fun.

[trenchknives]

That's the plan, anyway.

[A little smile.]

Okay, I'm gonna go grab another drink 'n try to mingle. You want anythin', or are you okay?

[affectioning]

No thanks. I'm good. See you later?
