Characters; It's Ginny's birthday party and everybody Ginny knows was invited. Let's handwave that and just show up. BTW, IT'S BLACK TIE. PUT ON YOUR SUITS, BOYS.
Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

Thank you. [ progress, spock, progress! ] I thought I'd take my original colors out for a spin for a change.

[ she was a legit science officer before she switched from blue to red and made a b-line for the captain's chair. ]

[logistical]

[A hint of a smile. There's some faction in Starfleet (Marcus) that wanted a more military organisation, but Spock's glad they're returning to their roots: peaceful exploration.]

Speaking of colours, may I ask why command and engineering changed?

[directives]

[ she's heard all about that in her talks with your captain, spock. she sincerely hopes admiral marcus' vision is never seen through to fruition in your version of events. ]

I'm not sure, actually. [ something she could easily answer after a quick stroll through the federation database, but color changes that happened before she was born have never been relevant to her, thus the answer was never sought. ] There was a period of time where all officers wore red, even one where whites seemed to dominate the scheme. I've worn a slightly different variant of the uniform I wear now, [ and she knows starfleet's wearing yet another variant based on the doctor's trip to the prometheus and the few communiqués she's had from admiral hayes. ] but command's been red for as long as I've been in Starfleet.

[logistical]

Fascinating.

[And someone like him would find all these little details pertinent. As a Vulcan he'd probably live that long... and it's strange to think about, because of Spock Prime.]

The science track is still blue?

[directives]

[ she nods. tuvok would likely have more to say on the subject of uniform variants, as he's been wearing one since the old red uniforms were still in use, something she witnessed "firsthand" during a mind meld that allowed her to shadow him while relieving events from when he served under captain sulu on the excelsior. it occurs to her that tuvok will likely never exist in spock's alternate timeline, something she has deliberately avoided giving much thought to. ]

Sometimes there's a bit of green to the blue, but I imagine it will always be blue.

[He doesn't have any particular feelings towards the colour blue, save that it's a mental image associated primarily with Earth, and the water. Vulcan was red, and Vulcan is gone.]

There have also been several advances in engineering? Your ship is no doubt much faster than mine.

[directives]

[ she grins. ] Voyager has a maximum warp of nine point nine-seven-five. We've pushed her a little farther than that on occassion.

[logistical]

[The Enterprise can only reach that speed at great risk. Spock's impressed, but it's a matter of being a hundred years in the future.]

Doctor McCoy must no doubt be interested in medical advances.

[directives]

There isn't much the Temporal Prime Directive will allow me to reveal, but I will say that my Chief Medical Officer is a hologram.

[ that alone should speak volumes about the medical advancements starfleet's made in a hundred years' time. ]

[logistical]

[Oh wow. He even looks surprised, for a moment.]

Fascinating.

[But it's too much to hope for peace in the Federation, yet. No doubt her ship encounters new threats, and he's not sure he wants to know about those. He'd asked Spock Prime about Khan, of course, but something like the Borg? Maybe not.]

[directives]

I'd say so. [ she practically beams, smiling brightly while singing the doctor's praises. if only the hologram were around to hear it. more than once, she's found herself wishing she'd been pulled from a point in time where she'd palmed his emitter for one reason or another, so that her own doctor would've literally been on hand. ] He's even free to move about the ship and go on away missions while wearing his mobile emitter. Otherwise, he's restricted to sickbay and the holodecks, as we don't exactly have holo emitters installed throughout the ship.
