Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

What time d'you want to head off home, by the way? Any in particular? The snow's happening at midnight.

[Damnit Jim, you can't just make things up.]

[Because it goes without saying he's only leaving when Jim is.]

One-ish, then. Between you and me, I think I'm getting too old to pull all-nighters.

[ Sob, twenty-six years, he hardly knew ye. There comes a point in every man's life where he'd rather not get wasted, but go home to his thesis and a cup of hot chocolate with his equally wild buddies. ]

[It is a very, very faint movement. A bristle, or a flinch. How Jim can make jokes about getting old or dying, Spock will never understand, no matter how much he's come to accept it as a facet of his friend's personality.]

If you are not too inebriated before then, it is acceptable.

I'm not going to get drunk, Spock. I don't plan to in this City.

[ He isn't sure how to categorize the funny look that flickers over Spock's face, but he knows he'd rather not be the cause of it again if he was. ]

Did you get Ginny a birthday present, or was yours the cake?

[He's only too glad to change the subject, and gestures to a small package, about purse-sized.]

I obtained a gift.

[ Alas that Jim doesn't have x-ray vision. ]

I got her some earrings. What's in there?

[logistical]

A purse.

[hischair]

Cake and a new bag, she'll fall for you in record time if you keep that up.

[logistical]

[He tilts his head.]

It was a logical gift.

It's a nice one. [ Paaause. ] Can I have some more cake?

[logistical]

[In reply, he cuts another slice (slightly larger) and hands it to Jim.]

Thanks, I'm gonna go explore all those strange new people and seek out new snacks on the buffet. [ Sucking on his fork, he raises his brows questioningly. ] See you in a bit, yeah?

[logistical]

[He nods.]

I will continue... getting acquainted.

[Because 'making friends' has a bit of an unfortunate association now.]
