Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

"Yeah I could do something like that..." He wasn't going to do it, Isaac really did not want a job. He liked the idea of living a new life where he did nothing and also didn't fear for his safety.

"But, you don't have to. Until you're eighteen, you'll get your allowance." So, that's okay.

"Good." Because forming career paths while he was here was not happening.

"Good cake," he says.

"Uh, yeah..." He watches Scott out of the corner of his eye, he'd been acting weird over the last few days and Isaac wasn't exactly sure why things were so awkward between them since they arrived.

"What?" Look at these puppy eyebrows. Nothing's weird. Or wrong. At all.

"Just you... and Stiles. And Derek." There are very pointed pauses between the three of them. "You're all acting weird."

"Derek and Stiles are acting weird?" he asks, clearly interested.

"No.. that wasn't my point." He sighs. "Even the way you perked up hearing that, I mean all three of you are acting weird about each other, except maybe Derek he's just the one that you're acting weird about." It was really hard to explain considering no-one told him anything, they just kept being like this.

He sighs.

"Don't ask. And I don't know - my mom thinks so and something is different. With them. I think there's something going on with them."

He seems less scowley now that someone is actually telling him what was going on, because it was getting tiring listening to half-things. "Wait, you mean romantically?" He can barely stop the mirth entering his face.

"Yeah." He nods. "They act weird. Well, Stiles acts weird." Not that Stiles doesn't always act weird but it's a weirder kind of weird. "He smells like Derek. You've smelled it, right?" Sure, they live with Derek but -- it's clear.

"The whole house smells like Derek, hell I probably smell like Derek. I mean its like he rubbed himself on everything. Maybe Derek still has a thing for shoving Stiles into walls? He wasn't exactly peaceful back then?" He takes a second. "That and I haven't heard them screwing late at night so.." He shrugs, this is the Isaac Lahey compendium of Stiles/Derek knowledge.

"You do. But, it's a different way. There's also - energy. You can smell it, right? Stiles' reactions to things." He frowns. "Yeah, but it's Derek Hale," he says. "Have you ever heard him... Don't answer that." He doesn't want to know. "That's it. That's what's going on. So, Stiles is being weird and I'm trying not to be weird and my mom worries and I don't know what to do."

"Dude even if him and Derek are..." Not finishing that sentence because ew, mental images. "It doesn't really have anything to do with us, right? I mean it wouldn't make any sense really, but hey... they're been here a long time."

"I know. But, why wouldn't he tell me? If they are. I don't... care. I just, I want to understand it. If he needs to talk about something, I'm there and I don't think he's going to. It's like our friendship is off balance." And then he pauses, realizing he's talking to Isaac Lahey about Stiles. Both of those two have issues with one another. "Sorry, I didn't mean to - you asked. Don't tell Lydia. Not that you're going to."

He just puts his hands up in a sort of 'surrender' gesture. "Not my place, Scott. Talk to Stiles, I don't know... don't ask Derek though, he might uh.. yeah that's just not a path you should go down."

"I wasn't going to. I don't even know what I would say." No, unless something was confirmed, then he'd say something. Maybe, don't hurt his best friend. "Maybe my mom's just seeing into things. They're different here. It's been a year."

He nods in agreement. "Yeah, I mean if I was stuck with Derek for a year I'd be acting pretty weird too..." He didn't mean it to sound quite so insulting but whatever.

"And now I want another drink." He looks at Isaac, raises an eyebrow. "Think we can find some water around here?" Or soda. Or, fine, more champagne.

Isaac smiles, he'd barely touched his drink, it was wine and he was drinking it because it still had a nice taste. "Might as well fit in and stick to the alcohol, its not like it can do anything." He'll just cast an eye about the place because they were out of earshot but Scott may shout at him again because of werewolf things.

"I already had two glasses." Or, three. And his mom clearly caught him at some point. Whatever. No turning back. He can't even get drunk. Isaac has a point. "Let's find another."

He follows Scott over to where the drinks are, having a gulp of his wine because they'd been talking for a long time. "Hey we should encourage people to try drink us under the table." Because more than anything that would be hilarious.

"Why?" What's fun about that? This is the blandly moral Scott McCall!

Isaac rolls his eyes because blandly moral can be substituted for plain bland. "Nevermind."
