Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

[Of course, Wilson shows up - and he does so with a small gift in his hand. For as long as they've both been here, he knows he's really only gotten to know Ginny over the past year or so. He's truly happy to have done so, though, and to be here.

It certainly doesn't hurt that the timing of the party is perfect. With everything that's been unfolding, as busy as the hospital has been, he's barely kept his cool. Certainly there have been moments of far more dramatic flailing than usual.

He'll be placing his gift on the table and seeing to drinks, as well as mingling with anyone he knows - or simply, anyone who would like to. He's very much in the mood to unwind right about now.]

[Wilson is going to be one of the many people Miss Weasley ambushes with a hug.]

[While the ambush takes him by surprise, he's certainly not unhappy with being hugged - after the initial moment's pause, he gives a short laugh and returns the embrace.]

[She smiles up at him, giving the hug another tight squeeze then stepping back, beaming.]

Thank you. And thank you for coming! I was hoping to see you here. No homemade food this time round.

Of course - I wouldn't have missed it.

Though that's almost too bad, it was quite the... varied spread.

Curry, bagels, something in Russian that Pavel brought and I can't recall the name, but...

[She shrugs, chuckling.]

It was perfect. Summed up our friendships with everyone quite well, I thought. But this—well, everyone needs an extravagant excuse to dress up and go dancing.

[ He gives a small chuckle also. ]

Just a little bit of everyone that was there, to be shared with the party at large.

[ And an appreciative smile as he glances around the room. ]

Though I am a fan of dressing up and going dancing, and I can't possibly think of a better excuse to do so. Everyone deserves a good gala now and again, I think.

Well, with the Pevensies gone, I suppose someone's got to provide the fun.

[Angela, she means, because Ginny's just here to have fun like everyone else.]

So if Dr McCoy didn't bring a date from the hospital, did you?

[ He shakes his head slightly, pursing his lips a bit. Closest thing he has right now to a girlfriend is dead, from his future, and only here on those "visiting" days. So there's that. ]

No, I'm... afraid I can't say that I brought a date at all.

[She laugh a bit, ducking her head.]

I was going to do the same. [But then Bones offered.] But it's alright, you've got friends here. You should go dance with Angela!

[ found you at the drink table, wilson. ]

Straight to the booze, huh?

[ And he'll raise a glass to you with a little smirk. ]

Hey, we do have doctor friend priority to protect.

And thank God for that.

[ he raises his own drink. ]

Been busy? I haven't seen you around the hospital much.

Oh, I've been around, just trying to take advantage of the time to catch up on everything that gets pushed to the side during the City's crises.

I'm fairly certain my paperwork was in danger of becoming a fire hazard.

[ Exaggeration, yes, even if it doesn't feel like much of one. ]

[ he knows this feeling. ]

That goes for a lot of us, I wager. That week with the "essence rites" did us no favours.

It's always cumulative. I doubt there's any place, or any time, where it isn't true that downtime is an opportunity to be seized upon, but it really can't be understated here. Though I'm sure you figured that out by now - honestly, I can't say I envy the timing of your arrival.
