Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

So who dragged you along to this madhouse?

That would make you the guest of honor, wouldn't it? Happy birthday.

[Her eyes light up with recognition at the mention of Chakotay and she smiles a bit wider.]

Same world, maybe? It's a pleasure, Mr Kim.

You're very welcome - though it would be pretty rude to show up at a party and not wish the birthday girl a good one.

[His smile brightens a bit also, and he gives a nod as he carefully thinks about how he should handle the question of Chakotay. Can't give away too much about how he knows him, but it'll be obvious in dealing with anyone here that they're from the same world anyway.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, too - and we are, actually, from the same world. Lucky for me, too, since I just showed up the other day.

Well, now's the best time to get to know some others. There's loads of us from all over, not just countries, but times too. You can start with me.

Ginny Weasley from Devon, England. Last I checked, it was May 1998 in my world.

No kidding. The place is like one big temporal anomaly.

[ And... well, he certainly knows from those. ]

1998? I think that's a little bit before my time.

[ That much isn't too much information to volunteer, and should give him enough information to gauge. Odds are she knows something about their temporal differences from Chakotay, right? ]

[She looks amused.]

I tend to be, yeah. Especially by your lot's standards.

[ He's got a little hint of a smirk himself. ]

Well, I was born in South Carolina... in 2349.

You must be very proud.

I've never been to the States.

[ Little shrug there. ]

Earth's a lot smaller, when I'm from. There's really less of a distinction between one territory or another.

[hexuality]

Really? Territories?

[valedictory]

I guess it'd be "countries," huh?

[ A slightly nervous laugh - he's not great with some of the history before the Federation's formation, truth be told, and that terminology gets lost after a last major global war in his version of the universe. ]

There are different areas, but for the most part, Earth is... Earth. It's all home.
