Summary; There's no legal drinking age in the City, but who says we can't party like there was one anyway?

This party was four years coming. The restaurant has set aside a large room just for this event and on short notice too. The food is plentiful and of various cuisines, with even a large selection of vegetarian options for those who prefer that. But of course, there is more alcohol than one has ever seen because Angela knows the people she invited and knows quite a few of them have liquor in their veins instead of blood. Rule of thumb: more liquid than solids every time.

Everything's set and ready for the birthday girl to make her appearance, so for the time being, Angela's flitting around the place dressed in more subdued colors than usual, choosing black because no one gets to stand out more than Ginny tonight, and socializing with the few guests that have shown up already.

Sadly, there are no strippers. Ginny nixed that one hard.

[It's weird when you meet a person and know they're technically older than you but feel like they're the same age, mentally and physically and spiritually and other allys, isn't it? It's weird. But out of all the weird things in the City, being Ginny Weasley's friend isn't one. Yes, she's a witch, but so what - Mae's brother's a magician, and Ginny made her a witch hat and a crown. She's pretty golden, in her book.

SO OBVIOUSLY she's there at the party, obviously. And as soon as Mae spots her, there will be a bear hug to go with the,]

[She lets out a startled yelp that quickly dissolves into a laugh when Mae hugs her, spinning around to hug her right back, tight and fond.]

Thank you! [She rests her hands on her shoulders and leans back, grinning broadly.] You look wonderful! Having fun?

[Let's sway a little to the music, Ginny. There's nothing suggestive about this at all, and all male who're getting their rocks off from watching can go stare at a wall for a while.]

Oh, yes. I've been saying I missed partying, you made my dream come true.

Angela made your dream come true.

[Everyone should thank Angela for this, she made it all happen, and it's WONDERFUL. Ginny will also totally dance with Mae because she danced with Luna at her brother's wedding and whatever, they're awesome.]

I'm sure you've been keeping yourself busy. There's loads of people here.

Well, the woman has talent - but you've got the birthday which provided the excuse for all this.

[Well, in that case? Be ready, be prepared, be twirled around and dipped.]

Not all of them are being celebrated today.

[Yes, she's rolling with this. Look, for all that Ginny jokes that she doesn't know how to dance, she is actually quite good and light on her feet and mmm twirl and a dip, what moves you have, Miss Crawford.]

I just want to make sure everyone's having a good time.

The best of times, don't you worry.

[She learnt them at boarding school from Marie, the lesbian exchange student from France. Or maybe it was down by the docks, where the beer was warm and stale but the music was spicy? (Or dancing class.)]

What about you, Ginny? How's your night been? And - who was the gentleman who escorted you in?

[She shrugs, twirling away for a bit and coming back before she answers with a laugh.]

Dr McCoy. He's a friend. [And rather quickly becoming another sort of father figure to her in the City.] I didn't exactly have anyone to ask; I mean, I'd have asked Bucky but he's sort of been going through some stuff— [But she's still texting him like a madwoman all night, hoping he'll show up.] —and I was speaking with Dr McCoy and he offered to take me.

[She lifts a hand to rest on the necklace she's wearing.]

Gave me this for my birthday, actually.

It's lovely. [She means the compliment, really; underlined by the fact that she's not syruping this moment up with some friendly flirtation.]

I didn't know it was a plus one sort of event...

I didn't either, honestly.

[She grins.]

I fully intended on making a dramatic solo entrance.
