Spock isn't next to him, but near enough. He has a small pad of paper with him, but leaves it blank and tries to focus on the movie. Sometimes, he steals some of Jim's popcorn, chewing thoughtfully as he watches, offering brief comments regarding the design of spacecraft and speculation on the philosophy that forms the basis of Jedi teachings. Jim talks over much of it, but Spock comments anyway. It's become a habit, when watching a movie, and admittedly Spock is still caught up with how new it is that he's not even concerned that it's outdated.
He hasn't picked a favourite character, but this Kenobi fellow seems to have a good grasp of things.
At the slaughter of the younglings, however, he goes completely and utterly still, preferring to let Jim react for both of them.
