The only problem being that he needs to be discharged from the hospital. This involves locating a doctor who will agree that, yes, he is in good form and really ought to go do some fighting. So not Dr. McCoy.
The Russian snoops around the hospital in the late morning hours, seeking an agreeable doctor and hoping that he won't run into McCoy.]

You're as bad as your captain.
[ and although jim is not necessarily in want of being discharged because he isn't confined to the hospital, the sentiment stands.
he pushes open the door closest to himself, one that leads straight to his office and points inside. ]
In, now.
no subject
Aye, sir.

Sit down. [ he waves gingerly on the chair in front of his desk before he sits down on his own chair, shoving around his paperwork looking for something. ] Where were going and why did you think it was a good idea to sneak out when you should be resting?

Technically, she could probably be released. Mild sedatives and a quiet room far away from mirror creatures and the more recent developments in the City have done Penny some good (even if she has been watching the network, against the better judgment of basically everyone, including herself). She has been assured that both the Welcome Center and Youth Center are being taken care of, along with her dogs and fish. There is no earthly reason for her to feel on edge, drained, vague, and distracted. Penny should not be afraid of leaving her hospital room or reluctant to talk to her friends.
And yet.
She stays in her room, safe and sound, only occasionally glancing at the network. Some kind soul brought some of her clothes and drawing supplies to the hospital to make her visit more comfortable. Drawing--something she hasn't found much time to do lately--keeps her occupied. Just sketches, mostly of the various doctors and nurses who come and go.
There are some darker scribbles that have found their way to the garbage can.]
Mondayish, after her shift at the Welcome Center
[In the very least, with the weather turning a bit colder, Yin looks less unusual in her ever present jacket and other warm gear.]
[She is, however, lacking in flowers, or balloons, get-well gifts. Yin does notice that other people seem to be taking such favors to the rooms they visit and makes a mental note on it. She doesn't understand part of the reason might be for something bright and cheery, though.]
[Yin at least knocks on the door before entering.]
Hello. [She actually used a greeting, too. It was good to greet people, right? Signify her presence. That sort of thing. Luckily, she never had to think of these things when she was at home, or with Hei and Pai.]
no subject
Hey, Yin.
[Her smile is broad and genuine. She pushes aside some sketches ripped out of her sketchbook--they're of Chase, if Yin happens to see them before they're flipped over--and climbs out of bed to give the girl a hug. Penny's in her own clothes rather than a hospital gown and, aside from dark circles under her eyes and a sense of detachment, she looks quite normal.]
It's so good to see you. I'm sorry for ditching like that--the Welcome Center, I mean. I hope that didn't cause too many problems. Are you okay? Have you been staying safe?
no subject
[She did notice the sketches, but makes no comment or inquiry on them. They're not her business, and any bit of caring about them all comes from the fact Penny drew them.]
[At the same time, she manages to note Penny is not dressed like other hospital patients, and the dark circles are a new addition. It's still not something she'll comment on.]
It's no problem. [The Welcome Center is doing all right as ever. A couple of nods. Safe is a relative thing, in the City, and Yin is always okay. She doesn't know how to be anything else.]

Tuesday;
But even if she weren't at the hospital quite a bit lately, she'd have come to visit Penny and check in on her. She knocks on the doorframe, attempting a reassuring smile. She bought a little stuffed rabbit in the gift shop because it felt weird to visit a friend without a gift in hand. It's tucked under her arm. ]
Hey, Penny.
Tuesday;
Joan, hey! It's so good to see you.
Tuesday;
I thought you might want some company.

he's been doing rounds when it comes to visiting patients today and comes up to penny's room next some time before lunch. he knocks on the door quietly and opens it just a little bit to see if she's sleeping or not. ]

And so she's awake when McCoy knocks and, after she has shuffled some papers--sketches--around on her bed to hide certain ones, she greets the doctor with a smile. It's strained.]
Doctor... McCoy, right? Hey there.
no subject
[ he remembers her, of course, and apparently everyone knows the lady that runs the welcome center. mccoy takes one look at her face to know that she isn't as fine as she likes to let others believe that she is. it's a dilemma for doctors should they dip into that kind of personal conversation with their patients, but mccoy's never been hindered by convention. ]
Just checkin' on your vitals today. And you, of course. You feelin' any different?

bones' routine at the hospital is pretty much fixed despite the increase of patients and the danger posing outside. he works early in the morning up until lunch, holes himself up in his office, before working again, checking up on his patients whenever free time allows it. and then quick naps, in case of emergency calls, which thankfully aren't as many now as they have been back when the boneys first popped into the city. he can actually sleep, although that doesn't alleviate the stress all that much.
for once, he'll be thankful when this whole fiasco's over and he's able to sleep for an entire day.
patients at the hospital can find it easier to talk to him as he's checking on their vitals, among other things. fellow doctors and nurses and see him popping up in the cafeteria and staff rooms occasionally, although he really prefers to stay in his office during his breaks. ]

Finishing off a second sandwich, he takes a moment to relax. Just one, then two, and then five minutes have gone by and the captain is starting to nod off in his chair. Easy prey for prowling physicians. ]

from behind jim, bones approached only with pursed lips and a pair of determined eyes that are so not going to take no for an answer. nevertheless, when he got close enough, he only put a hand on jim's shoulder to shake to sleepiness off, and spoke in a gruff voice that isn't quite as gruff as it should considering the state of jim's arm. if anything - and he will deny this to the ends of the earth - it comes out as exasperatingly fond. ]
C'mon, you idiot. I'll fix those wounds before they get infected any further.

But this is Angela and staying indoors for too long drives her insane. Besides, she has friends in the hospital and not even boneys could stop her from being a friend. She does her round of visits, bringing things people need some from, maybe a bouquet of flowers to those who prefer that. Except one person, a certain doctor she's seen flittering around the place for hours on end, looking like he's been run through the ringer and then run over by a truck, gets something a little more substantial than daisies. She'd stayed out of his way for the most part, knowing when emergencies come first, but now that the rush has died down, she pushes her way into his office, styrofoam container in hand. It's slid onto his desk with the same amount of casualness as she slides into a nearby chair.]
Eat it.

he blinks at the styrofoam on his desk, before snorting. ]
Hello to you too, sweetheart. Hoping you like me enough not to poison me in my own office.
no subject
If I wanted to poison you, I would have done it the first time I brought you food. Do you have that little faith in me?
[It's a simple chicken sandwich and salad and stuck in one compartment of the tray, a chocolate chip cookie. Healthy enough that a doctor won't complain about it, but there's chocolate there so that it passes her decent lunch approval. No poison guaranteed.]

[Strapping his phaser to his belt, he goes straight to McCoy.]
Doctor. You are fine?
no subject
[ he is just tired, really, but that's par for the course here.
he leans back on his office chair to take one good look at spock. ]
Sit down, Spock. You injured anywhere?
no subject
[Yeah trust Spock to use a vague word and then scold McCoy for the same thing.]
It is unwise for me to remain here, I will guard the door. It is imperative those creatures do not find a way in.

» october 21st | evening — open.
This is quickly turning out to be the week from hell. [ she grumbles to no-one in particular, herself mostly, as she finally locates that damned coffee pot. ]
