Where: Lucky's.
Rating: Let's say anywhere from PG-13 to R, just to be on the safe side.
Characters: Meyer Lansky, the staff of Lucky's, and YOU!
Summary: There's a party being hosted at the casino. Everyone's invited. It's pretty much a log for everyone to mingle. There'll be some specific location thread headers for people to tag into, but feel free to toss up your own starter and have people come hang out with you.


The party hadn't been his idea, but once the organizing had gotten underway, he'd been pleased with the idea despite his initial reservations. Marguerite had been wise to suggest scheduling it between Christmas and New Years -- it wouldn't interfere with other parties that way, and everyone was already in the mood to celebrate.

And that's why things at Lucky's were in full swing that night. The drinks were flowing, the card games were being dealt quickly, the entertainment was good, and everyone who worked there was dressed just a little more fancily than usual; the proprietor could even be found in a tuxedo, greeting people as they arrived.

And with all of this excitement in the air, there's just one question tonight... are you feeling lucky?

[She turns at the voice and smiles.]

Mr. Lansky. I could hardly refuse an invitation to a party held by you.

[A nod, but it's a modest one, almost self-deprecating.]

Well, I suppose it is being held by me, but I can't take credit for arranging it. I'm not exactly an accomplished party planner.

[ladycroft]

Then you have hired a very good party planner.

She's the new hostess here at the casino, actually -- her name's Marguerite, you may have seen her around here somewhere.

[He looks around the room quickly, but doesn't immediately spot her. She's likely busy welcoming newly arrived guests.]

I admit, I was skeptical about the party idea in general, but it seems to be working out.

[ladycroft]

I think I have, yes. Why were you skeptical? It's the holiday season. Parties are usually part of the celebrations.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

They are, but I figured other people would be having parties, and, personally, I've never been the party type.

[ladycroft]

Really? You were very quick to greet me. I wouldn't be able to tell that you were uncomfortable at all.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

I wouldn't say I'm uncomfortable, per se, but...

[A quiet laugh.]

I've been told more than once -- by my employees, no less -- that I'm in desperate need of 'loosening up.'

[ladycroft]

Events such as this will certainly help you with that.

[She has a sip of her wine and looks around at the decorations and other quests.]

So I assume that means you suggest I have more events like this in the future?

[She smiles at him.]

Do you enjoy parties so much at home, too, or are you simply lacking other entertainment here in the City? I know people get awfully bored here; I certainly do.

[ladycroft]

I'm not usually a very social creature when it comes to such things, but I thought I'd make the effort, given our circumstances.

[She laughs a little.]

That and it has been rather dull since that battle on the mountain.

That's generally how I feel about it, as well. The City does have a way of making us expand our horizons.

[A raised eyebrow.]

Would you prefer more battles, maybe?

[ladycroft]

It does, yes.

[She shakes her head.]

Battles aren't on the top of my list, but sometimes, they are necessary. I'd rather explore.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

Exploration seems relatively limited here. It's not a small city, certainly, but there's only so much you can see here before it gets old. I imagine you'd prefer more freedom in which to explore.

Freedom is always preferable, Mr. Lansky. I haven't explored everywhere yet. I need to stock-up on some supplies first.

Perhaps this isn't the time or the place to be discussing such things. I wouldn't want to spoil to evening for you.

I assure you, you wouldn't be spoiling the evening for me, but it might make your own night more enjoyable to avoid the subject of business.

You're very kind to offer your time, but I wouldn't want to keep the host from mingling with his guests. That and mixing business with pleasure is rarely advisable.
