Log: Ongoing

When; Shortly after Kitty left on her date with Miroku
Rating; PG
Characters; Nathaniel and Bartimaeus
Summary; Bartimaeus goes to have a talk with Nathaniel
Log; Bartimaeus left Kitty's apartment, a plate with a steaming hot bowl of stew in one hand. He knew from experience that Nathaniel couldn't cook for himself even if it meant his life, so, after several tries at figuring how the micro-thingy worked, he made something for the magician to eat and took the form of Ptolemy to bring it over.

Taking the few steps over to the next apartment he knocked on the door, the egyptian boy waiting patiently for once, for Nathaniel to answer the door.

Nathaniel was busy trying to organize the few notes he had on The City, the information he had gathered from various journals, Kitty, and his observations. His studies were slow, but he was certain that they would get somewhere once he hit the right momentum.

So, naturally, it irked him when someone knocked on the door.

With a frustrated sigh, the young magician put down his pen and stood, stretching carefully as his side was still on the mend. He walked to the door, and wrenched it open with an irritable, "Yes?"

Then he paused, briefly surprised. Standing before him in the warm night air was Ptolemy. Or, if you wanted specifics...

"Bartiameus?"

Nathaniel was not pleased. The smug expression on the djinni's face didn't do well to improve his mood. But he supposed he had to let Bartimaeus in now, since he knew that the apartment wasn't empty. Grudgingly, Nathaniel stepped back and gestured inside.

"Go on, then. And yes, by the way. You did. Thanks for that."

Just as the magician was closing the door, he caught Bartimaeus' last words, and he couldn't help but freeze. Snapping the door shut a little harder than he had intended, he turned to face his former servant, an expression of forced nonchalance on his face.

"She went out, did she? Well, then. How kind of you to bring by some food."

The young magician let out a slow breath, willing himself to calm down. He was overacting. What did he care if Kitty went out or not? She wasn't his no more than he was hers. They were friends. Nothing more.

So why was it that he couldn't convince himself of that?

Almost automatically, Nathaniel moved to the kitchen to pull out plates and things, hardly noticing that Bartimaeus had already brought the stew in a bowl. He realised it after he set down a spoon. He also tried to ignore Bartimaeus' comment. He shouldn't be angry about that. It was done, it was past. Ignore it, Nathaniel.

"What brings you by, then?" He inwardly winced at the clipped tone to his voice.
