Naga - Daytime - OTA

[Did somebody say....... barbecue?

While the shindig itself is pretty far from the Beach House where Korra and Naga live, it's not so far that Naga could miss the sweet sweet smell of meat. With Korra off doing some human thing, Naga is on her own. And since Naga is on her own....there's nobody to tell her she shouldn't crash the party.

Say hello to a gigantic polar bear dog, everyone. Also, pass her some meat. Bitches be hungry.]

[logistical]

[That sure is a giant polar bear... which is also a dog? This calls for Science!]

[Spock is cautiously offering Naga some meat on a plate.]

[anatural]

[Naga eagerly takes the proffered meat, surprisingly dainty and mindful of Spock's fingers for a wild animal. She chews, swallows, and then begins sniffing Spock -- not because she thinks he has more food, but because she's never smelled the like of him before. He's human-shaped, but not human-scented, nor does he have that weird human/wolf mix smell some of her friends in the City have.

Please excuse her while she sniffs your crotch, Spock. It's just science.]

[logistical]

[He clasps his hands behind his back and waits for her to finish.]

Hello. I am Spock.

[Maybe she's intelligent??]

[anatural]

[Naga is smarter than your average polar bear dog -- and many humans, let's be real here -- but she's not the most stunning conversationalist. She only recognizes a few words in English, none of which are "Hello. I am Spock."

She finishes sniffing, which doesn't give her any startling new insights, but she files the smells away in case she encounters anything like him later. He's not a fellow predator, which is the most important thing, so she wags her tail in friendly greeting.]

[logistical]

[Perhaps English is simply not her owner's native language. Regardless, Spock can't really guess, and so he carefully reaches to scritch her. Animals aren't unpleasant to touch, in fact, they are extremely soothing for a touch-telepath, however, Spock's never tried petting a polar bear dog.]

[anatural]

[Oooh, oooh, right behind the ear, if you please. Yesssss just like that...]

[logistical]

[Huh. Just like a pet. Which means Spock is keeping an eye and an ear out for the owner.]

[anatural]

[Naga's not going to roll over and demand bellyrubs....but she's pretty close when suddenly she perks up.

Korra!

The young Avatar is jogging down the beach.]

Naga, I've been looking all over for you! What are you doing here?

[logistical]

[Spock turns. Ah, the elusive owner.]

Is this... polar bear yours?

[anatural]

Polar bear dog. [Korra automatically corrects.] And yeah. Her name's Naga. Hope she hasn't been giving you any trouble.

[logistical]

No trouble at all.

[He nods to Naga.]

A hybrid species?

[anatural]

[blink. blink.]

A hybrid of what?

[logistical]

A polar bear and a dog.

[He scritches Naga.]

In my world, there are polar bears, and there are dogs. Not something that is both.

[anatural]

I know what a dog is, but I've never heard of a polar bear. Is it anything like a platypus bear?

[logistical]

[...]

I would assume not.

[anatural]

Huh. Hey, Naga, don't -- [Too late. Naga is already licking Spock's face.]

[logistical]

[Calmly, he waits for her to stop.]

[anatural]

You are remarkably calm about this. Most people get kind of freaked out when Naga licks them like that.

[affectioning]

[ Oh. Hey. It's you. He looks down at the meat on his plate. ] Are you hungry?

[anatural]

[What a silly question! She is a canine and you have a plate full of meat. Of course she's hungry!

She pants a little, looking more pathetic than is actually warranted.]

[affectioning]

[ Setting his plate down, he picks up -- wait ] What do you eat? [ He doesn't know polar bear dogs... He doesn't have any dog food ]

[anatural]

[Naga will gladly take the meat on your plate, friendly human-not-human. In fact, she hopes you weren't attached to your plate, because she's moving her head to eat right off of it.]

[affectioning]

Oh. [ He hadn't met to - can he stop her? Should he? Can she get sick? ] Guess you are hungry.

[anatural]

[Well of course -- she's a dog! She finishes off the plate and gives him a sloppy lick of thanks on his cheek.]
