Summary; Glinda decides that what the City needs is a good end-of-the-year gala.

It was almost 8 o'clock and everything had been set up.

Rangiku and Hotaru had strung up red, white, and silver streamers everywhere and several buffet tables were scattered throughout the area. Someone had suggested the hanging of mistletoe. Glinda didn’t know what its purpose was, but it was so pretty, so she had Rangiku add a few sprigs here and there.

Glinda had already briefed those who had volunteered to act as security. They were to enjoy the party, of course, but if they saw anyone causing trouble, it was up to them to handle it. The fireworks team had brought a lot of pyrotechnics. Glinda prayed they knew what they were doing. And Tayuya was off to the side, warming up.

Glinda had been shocked to see the young girl show up at all, let alone in a dress. As she had promised Glinda, the dress wasn't at all obscene. Glinda smoothed a non-existent wrinkle from her own dress and put a hand to her heart. She was nervous, but tried to reassure herself that everything would be perfect.

She checked the time. 8 o'clock. Time for everyone to arrive...



After the fireworks and before the final dance, Glinda stands on a platform at the front of the crowd. Using a holographic projector set up by Cobray, she makes an announcement to the crowd...

Fellow Citizens... I wanted to thank you all for being here. This has been one of the best nights of my life, and I hope each of you can say the same. It was a lot of work to plan this, but I can't take all the credit. This place is so beautiful thanks to Rangiku and Hotaru. Thank you to Sanji and everyone else who worked so hard on the buffet. I'm sure everyone agrees it was all delicious! To my security team, you did wonderfully. Everything went off without a hitch, thanks to you. Shizune, the gift exchange was wonderfully done. Tayuya, the music was beautiful, and so are you. It warms my heart to see you dressed like a lady. And it's nice to see you use that flute for something other than making threats. Thanks also to the pyrotechnics team. I'm glad you knew what you were doing. If I forgot anyone, I'm sorry. But know I'm grateful for all you've done!

Well, the hour is late, and we only have time for one last dance. But though this is the end of the night, don’t think this is the end of the holiday festivities. Motoko and I have a concert in the works for later this month. Anyone who would like to audition should see Motoko or myself to sign up. Tayuya, if you will...

A note; Glinda's announcement comes just after the fireworks and just before the final dance... so sometime after midnight. Reference to it whenever you want. Thanks to Cobray-mun for that idea. Also, it is not necessary to interact in this thread. Start your own in your journals, just like with the snowball fight if you’d like. Also, it is also not necessary to interact with Glinda if you don’t want to. However, if you do want to, this is the best place, as I won’t be starting my own thread in her journal.

I can't guarantee I'll be home all day. Today is the school band concert and I promised a friend I’d go. But, if anyone needs me, my AIM is christinemasque and my email is phantom.masque98@gmail.com . I believe I might be able to answer email through my cell phone, so if it's urgent, that's the best way to reach me. But, I don't think any problems should arise. *crosses fingers* See you all at the party!~

Isane-fukutaichou and Unohana-taichou were a welcome distraction, and Hinamori made her way over with a small smile before bowing in front of them.

"It's good to see you." Truth be told, she was trying to avoid being alone as much as possible, if only because that left her open to a certain arrancars attention - attention she most certainly didn't want right now - but she had been wanting to see the healer and her vice captain for herself as well. Straightening up she glanced over to make sure Nell was still safely preoccupied before turning her attention back to her fellow shinigami. "You look really nice."

"Momo, you look so great!" Isane smiled broadly at the sight of the shorter vice-captain, dipping her upper half in a sort of greeting, arms in front and hands clasped. "The little Arrancar told me you were going to be wearing something pretty!"

She chuckled nervously, quickly getting used the fact that Nell had in fact managed to chose something nice. "Nell insisted. I could win, she even stole my shinigami robes."

"I hope she hasn't been bothering you too much," she added, "she can ask some pretty wierd questions."

"Oh, no, no trouble!" Isane was quick to assure, smiling. "But... what do you mean weird questions?"

"Ah.." She blushed, glancing away. "I think it's out of her system now, but she wanted to know about dating and... things." She finished vaguely, holding back another nervous laugh.

"But I'm glas she hasn't bothered you. I think since Kurosaki-san is here, she's calmed down a little."

"Oh..." Isane blushed slightly as well, stumbling for something to say. "The... ah... 'birds and the bees'..." She fidgeted, toying with the few strands of hair hanging beaded.

"In that case... I'm very glad he's here..."

Rangiku had slipped free from her conversation with Aizen just in time to move behind Isane and nudge her. "She's quite interesting, isn't she?" A slight smile graced her expression, growing a little more now that she was near her friends.

"It's good to see you all here."

Hinamori bowed slightly to Rangiku, glanicng over at Nell again. "She's certainly happy, at least. It would be nice to be so easily appeased."

It came out slightly bitter, and she didn't bother trying to cover it. They could read it as they wanted. "It's been a while though. I'm glad you've recovered."

Ran returend the bow, sighing softly at the sudden formality from her friend. The bitterness she heard made her expression falter a bit. "No harm done. You know me. I bounce right back... you look lovely, Momo. I'm glad you wore the dress Nell picked out."

"I didn't really have much of a choice after she hid my shinigami robes..." She glanced over at the little arrancar again, frowning slightly as she noticed Grimmjows presence.

"Your kimono is lovely."

"Wa~h!" Isane jumped nervously, not expecting the nudge. But upon seeing who it was, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Ah, Rangiku..." She smiled, one hand on her chest. "It's good to see you too, you look lovely."

Ran grinned and poked Isane again. She loved all her friends dearly, but Isane was the main one she thought needed to relax. "So do you. I love that on you."

Isane blushed heavily, fiddling with some of the outer sheet fabric, shoulders still hunched in a clumsy attempt to shorten her height. At least Rangiku was close.

"T-thank you, Rangiku." She didn't really know what to do with compliments, but at least she'd gotten over denying them. "Are you... okay?" The healer looked her over, this being the first time she'd seen her in person after hearing that she was... well... dead.

"Ah, Matsumoto-fukutaichou." Unohana turned to face the other woman. "The decorations look lovely."

Rangiku bowed deeply to the lovely captain. "Thank you, Unohana-taichou. We were here quite a bit early to get things ready. I'm glad you like them."

Unohana returned the greeting. "You've done a wonderful job. And you look very nice this evening. I hope you're enjoying the party so far, Matsumoto-fukutaichou."

"And so do you, Hinamori-fukutaichou." Unohana returned the greeting. "I'm surprised that little Nell isn't with you."

"She latched herself to Kurosaki-san as soon as she could," she responded calmly, keeping her gaze down.

"She's certainly attached to him." She smiled slightly, sparing a glance in the direction of the orange-haired shinigami substitute. "I'm glad he agreed to come, for her sake."

"Hm, I should have figured so. She was so excited when he arrived."

Unohana followed Hinamori's gaze to see the little arrnacar at Ichigo's side. "And she was attatched to you for some time, as well, Hinamori-fukutaichou. I find it a little hard to believe she was created by Aizen Sousuke. "

"She told me he saved her life."

Glancing over at the healer she nodded in agreement. Nell, while rude at times, wasn't easily recognizable as an arrancar. She really was like a child, and a child that liked company. Hinamori had already woken up to find the small girl in her bed. "I think she was just happy to find someone to trust while she was lost. Tobiume helped, too." Ah, she missed the zanpakuto's presence, to be sure, fully aware of the lack of weight at her waist. "She's every bit as childish as she looks, in the end."

"He did? That must be why she's so attatched to him."

Unohana nodded in a agreement with Hinamori's words. "You know, this is something I never imagined myself saying about an arrancar, but she's quite endearing." Unohana smiled. "She does ask interesting questions, though."

"She has her moments, I suppose."

Hinamori laughed nervously once more at the mention of Nell's questions. The arrancar was honestly more trouble than she looked. "She does... But I can't hold it against her for being curious."

"No, nor can I. They're not bothersome, but sometimes they can become awkward." Unohana laughed in remembrance over the last few questions Nell had asked her.

"Is she going to be staying with Kurosaki-san now?"

"She hasn't- um, she's not asked you anything too silly, has she?" A look of concern passed over her features as she watched the healer, fully aware of the nature of Nell's questions and most of her reasons for asking them.

"I think so, although she told me she might return from time to time to see Yachiru."

"No, nothing I wouldn't expect from a curious child," Unohana said smiling and shaking her head.

"So she has a fondness for Kusajishi-fukutaichou as well? I supposed it shouldn't surprise me. They each remind me of the other, in some ways."
