Since his arrival in the City, Lucifer had not walked the same path that lead to the Underground where he first found himself. The very reason why he was standing in the shadows in the early evening itself amused him. All this much trouble just to get a decent drink, he thought again to himself. So it is with a little impatience that he waited for a jester with the painted face and the top hat to appear and show him the way.

Instead of an outrageous jester fashion, Mad Hatter featured a blend of Victorian and Edwardian clothes. A black vest and shirt with a bowtie on hir masculine flat torso, with a long pair of dark trousers over the womanly shaped long legs. The make-up was still the same: face white with markings and the trademark tear drop of a Court jester. Sie appeared through a wall of the Underground, bowing and taking it’s hat off.

“Evenin’” Belial greeted with a grin. “Ready for the stroll, aren’t we?” Sie looked behind him, in case he had invited someone else. The demon had seen him speaking with Rosiel, after all. “Ah. Lord Protector of Heavens declined your challenge? A broken nail?”

Belial straightened and put the hat on again. Rosiel and his tastes. Who would have thought he would become so fussy. "You should have offered orange juice, instead," sie said, helpfully.

"But one isn't in a hurry to see him," Mad Hatter admitted, "Sheol and the other layers of Hell don't extend in his protective wings. A good thing, one trusts the ruling Satans more than his whims. This way."

The demon motioned the bone path that glowed in the dark. "Beyond the path there are monsters. Powerless but an annoying complication."

"Rosiel isn't my Lord, the only Lord one recognizes is his Majesty, Lucifer," Belial corrected him seriously. Sie didn't like to have any connection with Rosiel, sane or insane, he was Heaven's protector whilst sie belonged to Hell. "Not really. One doesn't know why is this sudden fixation in citrus, but it has been that way since his arrival to this place."

Nor did sie trust it was a sincere obsession. Mad Hatter knew well of tricks to pretend and feign to be obtuse by asking innocuous things.

"The darker side of the City, they claim above. But one would mistrust in those who say they have nothing to hide than those who admit they do."

Belial looked over hir shoulder and smiled at this Lucifer. Ah, so he caught on quick. "Since when demons were trustworthy? Jesters or kings? Honest or liars?" sie asked in amusement.

"That vampire? One never went to his club, but he shouldn't be a problem. Unlike the honorable Lord Protector of Heaven, if you want information. What involves him, has his sister not far behind. What involves her, has his Majesty very close. There is a chain of events."

"There was supposed to be a difference between angels and demons. Then Alexiel said everyone was the same, only demons were more honest about it," Mad Hatter tsked, stopping by the middle of the Bone Path. "This way. The Path leads to one's Circus but serves as a landmark. We could simply appear there, but you could have done that without my guide."

Likely was to see how to move by himself without the use of powers. Mad Hatter thought that was a clever move and stepped into the darkness.

"Most of them only serve themselves," Belial commented in agreement. "Those who don't, end up as outcasts of the system."

The darkness slowly faded to the bright lights of the buildings and shops below. The monsters presences could be heard and felt, but none of them approached to bother the travelers.

"Here we are," sie took hir hat and motioned at the pub that could be read as "The Raven." "Lack of red carpet for you, but they better serve good drinks after bearing one's company."

"Perhaps, it depends of the Master," Belial disagreed. Sie after all, followed Lucifer or so sie thought to do. An ideal image of an angel who would never come back to them.

Hir grin widened to Lucifer's statement. "Ah, but manners do, at the very least?" Mad Hatter tried hir hat on. "Unless you require something else, one would take the leave."
