Log ; Ongoing
When; Early Evening, 19th June.
Rating; PG.
Characters; Riza Hawkeye,
hawkeyedsoldier and Roy Mustang,
flameroy
Summary; Riza has arrived (Finally!) and Roy is not taking any chances. He's been waiting for this moment for a while now, but in true Roy-style, it will probably not work out as he has planned in his head.
Log;
The words replayed in his head as he closed the lid of his laptop. He couldn't say that to her, he had to go and collect her. At least with everyone talking of dead bodies he had a good enough excuse to be a little on edge. Even though it was a cover for how he was really feeling. It wasn't long before he was out of the door, and literally taking the steps through the building three at a time to reach the bottom as quickly as was humanly possible. Though he had to hold onto the railings thanks to his lessened co-ordination.
The door flung open before him, almost as if he hadn't even touched it, and he ran towards the centre of the city, coat floating out behind him. It was quite a distance from his building to the fountain, when he thought about it. Roy wasn't really thinking straight though. His only thoughts were of the fact that he was running to Riza. Realisation hit him squarely in the head about three quarters into his journey, and he slowed to a speed that might have passed for a jog.
Where had this need come from? This ache? He had to remain chilled and calm. If Hawkeye noticed anything different about his actions she would soon pick up on it, and that would be when the questions would start to be asked. He sighed a steadying breath, but before he knew it he had rounded the corner that led into the open space before the fountain. The frown fell from his face the moment he set eye on his First Lieutenant, and he began to walk smoothly to where she stood.

She was surprised when she finally spotted him. He looked completely healed. Well, except for that eye. Instinct told her to salute, but she reminded herself that this was hardly necessary.
"Sir," Riza said, her eyebrows furrowing grouchily, "I thought I told you to stay in bed."
no subject
"Ah. Apparently, The City wishes to complicate things. Is that for me?" He asked, reaching out a hand to the bowl, mostly just to take it off her.
"I think you have arrived here two years before the time that I arrived here. You understand?"
no subject
"Not... entirely..." she said dumbly. It sort of made sense. It certainly explained why he looked so much better. But...
"...So what should I call you now, sir?" Riza asked, protocol taking over while the rest of her brain tried to sort things out.
no subject
"I will explain in more detail." He replied, in answer to Riza's first comment. The second one was rather off putting however, and he stopped in his tracks, like some kind of wall was just in front of him.
"I was... hoping this wouldn't happen." He muttered to himself, head tipping to face the floor ahead of him. It was going to be so much more difficult to explain to her his actions, rather than have to hope she forgave him for what he did.
"Can it wait until we get to my apartment?" He asked, looking round at her gloomily.
no subject
"Of course, sir," she said, incredibly curious now, but not about to press for more. Yet.
Suddenly Riza wondered if Havoc was from two years later as well. And Full Metal. ...Come to think of it, she had heard that Full Metal disappeared.
She was finding herself more and more clueless and it was beginning to irritate her.
"Lead the way, sir," Riza said, trying to keep the aggravation out of her tone.

He was also glad that Hughes was out.
The journey back to his building was a very quiet one, Roy only continued walking, checking very subtly to his side to make sure Hawkeye was still tailing him.
It took longer to get back than it had done for him, obviously sprinting made a lot of difference.
It was only when they arrived at Building #3, and Roy opened the apartment door that he readied himself for the onslaught of questions. He set the bowl on the kitchen counter, and sauntered across to the coffee table, slumping down onto one of the sofas.
"This is my flat. I share it with a lady named Cielo and Hu-- You ought to sit, Lieutenant."
no subject
"Why?" she asked, obediently taking a seat. "You're starting to scare me a little, Col-- sir."
no subject
"After, the incidents, after recovering, after learning that Fullmetal was really gone... I resigned from my position." He told, clearing his throat before dropping his gaze slightly. He must have changed so much, he hoped it didn't scare her too much. She'd said he was scaring her, right?
"I spent from then, until a few months ago guarding an outpost in the North. My left eye seems to show me nothing but the orders I carried out. I'm sure you're familiar with them." Another deep breath. Nearly over now.
"I was actually on my way back to central when I was brought here. There was news of Fullmetal's return, and an attack on Central. I intended to offer my skills. I was actually bothered you would have come from the same time as me, but upon reflection. This seems much worse."

"Permission to speak freely, sir?" she said, fully aware that she wasn't in uniform, but not about to let that keep her from being polite.
no subject
"You've no need to ask permission, Hawkeye." He told, in as calm a manner as he could muster. He couldn't remember a time she'd been this close.
no subject
"Snap out of it, Mustang," she said firmly. "You did what you had to do and might have saved all of us because of it. I won't let you brood over it anymore. After all, it's been two years for you."
She paused and her eyes softened slightly.
"Now eat that soup I brought you. Even if it is two years old."

It had taken Elena a bottle of Schnapps and a long discussion to make him think positive, yet all it took from Hawkeye...
"I think that should be easier now." He told, not exactly pinpointing the reason why it should be easier 'now'. Although, it may have been obvious.
"Ah. Food Poisoning, Hawkeye. I see." He stood to his feet, and placed a hand on the leiutenants shoulder. "Thank you."
no subject
She pointedly ignored the fact that her heart fluttered when Mustang's hand went to her shoulder and cocked an eyebrow.
"Depends on what you mean by poison, sir."
no subject
"Right. Soup then? Not Poison." He told, shuffling past Riza and moving to where he'd left the bowl, he scooped it up. Lifting the spoon there to his lips.
"Still warm." He noted, taking a sip. "I forgot how well you cooked, too... "

Riza glanced around the apartment again.
"I suppose I should start looking for a place to stay, myself," she mused aloud. "It sounds crowded here. Who did you say you were staying with, again?"
no subject
"Place to.." He paused, and gently set his bowl down. "Ri... I transmuted the flat downstairs to join with this one. To create a sort of pen, for some... unicorns a friend is keeping." He coughed lightly, looking away from Hawkeye altogether. "The only other staying here is Maes."
no subject
"...What."
no subject
"I couldn't believe it when I saw him either, and I knew that the dead can roam this City just as freely as the living. It's a very strange place here. There are people from many different worlds, and we have curse days. Strange things happen all the time, but you'll soon get used to it.."
He paused to look at her, lifting a hand to ruffle his hair slightly. "As for a place to stay... I would like to offer a room here."
no subject
"...I don't want to cramp your style, sir. Especially if you're already living with two other people. ...And some unicorns."
no subject
wanted..needed her around. After realising he must have looked like it had just rained on his parade, he brought a smile to his lips, picking up the bowl again to rest it on his thigh.
"Hawkeye, you will stay here. That's an order." He hoped it would wash well.
