SUMMARY: we interrupt your regular Xanadu viewing for the following special reminder: ...the visit ain't over til the bloody plant sings.

That's right: our green belle been giving rather obnoxious titillating performances in Xanadu, to what can only be the... enjoyment... of certain Citizens. Adding injury to insult, it's quite possible that a couple of residents have also captured the plant's tune on film, and now the video's been turned into a network viral phenomenon!

But as Citizens surely know, every grand artist needs a doting live audience: come get dibs on more plant footage? Save someone from its evil clutches? Help a poor soul that's got lost in the gardens' great expanse? Get the plant to sign with your talent agency? Embark on a mystical quest to get it to shut up?

Just put your chlorophyll-tinted glasses on, and anything is possible.


[ ooc: Find whatever excuse to throw your character in Xanadu, tag someone new, and all around: GET IN HERE. Just as a note: hearing the plant is definitely optional, so please don't think it's an overwhelming sound that'd keep your character up at night or some such. It's just a log prompt. XD ]

[He startled her a bit since she was focused on the plant, but by no means was she going to get in range of it so it could snap at her.]

[ Kazu can't really blame her—he's all fascination for Audrey II himself. C'mon, he's fifteen years old and it's a singing carnivorous plant. Some deep thought goes here as he jams his hands in his pockets and regards it from Estelle's side. ]

Hoooh. And what's a plant like you eat?

[ Is it Justin's luck that some loud-mouthed stranger appears just in time to engage the noisy thing? There's smoke trailing from between Frau's fingers, a grin flickering at the corner of his mouth. He taps a spark off the tip of the cigarette, and really, he couldn't be painting a bigger sign of "DIVERSION OVER HERE" if he tried. ]

Not too bad, right?

[ The look of a long coat and no shirt is apparently in season. Unlike Sephiroth, however, Frau carries no bird. He does have a cigarette, and—is he wafting smoke deliberately in the plant's direction? ]

Oh, there's no need to apologize.

[She smiles a bit sheepishly at him before her normal soft expression returns, and she stares at the plant once more. It must be native to this world, or so she thinks. Or perhaps, someone else brought it from their world and planted it here. That wouldn't be a terribly farfetched theory either. So many things running through her head right now...]

It really does. I wonder if we can converse with it?

[And leave it to Estelle to test it out as she calls out towards the plant.]

Hello? My name is Estellise, how are you doing today?

[And she is going to wait for a reply... one that will probably never come. So... plants probably hate her too. Why is she not surprised...?]

Wh—you sure you wanna ask that?

[ The plant, however, cranes warnly in Estelle's direction and croons. Frankly, it should not be allowed for eyeless things to leer like that. ]

[That's... fortuitous, although Frau does get a brief clearly you're out of your mind, assuming you have one look. Not that Justin isn't immensely grateful for the chance to sneak up on the distracted plant--

--and slice off a leaf and a portion of the stalk it's attached to with a pocketknife--

...and get out of the plant's grabbing-range as quickly as humanly possible.

He does have the good graces to look back to see if the noisy distraction avoids the plant's giant teeth.]

Are they teeth? I thought they might be modified trigger-hairs. The singing is more disconcerting.

[He actually looks at the person he's addressing. Who is a girl. Which is problematic.] It--I don't think it's much worse than... than the things I've heard about. Curses.

[Against his better judgment, Justin smiles back. It's very nice of Euphie to be concerned, and he'd like to think she really does like talking to him.]

I won't--I mean, I will. Be careful. I'm good with plants.

[She'd heard about it, but until she was standing next to the thing, she hadn't quite believed it.]

Just when I think I'm getting used to this place, this arrives.

[ The noisy distraction is, in fact, not that far away from Justin himself—apparently more than one hasty retreat was beaten after Justin snagged his sample. He's also, however, wearing an expression not unlike Justin's previously as he peers over. ]

Couldn't be satisfied picking leaves off the regular trees?

Is it possible to get used to living here entirely?

[Don't mind Justin if he looks just a little pleased with himself. He managed to get a decent cut off of the plant in the hopes that he can graft it to something... less annoying.]

Mara. I forgot to ask--how long have you been here?

[Fair enough. Justin feels he has done enough to deserve such a look.]

The regular trees don't have teeth.

Longer than two years. And longer than I can remember as I apparently went home for a time and returned without my memories.

[She understood how disorienting that could be, another reason why she tried to be as kind to Justin as she could.]
