WHEN: Jan. 15 | the Xanadu gardens.
CHARACTERS: Everyone.
SUMMARY: we interrupt your regular Xanadu viewing for the following special reminder: ...the visit ain't over til the bloody plant sings.

That's right: our green belle been giving rather obnoxious titillating performances in Xanadu, to what can only be the... enjoyment... of certain Citizens. Adding injury to insult, it's quite possible that a couple of residents have also captured the plant's tune on film, and now the video's been turned into a network viral phenomenon!

But as Citizens surely know, every grand artist needs a doting live audience: come get dibs on more plant footage? Save someone from its evil clutches? Help a poor soul that's got lost in the gardens' great expanse? Get the plant to sign with your talent agency? Embark on a mystical quest to get it to shut up?

Just put your chlorophyll-tinted glasses on, and anything is possible.


[ ooc: Find whatever excuse to throw your character in Xanadu, tag someone new, and all around: GET IN HERE. Just as a note: hearing the plant is definitely optional, so please don't think it's an overwhelming sound that'd keep your character up at night or some such. It's just a log prompt. XD ]

[Ken decided it was time for a visit to Xanadu, to see the plant life he had heard about. ...there had been no warning about this particular plant life, however, so he keeps his distance, walking way out of grabbing range. Considering the songs the plant sings, despite being curious, Ken doesn't want to get too close and be mistaken for plant food.

He does, however, want to talk to it. It almost reminds him of a Digimon, but they're not typically blood-thirsty.

He notices the woman sitting, hears her speak, and decides this is a much safer conversation to have.]

Lungs...and very sharp teeth.

[She looks up at the reply, her sandwich half-way to her mouth. Stops, and grins.]

Add a few shiny necklaces, and it's like any other famous singer I know.

[He smiles, just a bit, at that, a little more at ease.]

I don't care much for music. Are famous singers also...murderous?

[brobeforehos]

Poor thing...[She laughs a little, and shrugs.]

Some kill with really bad music? But no, mostly they're just big babies with money.

[His smile is more nervous, now, his eyes still on the plant, though it's at quite a distance.]

Perhaps that is for human singers. I'm not sure this plant is bluffing in its song.

Well, a bluffing plant wouldn't be the strangest thing, considering where we're at.

[She eyes him, and the plant far ahead.]

Does it scare you?

That's true. But until I know for certain I think I'll converse with you, instead.

[He nods his head, feeling vulnerable without Wormmon.]

I don't know how to defend against something like that.

Hmm...and yet here we are, listening to it sing.

[She looks back at him, shrugs - sheepish.] My suggestion would be don't go closer than this, don't let it eat you.

Well...I would like to know more about it. Just not at the expense of my life.

[He nods his head again.] I won't. But do you really think it eats people?

[Nods.] Curiosity. You know what they say about curiosity.

[She grins, then waves her hand dismissively.] I couldn't tell you. I don't plan on going close enough to ask.

[He knows of the English phrase and smiles a bit once more.] Yes. And I don't plan to get much closer, either.

Would you mind if I sat with you?

Not at all - sorry I didn't offer it before. Here.

[Scoots over a little and leaves some considerable space on the blanket.]

So, what's your name?

[oceantrauma]

[Before he sits, he bows slightly.]

I'm Ken Ichijouji. It's nice to meet you.

[Then he settles on the blanket, keeping a nice distance, respecting personal space.]

And yours? [At least he's looking at her now, and not staring the plant.]

[That's nice. Polite, too.

Shocking, really, how trusting she is being to perfect strangers today. But then again, isn't she all the time on the network? That's what those conversations are, even if they're from a distance.

Still, he doesn't look like he could do harm; looks more wary of the plant than anything.]

I'm Mae. It's nice to meet you, Ken. Welcome to my blanket.

[Ken has been thinking the same thing lately. Though his conversations are pretty reserved, at times.

And cause harm? Never. He's too gentle. For now.]

I had thought of coming here to the gardens before, but I didn't know it had a singing plant. Maybe it's just for entertainment? Though I'm unsure who would enjoy such a grotesque song.

You'd be surprised. There are some pretty grotesque people in this City, too, I'm sure. Just like in any place - it's certainly become popular.

[She fishes through her bag and takes out her bag of apples, setting them in the middle between them.] Here, have one, if you want. I've had that thought today, too.

[oceantrauma]

[He frowns to that, remembering how he was warned when he first arrived to beware.] Fortunately, I haven't met any unsavory people since arriving.

[He looks at the apples carefully.] Thank you. I appreciate the offer. [He takes the smallest one.]

Don't jinx yourself.

[She shrugs, smiling, and goes back to her sandwich...of which she only has one.] So, you're from Japan, right?

[oceantrauma]

[Another light smile, tension easing further.] Yes, I wouldn't want to do that.

And yes, I am. Where are you from?

I'm from England, myself. I have to admit though, Japan seems like a place I'd want to visit.

Probably more than the City.

[Again, a light smile.]

I think I would prefer to visit England over here, as well. Except I've met a lot of interesting people here I couldn't have met back home.

That's true. People from other ages, worlds or planets - even with the singing plant, it's a fascinating place, right?

That's true. The plant is pretty fascinating as well, even if untrustworthy.

[Is finally focused off of it, though.]

So what is your world like? I imagine there might be some differences between ours, but perhaps there are similarities, seeing as, thus far, countries seem to be the same.
