WHEN: Jan. 15 | the Xanadu gardens.
CHARACTERS: Everyone.
SUMMARY: we interrupt your regular Xanadu viewing for the following special reminder: ...the visit ain't over til the bloody plant sings.

That's right: our green belle been giving rather obnoxious titillating performances in Xanadu, to what can only be the... enjoyment... of certain Citizens. Adding injury to insult, it's quite possible that a couple of residents have also captured the plant's tune on film, and now the video's been turned into a network viral phenomenon!

But as Citizens surely know, every grand artist needs a doting live audience: come get dibs on more plant footage? Save someone from its evil clutches? Help a poor soul that's got lost in the gardens' great expanse? Get the plant to sign with your talent agency? Embark on a mystical quest to get it to shut up?

Just put your chlorophyll-tinted glasses on, and anything is possible.


[ ooc: Find whatever excuse to throw your character in Xanadu, tag someone new, and all around: GET IN HERE. Just as a note: hearing the plant is definitely optional, so please don't think it's an overwhelming sound that'd keep your character up at night or some such. It's just a log prompt. XD ]

[ Focused on her drawing, Ariadne doesn't notice Sephiroth until he says her name. Then she looks up, catching a bit of the wave and returning it with one of her own and a slight smile. ]

Come to see the plant?

[He continues his approach, but comes to a halt a pace or two away from her.]

That wasn't my reason for coming. I was exploring, more or less, but the plant did draw my attention. [He glances back toward it again.] Do you think it represents a threat to public safety?

[ Ariadne looks up again, frowning at the plant. ]

I'm not sure. I mean, it's definitely singing about eating people, and those vines definitely look like they could grab someone. I haven't seen it do either, though, at least not yet.

That's good to know. I'll leave it in peace for now, then. The songs may be grating, but they're harmless enough.

[He glances down at her drawing. The bird on his shoulder continues to sleep.]

You're an artist?

I don't think it's even swearing.

[ There's a slight laugh. ]

Anyone who creates is an artist. But I'm an architecture student, technically.

How civic-minded of it.

[It reminds him of a Malboro, and those are extremely dangerous, but fortunately, this plant isn't mobile and seems to have no powerful attacks. Also, Malboros don't sing. That he knows of.]

True. As architects are both artists and scientists, you could lay claim to either title. A fascinating field of study.

[ Ariadne has no idea what a Marlboro is, except for a kind of cigarette. That's probably a good thing.

His comment has her smiling, though, automatically pleased that someone recognizes her profession for what it is. ]

It really is. Unfortunately there's not much cause to build cathedrals anymore, at least not back home.

[That is a good thing. Malboros are hideous poisonous flying plant monsters.]

Cathedrals. Yes, we no longer build religious structures in my world. There are some still standing, but they're ruins, for the most part.

Utilitarian structures are our most common new constructions, though they're not without their interesting features.

It's not the religious part I'm attracted to. It's the building itself, the design.

I'm more of a classical girl. Modern things are nice, sleek, but they're everywhere. Straight lines, not a lot of curves.

I see. I prefer modern designs and minimalism, myself, but if you're more interested in other styles, I can see how that could be limiting.

It depends on the design, on what the client or an instructor wants versus what I would like to include.

I can relate, somewhat. My own work depends on the orders I receive as well as my own judgment and my decisions in the midst of battle. A very different practice, but the same principle.

As a student, have you had the opportunity to work for any clients thus far? [He knows that some students are able to practice their craft more than others.]

[ Yes, and it was the best thing that had ever happened to her. ]
