Log//Ongoing~
When: January 5th
Rating: PG? Maybe PG-13 since there's going to be a bit of a scuffle.
Characters: Amanda Claire (
electronicly), Akechi Mitsuhide (
silk_in_ebony), Zhuge Liang (
abetterstrategy), and a couple NPC aliens
Summery: The plan for how to get on board and acquire the aliens' logs seemed simple enough when spoken about; Zhuge Liang's magic would help Amanda and Mitsuhide get on board, Amanda would hack the computers, and Mitsuhide would keep the two of them safe. Putting it into place would probably be more complicated...

Log;
Amanda watched out the window, waiting for Mitsuhide to arrive. The door was locked to hopefully slow down any of the aliens who decided to try to make a return trip to the flat she's shared with Waverly who'd been taken not long before. Remembering what happened, she scowled vaguely for a moment before shaking her head to clear it; anger wouldn't solve anything. The best she could do for those who'd been taken was to acquire all the information she could about the aliens, including their logbook. It was that thought which lead to the current plan of somehow managing to get aboard to hack into the alien systems... Magic was an unknown to her, so anything relying on that was in the category of somehow.
She wondered how things would go after he arrived, and the two of them set out to see Zhuge Liang. There wouldn't be much chance to change plans or to turn back after seeing the strategist, but it wasn't like she wanted to. Amanda knew herself well enough to be certain that she would either have a severe attack of conscience or go insane simply waiting for the situation to resolve itself. While she thought about what would happen next, she absentmindedly tapped the bag holding what she plans to take with her; since it was only a few, fairly small things, she doubted that it would effect the magic that would be used to take them there.
An unknown means to allow for dealing with an unknown force... There was something almost fitting about that.

Stepping towards the apartment, he stopped and waited, hoping she'd seen him. His hand curled around his sword hilt, and he took several deep breaths. He was a warrior, a samurai, a guardian of others. This was a part of that duty.
He tried hard not to think of what Megumi would say about him doing this mission.

She was more aware than ever before in the City that she wasn’t a warrior or a hero- only a systems administrator and a cop. One that was going straight into the enemy base while it was still occupied. This was something that had not been done before. Amanda didn’t even want to think about the scolding that Harry, or even Waverly- if she was free- would give her for doing something like this so suddenly. It was her duty to do was best for everyone, but that was cold comfort at a time like this. She knew almost no, if not no, technology of her world was beyond her, but didn’t know if the same would be true of the aliens’.
“Mitsuhide… I didn’t keep you waiting out there for too long, did I?” she asked, her voice much steadier than her nervous appearance suggested. “Let’s go. The sooner this is over with, the more time there will be to study the logs.”
After speaking, she stood very still to try to regain her composure and show face to face the confidence in her abilities she’d attempted to convey over the network.

He smiled softly, seeing that she was slightly on-edge but understanding it. She was not a warrior, whereas he was, and if he was nervous she was probably much worse. But that just meant she was brave, and he admired courage very deeply. It was a rarer trait than one might expect, and it pleased him to see it in Amanda. They faced quite the challenge, but it would be worth it if they could earn the prize at the end.
"Follow me," he said softly, the gentle tone of his voice a contrast to his shiny army and sword. "Lord Zhuge Liang is waiting for us."
It was not a long journey, even with Mitsuhide on edge and wary of assaults, but when they reached Kongming's apartment he felt himself tense up a little more. He'd never experienced magical travel before and was very wary of what it would feel like.
The samuarai stood tall, flicked a few stray ebony hairs over his shoulder, and knocked on the door.
"My Lord, we are here," he said clearly.

"Good to see you again Mitsuhide; an honour, Miss Amanda," he said, beckoning them in. "Come inside. We have little time to waste. The sooner this reconnaissance is done, the better. I would not want to see either of you hurt."
Behind him, the living room had been cleared, with all furniture pushed aside. In the clear space was chalked, all over the ground, a huge crest filled with Chinese symbols and others of no clear origin. Incense filled the air; it was a pleasant scent but, above all else, one that somehow made one feel alert and awake.
"I have prepared for the spell and am ready to perform it immediately," he continued, picking up his fan and holding it close to his chest. "It is not the easiest of magics, but I shall be able to carry it out fine enough. Are you both ready?"

“It’s an honor to work with you. Thank you very much for agreeing to help us on such short notice, Sir Zhuge Liang…” she replied, looking away from the crest and toward the strategist. “I’ll work as quickly as I can without error.”
She straightened up slightly before continuing, “I’m ready. There’s no turning back now, and I have everything I should need.”
Last Post As Zhugers Until Callback
He gestured with a nod of his head, then took a seat himself, resting in a kneeling position next to a makeshift shrine he had set up. Setting his fan at its midst, he bowed his head... and began to talk rapidly in Chinese.
For a while, there was nothing but the sound of his chant, but shortly a strange glow began to suffuse along the chalked lines of the crest. A few more moments and then the glow got brighter, a strange sound like that of wind blowing, only inside. And then...

He wasn't sure how exactly the magic worked, but it felt like his entire body itself was the wind. No weight or form to it, just movement slicing through the air, through multitude of colours that might or might not have been the blur of the City underneath him. It was strange... but likewise, incredible. Like he was fully free, free from everything, and nothing else mattered. For a moment, something compelled him to want to stay like this forever... but almost as soon as it did, the reasons for not doing so filled his mind.
There was a bang, and then a sudden rush of pain as full physical awareness came back and his arm collided with something hard and metal. He didn't swear, but he winced and placed a hand on his sword immediately.
"Amanda?"

The view had been incredible as what might have been the City below had become a blur of colors and lights. This must have been what the view must be like for birds, or perhaps for the wind itself. It was strange to feel the way the spell was causing her to, but the reason for why they were traveling this way wouldn’t leave her mind so easily.
Upon arrival, she staggered slightly, feeling off balance for a moment and rather surprised that returning to normal awareness hurt.
“Yes, Mitsuhide…?”
She looked around quickly, taking in their surroundings. Slightly ahead of them along the hallway was a closed door… Quietly, she sidestepped to next to the door, and listened for a few moments. The room was quiet, perhaps empty.
“I don’t hear anything; let’s use this room... We might be harder to find in there than just wherever a wire can be connected out here in the hallway.”
Her tone was quiet to try to keep from alerting anyone to their presence. The door was opened a crack, enough to look in and see what looked like a large holding pen with a machine of some sort in one corner.
[OOC: There’ll be alien arrivals after the computer’s gotten into, until then, it’ll be quiet other than just footsteps outside, ok? Nothing too bad, but I think the aliens would be smart enough to notice something was affecting their systems and go looking for the cause since data transfers do tend to slow computers down.]

"All clear; nobody around," he said, though his hand was still firmly on the golden hilt of Raisetsu. "Come in. I'll stay near the door and listen for our enemies. With any luck they'll leave this room as bare as they left it, but behind enemy territory one must always be alert... and we do not know how they operate."
He took a position and kneeled slightly, closing his eyes and using his ears to tune into everything around. Sound would alert them before anybody came through the door, so he needed to concentrate so they were not caught unawares.

Amanda quietly walked inside, and knelt in front of the machine before withdrawing a thin cable, and her laptop from her bag. Fortunately, there was somewhere on the machine that the cable could be attached to within reach.
She typed rapidly, inputting command after command, and choosing the next based on the responses. The first attempt didn’t necessarily work, but it soon became clear that there was a pattern to what the alien systems responded to. Following that pattern, though occasionally needing to pause to think though biting her lip when she did so, she managed to gain entry to the systems. It wasn’t a fast process to get in or to unbury where the logs were kept; it felt like hours, yet was probably a lot less time than that. Finally, it was found, and the transfer began.
“Alright… I’ve managed to start copying their logs into my laptop. Depending on how tightly they watch their systems, they might notice the drain and our luck might not hold for much longer.”
Only moments after she spoke, there was the sound of footsteps in the hall, coming closer, but not quickly. The steps stopped periodically, as if whoever was walking was checking every room…
Since now that all the was left to do was wait, she heard the sound of the steps and tensed up, looking over her shoulder toward the door.
“…please tell me that’s not happening and I’m just paranoid…”
