Log [In progress]

When; May 4, 2008
Rating; PG-13 (I always go with this to be safe)
Characters; Waverly and Mat
Summary; Waverly returns from her errands to a hung over Mat. (The muns aren't quite sure how this is going to go. Hell, the muses aren't sure how it's going to go.)
Log;

She wasn't trying to hide anything. It was probably the twelfth time she'd told herself this. It was a complete lie. She knew she was hiding as much as she could. The words had slipped out without her even thinking. Being forced, it was something that was a natural unpleasantness by now. Or had been.

All the forced companions and wandering hands had stopped many years ago. None of that had occurred since she left that life and betrayed everyone. Rachel, she'd probably ruined Rachael's life. Who knew what her father had done to her. She tried not to think about what had happened to those she left at home, but sometimes it crossed her mind. Sometimes in the dreams ...

She pushed open the door, her sleeves looking horribly dingy as well as the rest of her. Hair scattered out of her ponytail and face darkened by unidentifiable dirt. It had been a long day, and she didn't expect it to be over. Not after what she had said. She picked the door closed with her foot and set what she carried down, resting her body against the door to take in a few calming breaths.

And she was right too. Which was why he'd be having a building fall on him when he got back to his world. For helping those who'd needed it. But, he couldn't bring himself to be any other way. Bloody good nature... Reaching up, he tugged the hair ties from her hair and undid the braids so his fingers could play with the strands.

He gave her a very serious look as he continued to play with the damp strands. "You're right. It is wet." Then he grinned again. It was easy to joke around with her. How long had it been since he'd last been like that with a girl...or a woman? Long enough if he had to think about it.

"I don't mind. It smells nice." He couldn't really say he had his own scent. Though, it was probably better to say he couldn't describe it. But, he liked how she smelled. It was calming and entirely hers. "I like it."

He shook his head and sighed in defeat. "With it being rubbed in like that I don't think it will ever come off. Good thing I like it or this could be a problem."

"That's very good because you see..." He gave a thoughtful pause like this was a hard decision about whether to tell her or not. "...I wasn't planning on leaving. There's food, a bed, and pretty girl on my lap to kiss. It's too nice to leave."

"You don't have to worry about that." He closed his eyes and settled further into the couch. It was amazing how comfortable the thing was.

He shook his head with a smile. "When I like a place it takes some shuffling to get me moving away from it."

"The City just likes to control people." He frowned. Things always seemed to go back to control for some reason.

He opened his eyes and looked at her with confusion. Teach a lesson? "What could it be teaching us?"

He thought about what she said. Really thought about it. In all honesty it made sense. But his thoughts had always been to look for the bad when the good was there. The bad always had to be there. Still, she was right. "There are some good things here...I'd count you as one."

He smiled and leaned his head against hers. "Look. I have my sunset again."

"Your hair and your blushing face. Always a sunset even when it's not time for one." Such words would usually be practiced to flatter a woman into giving him something he needed without paying for it. But for her they were true.
