Lux was decorated and ready to go. It was just waiting a certain birthday girl and her friends.

"It's going to take a lot of drinking to get me to stand up in front of all these people and sing," Tosh laughed. Although considering how excited she already was, maybe not quite as much alcohol as she figured.

"I suppose if you asked me to, though, I might do it."

"I do believe we've got a lot of alcohol," Tony said, looking around at all the people and all the alcohol in their hands.

"Oh no, I'm not. Because then you have every right to ask the same of me and expect me to sing."

"And Ishiah's comping mine too, so I guess I've got no excuse."

Tosh pretended to look disappointed, although she had no intention of trying to talk Tony into singing if he didn't want to. "Well, if you put it like that, I wouldn't want to force you to do something just because you'd feel obligated. Why don't we just go get ourselves a drink and see what happens when the first brave soul decides to drag the karaoke machine out?"

"I can hardly wait to see what happens when you've gone over your limit with alcohol."

Tony nodded his agreement. Not that alcohol had much of an affect on him (which was the only reason he touched) it was a good social activity.

"Maybe I should do a song. Would Iron Man by Black Sabbath be cliche? I love that song."

"You enjoy watching people pass out and drool, then?"

Tosh looked up with an expression of surprise and curiosity, and laughed softly. "I don't think it would be cliche at all. And I'll bet you have a really nice singing voice."

"Oh I have a feeling you're much more amusing than that," Tony kidded her. He bet Tosh got giggly when she was tipsy. Very giggly.

"Maybe someday you can find out if that's the case."

That was unfair of Tony, because...it was true. She did get giggly. Also talkative, and much less inhibited.

"You could always sing for me in private," Tosh suggested. "Which reminds me, we'll have to see if Ishiah will let me borrow the piano after hours sometime. I have a song to play for you."

"You want to play a song for me?" Tony asked, somewhat taken aback. He knew she had been practicing but he hadn't imagined she would want to play him a song. "I'm flattered, I would love to hear it."

"I asked Blue to teach me something it wouldn't take too long to learn," Tosh explained. "Been working on it for a while now. I did tell you I'd play for you sometime, and I meant it."

"I'm sure it will be great," he said. He was really impressed with Toshiko, not a lot of people would do something like learn an instrument after elementary school. "Mathematical prowess is often linked to musical ability."

"That's what Blue said. It's not the mechanics I have trouble with, or the memorization. It's just making it into music, you know?" Tosh shrugged, very pleased to see that Tony seemed to approve. "I enjoy it, though. You know how I like puzzling things out and making them work."

"Some people have different artistic expression," Tony said with a shrug. "I've seen people that write code that if you could understand it, it would bring a tear to your eye it's so beautiful, elegant, and functional."

Tosh's smile grew. "Oh, I love how you put that. It's so true. I don't think people give mathematics the respect it deserves as an art. Or science for that matter. I mean, art and music are all dependent on shape and angle and waveform and measurement, but no one's ever willing to consider how beautiful those things can be just in themselves."

"See," Tony said, smiling in response to her own infectious grin. "Anyone can be poetic about things they're passionate about. Just because you can break everything down into numbers or an equation doesn't make it any less beautiful."

"Exactly! That's why I love your mind, Tony." She leaned up for a warm kiss, then took his hand to lead him off in the direction of the bar. "Remind me to show you all my birthday loot later, too."

"It's good to know that you don't just want me for my body," he quipped. "The way you react to it I sometimes have to wonder. Oh, and before I forget, I do have a present for you, but I have to give it to you later."

Tosh turned and gaped at him for the remark, and then blushed and turned away again, because it wasn't exactly the kind of thing she could deny. "That wasn't intended to prod you for gifts, Tony. I'm just a bit excited about this, is all. Three different people gave me jewelry, and I haven't let anyone but you do that since- for a good while. Also flowers. I mean, I got flowers, not that I haven't let anyone get them for me. Because you get me flowers all the time."

And now she was babbling. Good thing Tony always said he thought it was cute.

Tony just gave another sly smile to Tosh before kissing her forehead. She was always so adorable when she blushed and Tony loved having that affect on her.

"I know that you weren't," Tony reassured her. "But it reminded me all the same."

[ooc: Tony made her a programmable laser cutter so she can machine her own parts.]

Tosh slid her hand into his, and gave him a little bashful smile in response to the kiss on the forehead. It really was too easy for him to get her worked up.

"Well I can't wait to see what it is, if only because I know it'll be wonderful and interesting."

[ooc: Ooh, there will be much delighted squeeing over it.]

Tony gave her hand a squeeze and began to move towards the rest of the guests of the party. It wouldn't be good to hog the birthday girl.

"I think you'll love it. And it will prove really useful too."
