Log; In Progress
When; Saturday Evening [September 20th]
Rating; PG-13 [potentially R for Emille's mouth]
Characters; Emille
bass_on_fire , Kara
punchlikeagirl , Karolina
tofuinthesky , and any others who were invited.
Summary; Emille is in need of some new clothes and a social outing.
Log; Emille didn't have much clothing to her name. Her suit, a black pinstripe outfit that was tailored perfectly to her slender form, a white dress shirt that hung long on her, a pair of dress boots with a one inch heel, and a "casual" outfit consisting of a tank top, ripped jeans, and an old pair of sneakers on its last legs. Today, she opted for the white dress shirt over the tank top, collar crooked, top two buttons undone, and her ripped, form-fitting jeans, faded fashionably and by wear. Her old sneakers still fit like a dream, broken in ever so perfectly, the kind of fit only achieved after years of working them in.
With a cigarette pack tucked into her front left pants pocket and some money in her front right, she headed out the door of her apartment, locking up of course, tucking a cigarette to her lips. She'd walk the whole way, knowing in general where the store was. "Akindo." From what she read about it, it was exactly where she needed to go, and a good place to take a few other shopping friends with her.
Before entering, she'd snuff out the cigarette on the back of her hand, the burn mark on her skin healing over almost as quickly as it was damaged. It was a pain she'd gotten so used to it didn't even phase her. She tosses the cigarette butt into a nearby trashcan, brushes herself off a bit, and enters, thumbs hooked into her back pockets, eyes casually checking the place out.
"... Not bad," she muttered to herself. Just had to see if anyone else had arrived yet.

"Yes or no? I'm thinking yes, but I'm liable to be wrong."

And she did look good, Kara had to admit. She narrowly avoided glancing over to Emille to see what her reaction was. She was hoping Karolina would see by example that it was okay to be an alien or a lesbian and neither was anything to be ashamed about.
no subject
"Gotta side with Kara on this one. Don' think you'll find anyone objectin' to you in that."
no subject
"Well, I think I'll take it," she decided as she turned back to change back into her regular. Karolina knew for sure they caught her blushing. She just hoped they didn't call her out on it.
"So what's next?"
[ooc: sorry! totally forgot it was my turn.]
no subject
"I don't know," Kara said with a shrug. There were a dozen things in the store she could have tried on and discarded or taken home, but she didn't want to keep her friends there against their will.
"Anyone want to get a bite to eat?"
no subject
In fact, as she talks, her eyes suddenly focuses on something several racks over. Emille then moves in on the object of her attention, grabbing at a pair of blue trunks with white flowery designs. Even if it came from the men's section, it was still a good fit for the top she had. This was comfort for her. She slips the trunks into her little pile.

A few minutes after she entered the booth, Karolina came out, swimsuit slung over her forearm. She watched with intrest as Emille walked over to the men's section for something extra.
"I'm sure I could find something to eat wherever we go."
no subject
"Ugh, sorry, "vegan thing" sounds bad," she added a moment later. "I forgot that you're a vegan. Man, Batman would totally be pissed at me for forgetting something like that."
no subject
Emille had followed the sudden "trendy" era of Veganism, trying it out because the way of life had caught on a few years ago... But she always found herself biting into a turkey sandwich she ate herself, or eating a bowl of cereal with regular whole milk, remembering halfway through the "commitment" she'd tried to make. It was a failed experiment in the end. She begins leading everyone down toward the front of the store, toward the registers, smirking.
"Shouldn't be a problem. Considerin' all the types o' people around here, they're bound t'have vegan and vegetarian options."
no subject
"You'd be surprised, Emille," Karolina grinned, poking and prodding at the earring racks that lined the register aisle. "My first night here? I had crackers for dinner because the vegan restaurants are so hard to find. And let me tell you, I searched high and low for a Circle K for their microwaved bean burritos. Couldn't find that, much less tofu."
no subject
Kara might have had a bit of hero worship in her voice, but she couldn't help it. Batman hadn't trusted her at all when she first came to Earth but he had risked his life to save her. And then agreed to train and just... Batman was so awesome.
no subject
Kara's story was unbelievable. Then again, Kara herself was quite unbelievable. The stuff she's been through was insane to Emille, but considering all she'd seen here in the City, none of it seemed too surreal.
"Must be some kinda badass. Pro'lly ain't as goofy-lookin' as his name implies, considerin' that story, yeah?"
no subject
"I'm sorry, Kara. I don't mean to laugh," Karolina began as she placed her purchase on the register counter. "I understand what you mean, but his name... why is he Batman if he can't fly? Because I know of a guy named Spiderman and he can climb walls."
no subject
"Bat's are predators of the night," she explained. "Have you ever seen a bat? They're pretty freaky. Okay, maybe the ears on his cowl are a little silly but trust me, if you saw him you wouldn't think he was silly. Hah, does Spider-man have eight legs and shoot webs from his butt?"
no subject
"Oh man... They can't look nearly as stupid as I'm thinkin' they look."
no subject
It was like some sort of "My World's Superhero is Better than Yours" pissing contest. Good-natured of course, but Karolina had enough experience from living a life on the run to have a couple aces up her superhero sleeve. "Spiderman could totally take Batman to the cleaners."
no subject
"Was Spider-man a superhero before he had powers?" she asked, quirking an eyebrow. "Or did he just decide to get into the gig because he could crawl up things?"
no subject
"Makes me wonder how a lot o' the superheroes I've seen around here get started. Can't always be, 'Hey! I got powers now! Let's fight crime!,' or whatever."
no subject
Emille's thoughts made Karolina pause think herself. Technically, her and her friends could fall under the 'Just got powers and now we fight crime.' banner, but their reasons were so much deeper than that. Then again, could they even be considered superheroes? Only Molly was a mutant, Nico was a witch, Karolina was the alien and Victor... well, Victor was an android. Chase and Gert didn't have powers of their own in the traditional sense; Chase had his father's fire gloves and Gert had Old Lace.
If they were a group of superheroes, they were the most motley crew of superheroes the world had ever seen.
"Sometimes... they start out doing it to right the wrongs of the people who came before them. I guess it just spirals out from there."
no subject
"I can understand that," Kara said. "I totally admire people who join the police and fire department and military and things like that. I mean, they just wanted to help people, you know? It's weird that you never hear about any of them getting powers and staying on the force or something though..."
no subject
With all her stuff on the counter, she then looks over the price tags of her new swimwear, then at the currency in her hand, tallying everything up. She fishes out a bit more, just in case.
"Don't think I could ever do somethin' like that. Then again, haven't found much of a use for my powers except for... y'know. Blowin' shit up and settin' everythin' on fire."
no subject
"Did you just say "my powers"?" she asked, looking at Emille incredulously. Between Kara and Emille just spilling the beans about themselves, Karolina suspected that they just didn't care that they were in front of the cashier-- a woman they didn't know at all.
no subject
"X-ray vision?" Kara joked, smirking a bit. "Do I need to start wearing lead underwear?"
no subject
Emille lets off a wry grin at the comment, then clears her throat slightly as she looks toward Karolina.
"Yeah, 'my powers.' Was kinda a, uh, secret back where I come from... But after seein' a singin' cactus and talkin' with vampire killers, why hide it?"
no subject
"Because people can use it against you? Throw you in jail? Do anything to you!" Karolina lowered her voice and shrugged her shoulder in the general direction of the cashier. "You can't exactly trust this place or the people in it."
