Log; Incomplete
When; Friday, October 24th; Evening
Rating; PG (shouldn't be more)
Characters; Abby
caf_pow_girl and Carlos
westcoastrc
Summary; The two go to Lux for a date.
Log; Abby is all dressed and ready to go. It wasn't that hard really. All she had to do was take off her lab coat after work. Now, she is sitting near the door with her dog at her side on the couch. Not that long ago, she was pacing but decided that typing away on her laptop was more productive. Much more soothing too.
There are always risks to going out on a date with someone you barely know. She'd gotten a stalker several years back because of that. Though, that's why she chose to have them go to Lux. Gren would be there. She isn't expecting Carlos to actually pull anything bad but knowing that a friend would be nearby just in case feels really good. Otherwise, she's actually pretty excited about that.
She does have a question though.
Turning to her dog, she frowns. "Jethro, do you think he's the fashionably late type or the right on time type? I can't figure it out. Never been on a date with a wizard before after all. It's kind of hard to figure out. I mean, I'm fine with either. Just not being stood up. That sucks. So, he better not do that. You don't think he will, do you?"
The German Shepherd looks up at her. He's still a puppy (even if his size doesn't show it) but he's a great listener.

The German Shepherd looks up at her. He's still a puppy (even if his size doesn't show it) but he's a great listener.

"Hi there. Wow. You look hot. Talk about great taste in clothes."
She made a show of checking him out before stepping out and closing the door behind her.

He smoothed his hand down his sleeve before offering his arm to her. "Well, I guess I just clean up well. You're lookin' pretty good yourself."
He turned from the door, but stopped short. "So, which way are we heading?" A slight blush was slowly turning his ears pink, but to his credit, it was the only uneasiness he as showing.
no subject
"Thank you. This way!" Pointing in the direction she was referring too, she tugged on his arm as they started off. The pink tinge to his ears didn't go unnoticed. She thought it was really cute.
"Okay, this is going to seem like a really weird question but are you a huggy person? Because some people aren't. I've found out that I have quite a few friends here who don't like hugs. That's a bit weird. Maybe I should rephrase the question. Do you like hugs?"
no subject
"I'll put it this way, Abby," He looked toward her, the smile never having left his face. "If hugs were to run for president, I wouldn't vote against them."
no subject
Abby didn't even bother to cover up how her face had lit up and was still lit up. When something excited her, he just couldn't manage to hide it. From anyone. And this definitely excited her.
no subject
He heaved a sigh of near-contentment. "So, was I gonna get one? Or do I have to wait?"
no subject
"There. All better." Pulling back a little, she smiled again. "Want another one?"
no subject
He let her pull away, though. He was actually kind of hungry. "No, I think I'm good for now," he said, smiling all the while. If nothing else, this girl was fun to be around. She made it easy to put all his worry aside and just be Carlos. He couldn't remember the last time that had happened.
"I'm starving. Does this place serve food?"
no subject
"No. But Seventh Heaven is close by it. Really close if I remember right. We can go there first. Lux just serves great drinks."
She thought about it for a second then nodded. "Plus, the food is good at Seventh Heaven. I go there for lunch sometimes during my breaks. And I've been there once or twice for dinner. Does that sound good?"
no subject
"So," he started, then paused. So what, he thought. He was no good at this small talk thing. He's never really had any practice. "What do you do when you're not...lab-working?"
no subject
Abby titled her head slightly in thought. "Let's see, when I'm not at work then I'm usually with friends. Lately, I've been spending a lot of time with Gren. I met him several months ago. Or I'm with Jethro Jr. He's my dog. A German Shepherd. He's practically full grown now but really he's just a puppy."
What else did she do? She'd been at work a lot recently. "It kind of depends on whether there is a curse or not. For example, I recently got turned into a dog when everyone was getting turned into animals."
no subject
"I can't complain about the last curse. I mean, 'truth or dare'? Come on." He smiled his cocky smile and chuckled quietly. "If we hadn't played that, we'd never have met."
no subject
"But you're right. My theory is that the curses bring people together. This being brought together worked out more nicely than most though." She had almost forgotten about dating. That would have just been terrible.
no subject
"I would've loved to see what you did that day."
no subject
Carlos was so cute when he got that bashful look on his face. Smile or otherwise. It just made her smile more.
"It was pretty wild."
no subject
He got a mischievous look on his face. "So," he whined in his best impersonation of a four year old. "Are we there yet?"
no subject
"No sweetie. We have to take twenty more steps. Do you think you can handle that?" Because sure enough, the sign saying Seventh Heaven was just ahead.
no subject
"Let's get some grub, chica."
He grabbed her hand and playfully dragged her inside.
no subject
The two of them were noticed right away and led over to a table where she scooted her table closer to his so she could look at what he was looking at on the menu. "Best part is the variety. I usually get that." She pointed so he would know what she was talking about.
no subject
The picture of chicken caesar salad was inviting. It looked pretty tasty, actually. "We don't have this stuff where I'm from." He smiled but quickly hid it.
no subject
Abby looked at the menu the looked at him. What did they have then? Speaking of which, where exactly did he come from? Good questions to ask.
"Where are you from exactly?"
no subject
"Oh," he said, realized she'd asked him a question. All this ... newness was starting to send his mind reeling. "I'm from L.A. Where are you from?"
no subject
Every so often she went back home but that was rare. Really rare now that she was here. going home just really wasn't an option unless the City decided to send someone back.
no subject
He gave a chuckle. Work. From what he heard, the US Army gives out great benefits to it's soldiers. Sure, they send them off to war, possibly to die, but they have nice fringes. "My whole family's back in Los Angeles. I hardly ever see them. I didn't see them much during my apprenticeship, and now...well, almost never."
no subject
He hadn't said anything bad about it yet so it was possible he didn't hate it. But still. It seemed kind of lonely.
"Do you miss being settled in one place?"
