Log; Incomplete
When; Monday, January 5th
Rating; Starting at PG-13. (Might go up...)
Characters; Kincaid
notexactlyhuman and Gabriel
makes_you_tick
Summary; What happens what you make a resolution to find a sparring partner.
Log; The Archive was set-up safely at home. She knew he'd be gone for awhile. And she knew that coming could put her in danger. No matter how kick ass her magical powers were. Kincaid was her bodyguard and that meant he could veto going somewhere.
In the shadows, he relaxed as he kept an eye out the man who was coming to spar with him. He knew next to nothing about him but the mention of his powers had caught his interest. Maybe this would be more than just him kicking someone's ass. Something he'd done twice already. He'd even gone easy on the two he had. This guy though, he could recognize danger when he saw it and this guy had the aura.
Around the area there were hidden blades that he could pick up if he needed them. Guns too. But, he fully intended to start out hand-to-hand first.
Running his fingers through his hair, Kincaid looked through the darkness. He could easily see in this. Like it was daylight. He'd...forgotten to mention that.
Intentionally.

Gabriel needed this. He'd been feeling so lost, between the whole zombie event and Magneto's arrival, and Mohinder's...whatever that was. A good fight would anchor him, and he could get some much needed practice in. He worked on abilities with Peter sometimes, but the man wouldn't fight him- too many bad memories, perhaps.
So he was brushing his fingers along the walls- in the Underground, that could be unpleasant, but it was giving him the information he needed. "Kincaid?" he called out into the darkness, sounding much more tentative than he felt.

It wasn't the most social way to start anything. But, Kincaid wasn't a social person so he didn't care about that. He wasn't being paid to have a conversation here. This was a sparring session. No money involved what-so-ever. Disappointing as that was, he could live with it.
Stepping into better light, which was difficult in the Underground, he studied Gabriel. He wouldn't trust appearances. He was a perfect image of why. On the outside, Kincaid looked human. The reality was that he was a scion.
Half-demon.
"Ready?"
no subject
For instance, he could tell that there was something different about Kincaid, that he was special. It was a different little piece that cried out 'broken!' to his senses, something that made the man not quite human. He could've guessed that from their conversation, but it was good to have confirmation.
"I'm ready," he said with that same smirk. He lowered his head down and waited, wondering how long it'd be before he had to break out his telekinesis. Probably not terribly long.
no subject
"No need for introductions." Without warning, he closed the distance to slam his head into Gabriel's body. The speed of an average human. No need for anything that drastic yet. This was a test.
He'd only hold back a little bit. Anything more was unnecessary.
That thought aside, his hand flashed out in a fist towards Gabriel stomach.
no subject
But this? This was nothing. This was a test, and while Gabriel doubled over rather nicely, and with an appropriately satisfying 'oof' sound, it didn't really phase him much.
Unfortunately, Gabriel's hand-to-hand fighting skills were extremely poor. Wiry Alejandro was more than capable of beating the snot out of him back in Mexico, and Gabriel suspected that Alejandro wasn't that much of a fighter. But Gabriel had his powers now, and he was going to use them.
So he made a small gesture with his right hand, like swatting a fly, intending to telekinetically push Kincaid into the right hand wall, about ten yards away. He could still concentrate enough to use the TK, but a punch to the gut still hurt, so something as unsophisticated as a push would have to do.

One man with superhuman powers. That he could handle. Working under Vlad Drakul had taught him that. As well as the other employers he'd had in the past.
Another crack of his neck then he was running into the shadows. From there he grabbed one of knives he'd hid and tossed it through the air. A sudden crash and the loss of light in the area was a satisfying sparring ground. Two supernaturals. This would be good.
Only one light remained in the area. A dim red one on the wall next to Gabriel. Kincaid shifted his weight as he watched the man curiously.
Could Gabriel see him in the darkness?

He listened for Kincaid automatically, having to remember once again that he couldn't hear any more than a normal person could. Touching the wall again, it was. Unfortunately, with the recent action, it was harder to sort through the information he got back. He crouched and touched his hand to the ground. Obvious, but it'd probably still take his sparring partner awhile to figure out what he was doing.
"You like the dark," he states, rather obviously. He's partially activating his ability and partially waiting for his eyes to adjust to the lack of light a little better. "That's good, I do, too." Skimming through the most recent memories, he could tell where Kincaid's feet have gone, where they stopped, where they were now. His eyes shift in that direction, looking straight at him and smirking once more.
no subject
"Vlad Drakul liked it. I don't care where I am."
Taking his jacket off, he let it fall to the ground. Maybe there was a way to trick that reading ability. Whatever it was doing. Striding forward, his face was completely blank. When he reached the light, it was in complete silence. Moving slowly must make that ability work faster. He'd have to move faster.
Good. It had been awhile since he had last done so. Someone who he wouldn't have to hold back with would be a nice change.
"Now I'm ready too." A smirk then ran full force...twice the speed of the average human...to bodyslam Gabriel.

The body slam knocked the wind out of him. He had to wait a moment before he could think about anything other than lying on the floor. But as soon as he could, he gestured upward, intent on flinging Kincaid up to hit the ceiling. He wouldn't attach Kincaid up there, not yet. Instead, he let the man fall down to the floor.
no subject
Taking the blow, he allowed himself to fall only to get his feet under him for a crouched landing. From there, he sprinted forward to try attacking pressure points and search for weak areas with his fists. If he calculated this right then he could make both arms go numb and leave them non-functional for several seconds.
Enough time for Kincaid to see if Gabriel could pull more telekinetic moves without his hands.
no subject
That was about as much analysis as he was able to make, though, because then there was too much pain. Despite what Gabriel would like to think about himself, he didn't always take pain well. He gritted his teeth, but it didn't last long, settling into a numbness along his arms. That wouldn't last long, either, but Gabriel decided to play it safe.
He looked up at Kincaid like a wounded animal, wishing he had some sort of purely offensive ability- the telekinesis could be used as such, but it was getting boring, and he didn't want to show Kincaid his level of control with it just yet. He let the expression drop and smiled pleasantly at Kincaid. "You're very quick on your feet. What exactly are you? Not completely human, right?"
no subject
"Human. And a damn good mercenary. Keep moving. You've got legs." Who was centuries old and half-demon. That wasn't something he just freely told anyone. They had to earn enough of his respect for that. Gabriel hadn't.
Shifting on the balls of his feet, Kincaid moved back into the shadows. Then kept moving. If he stayed in one place then Gabriel could find him. Did that apply if he continued to move in silence? Never staying in one place? His opponent was interesting. He'd give him that.
And Kincaid would make sure Gabriel never got anywhere near the Archive.
no subject
His nerves are already done bouncing back, so he pulls up a hand and waggles the fingers in the air, showing his opponent that he's fine now. "But you don't have to tell me, I'll find out for myself eventually."
His eyes were adjusting, but it was still too dark to make out much, and Kincaid was doing a very good job of keeping quiet. He leaned down, deciding to try the memory trick again by brushing his fingers against the floor. He caught glimpses, but there was far too much movement for him to pinpoint where Kincaid was now- he could only guess. He continued to look slowly around, ears perked up and listening.
Gabriel decided to wait a moment to see if Kincaid would attack again, preferring a defensive stance.
no subject
Just like any good predator, he slinked through the shadows until he got behind Gabriel before running up to him again. It was without warning though. To battle against special abilities, even in a sparring match, one shouldn't announce where one was coming from. Picking up another knife along the way, threw it so it clanged off a wall to Gabriel's left.
Kincaid was aware that this may or may not work. However, there was more to this man than he was letting on.
It was his job to find out what that was. Preferably before dinner time.

He also stretched out a hand in front of him, intending to pin Kincaid in the air. He just had to catch his opponent first, so he could raise Kincaid off the ground and keep him from moving around for a bit.
Gabriel's expression remained serious but otherwise blank. He was concentrating, and it felt good to be doing so on a fight. A new fight. It wasn't quite as satisfying without the possibility of new abilities if he won, but he'd almost forgotten how fun this could be.
no subject
Kincaid hadn't even broken a sweat or lost concentration or become short of breath. A normal man would have at least had one or more of those going on by now. That was the advantage he had of being a scion.
no subject
He stalked in that direction, hand out in front of him. As soon as he'd be able to get Kincaid in the air, his opponent wouldn't be able to move around on him. Of course, he hadn't been able to show off his regeneration yet...
The rock shot right back in the direction that it came from, quick as a bullet.
no subject
The guy had better control of those powers than he'd let on. He'd been ready for that but the sudden change was almost unexpected. Dodging the rock, he ran back into the darkness. If Gabriel couldn't see him then he wouldn't be able to catch him as easily.
Again, he looked at his watch. Still time.
Aiming his voice so it would echo off the walls (and keep his location hidden as he moved from rock to rock), he finally spoke.
"Nope. Just felt like it."
no subject
"So," Gabriel said, turning his right hand palm up, "Are we going to keep lurking around in the dark, or are you going to attack me? Otherwise I might start getting bored." He raised his right hand and there's the sound of shifting dirt and clacking as the large rock starts to raise out of the ground.
no subject
Climbing onto a ledge, he kept one eye on Gabriel. Dangerous opponents deserved that much. For a second, he stopped long enough to throw on a harness and some rock climbing equipment. From there, he grabbed a gun (filled with blanks) and quickly started climbing the wall and moving across the roof.
Kincaid was careful not to make any small rocks fall to the ground. Gabriel would probably figure out this new trick pretty quickly but he could deal with that.
What he needed to do right now was get closer to that light.
no subject
Nothing? He waves his hand, as if shooing something away, and the rock moved straight forward to crash with intense force with a larger rock settled into the landscape in front of him. The rock splits into many smaller pieces, and each goes zooming through the room, exploding from that central point, on the off chance that one would hit Kincaid.
no subject
Reaching the light, he stayed in the shadows as he grabbed a small device. A light bomb. It would be enough to blind anyone without the right protection for a little while. The person would recover but headaches were possible.
Not his problem.
Once the bomb was in place, he shoved specialized sunglasses on his face. Time to end this. The midget was waiting for him to bring home Chinese food for dinner.
And some new crayons.
no subject
And then he was blind. The light invaded his eyes, his brain. It made him wince and clutch at his head involuntarily, before he realized Kincaid would likely use that to attack him again. Well, let it come. There wasn't anything he couldn't heal (or at least he didn't think there was).
no subject
"Nice sparring. Let me know when you want another round."
Firing the blank, he took off running to go grab the Chinese food. Gabriel could fend for himself when it came to getting a way out of here and back to the City.
