When; The night when Feldt arrives at the apartment! 8)
Rating; PG
Characters; Feldt Grace (
sendmeback ) and Setsuna F. Seiei (
denyinurgod )
Summary; Feldt has something to tell Setsuna about what happens 4 years later
Log;
Of course, he already knew that the world at present was not the world they had been fighting for.
Still, hearing that Celestial Being had been rebuilt (who initiated it, he wondered?) to fight the A-Laws elicited conflicting emotions from him.
And as he stood outside the apartment, observing the stars on that cold, January night, he wondered: Had he really waited that long to fight again? Perhaps he had been hoping, waiting, for change (because the world needed to change, it had to). And from what he had heard from Feldt, four years after the battle at Lagrange 3 and that change never came.
Nevertheless, it was good that Celestial Being had returned to fight conflict; that meant that they were at least still aiming for a better world, and that they were still there, still alive (Tieria, Allelujah, Feldt... Who else had survived?). On the other hand, it merely confirmed that even after four years, the world's distortion was still present, that the world hadn't changed at all despite Celestial Being's efforts.
Perhaps they had been wrong, when they said they could change the world...

He was a brave man, that was certain, and he seemed to have Lockon's respect. As Feldt fastened the scarf around her neck, she prepared herself for any negative outcomes that this conversation would bring about. She wasn't afraid of some explosive temper, or some tense disagreement, so she found her tentative approach and anxiety a bit uncharacteristic. Something to rid herself of.
Perhaps it was because this entire situation was so jarring. Maybe it was because she couldn't get Lockon's words out of her head about Christina Sierra arriving. Then again, with both being of the more introverted nature, she'd never really connected with Setsuna, or any of the Meisters after his death.
She stepped outside, shutting the door gently behind her; careful to be quiet.
This weather could take some getting used to.
"It's quiet tonight." She said over her shoulder, turning to look at Setsuna.

He's never been used to quiet. And his life in The City was composed of something between investigating on how to end the deities, getting through curses, and... somewhat of a resemblance of peace.
A false peace. Although it felt... good, somehow.
Still, it was a fake peace, as fabricated as the peace in their world back home. So even here, he felt as if he must fight, and he should; fighting was the only thing he knew.
He turned to Feldt, wondering what the girl wanted to tell him. He had a few questions of his own, as well.

She wasn't so good at filling in silence. However, she could try. This wasn't a casual conversation, this had purpose, and it was anything but light-hearted. In spite of this, Feldt found herself smiling at Setsuna a bit nervously. It somehow managed to be genuine, anyway.
"I guess because it's so cold," she pulled her scarf up a bit, trying to cover the lobes of her ears, "I should get to the point."
She looked back at the window, just to make sure no one was watching.
"I wouldn't want to waste your time."
no subject
"You're not."
And he noticed the smile, as well. He never saw her smile back then. Not that he had been especially observant of the actions of his fellow comrades, but some changes were hard to miss. That, and how her hair was styled in a highly similar way to that of Christina Sierra. And he recalled the explosion of the Ptolemaios, a distant burst of light during that last battle.
So some crew members of the Ptolemaios had not made it after all...
He fell silent once more, waiting.

"You may be wondering why we've reassembled four years later," Feldt started, resting a hand on her hip, "and I suppose you've not enough information on the A-Laws, though they had been slowly forming at that time."
She let out a sigh, as it was hard not to feel upset about this seemingly hopeless situation. Was ending war a realistic goal at all, in the first place? Or just ending the current wars going on? Was there any way to keep the peace? It seemed against nature, and yet ...
"They are an organization that stemmed from the Earth Sphere Federation, a successor to the UN. Most independent states have had their armies replaced with Peacekeeping Organizations from the Federation, and the A-Laws are under the false pretense of unifying all nations." She wished she had pockets about now, as her fingers were starting to feel a bit frozen.
"They're an oppressive regime, and pockets of rebellion are forming in response. Of course, we've been obliged..."
She once again looked back at the window.

Maybe we had been wrong, he thought again, gritting his teeth and turning away from Feldt. His eyes fell on the patches of snow that lined the banisters, dirty white against the dark, rough surface. Maybe they had been the cause of all this. Nevertheless...
"Celestial Being and the Gundams exist to eradicate all sources of conflict," he stated, turning back to her, eyebrows knitting together. "If the A-Laws are the cause of pain in the world, then we will fight it."
That's right; For the people who have died, and to right the current world, it had to be done. There was no other way.

He was, however, a great pilot, and from what she'd gathered, a relatively intelligent guy. When he'd told her that Haro was going to be the one who would suffer from true loneliness after Lockon's passing, Feldt was interested. Interested that he could have such consideration for something that technically wasn't living, that he'd put his own guilt and pain aside. It had temporarily taken her out of her grief, to consider everything and everyone around her.
He had a hardened exterior, like most of the Meisters. She'd not pretend she understood what was beneath.
"Yes," she nodded, the faith in her voice betraying the uncertainty of her future, "you're right. Our battle is focused on giving our lives, not taking others."

"Hm, I bet you're wondering about Lyle..."
no subject
And her mention of Lyle getting recruited into Celestial Being. He knew that much now. However, did... something happen? His eyes were questioning, wondering what she had to say about Lyle, wondering who found him and recruited him.

She changed her tone to be more reassuring as she rubbed her hands together once again.
"But...I'm sure you had your reasons." She blew against her knuckles, glancing down at the snow-covered ground, then back up at Setsuna's eyes.
asddfs going home now so al;ksdfjsdfkl tag you back tomorrow? xD
He looked away, as well, and for a long while, he was silent. He wondered if this was aligned with Lockon's wishes, and whether Lockon would understand why he did what he did. Would be doing.
But she was right; perhaps he did have certain reasons then that he currently did not know of. Perhaps then, it would make sense.
And in the corner of his mind, recruiting Lyle Dylandy... It somehow felt apt.
He glanced back at her, and then finally noticed how cold she was becoming. Without thinking much of it, he took off his scarf and handed it to her.
|D Sure thing <3!!
Oh.
He was being courteous.
Surprised, but unquestioning, Feldt took the scarf and wrapped it around her hands, nestling them in.
"Thank you." Her words came out quietly. A small shiver ran through her body, but the scarf had been helping quite a bit.
"So ..." She trailed off, wondering if she should bring up Lockon, and just how much he should and shouldn't know. When was the right time? She didn't feel she'd be a good judge of any of this.

The events that had occurred during that day, at their base on the beach shortly after Johann Trinity revealed that Setsuna had been a member of the KPSA, flashed in his mind. Lockon had calmed down and Tieria had left, and that's when he first found out about Lockon's younger twin brother.
"My younger brother is still alive. For his sake as well, I want to change the world."
He thought about it for a while. To bring Lyle along, to Celestial Being. Something like that... Could he be forgiven for doing such a thing?
And then something occurred to him, something he hadn't previously realized. "Lyle Dylandy... What is his codename?"
no subject
"Lockon Stratos." She did not have to vehemently spit out the words; after all, the man was a good man, and he was someone Lockon had cared about. Who cares if a million other things about him rubbed her the wrong way?

She stepped a bit closer again, unsure if he had any more questions.
"He's not much like ... Lockon."

Yet he was who he was, and she could either accept it or continue to pout. It wasn't something she could talk about, especially not with Setsuna.
"I guess not."

And even back then, before he came to the city and when he had been wandering around the world (unsure of whether anyone from Celestial Being was still alive, disappointed by the way the world was turning out), he had not thought that far: that Celestial Being would be reborn (although he knew that if they did, he would return immediately. After all, fighting was all he knew).
He looked away again, to the snow-covered streets before them. A few seconds passed before he finally uttered:
"We should inform Lockon Stratos."
Because he knew he couldn't keep something like that from Lockon, because he was certain that whatever his reasons were for bringing Lyle into Celestial Being, it would be what he thought was right.

"... He's going to be angry, isn't he?" It was more of a statement, since she wasn't very questioning of the fact. Setsuna was obviously ready to face any consequences, and trusted in his own judgment. She felt somewhat more confident because of that.

Whatever Lockon's reaction, he will have to face it.
"We shouldn't delay."
Because she is a gentleman :)
Feldt walked past him rather quickly, eager to get back inside. She held the door open for Setsuna, glad that the other two residing in the apartment (and Haro. Especially Haro) were fast asleep.

"I'll lock it."
A pause, and then:
"We'll tell him tomorrow."
no subject
"Yes, tomorrow." She gave a tiny yawn as she placed the scarf against his hand that was resting on the door.
"... Have a good night, then."
no subject
He gave her a nod and turned to the door, closing it shut and double-checking the locks.
He knew Feldt was right; Lockon would be mad if he knew. But there was little he could do outside telling him, and he couldn't even explain why, at least not right now. Maybe the time will come, when four years will have passed and he finally could give his reasons, but he wondered if Lockon would ever get the chance to hear it.
And deep inside, he felt a tinge of sadness when he considered the possibility that maybe Lockon never will.
