characters; Lelouch Lamperouge [

summary; A strange sighting leads to an even stranger meeting.
log;
The evening had proven beneficial to him; the darkness had the funny effect of keeping most inside, which certainly worked to his advantage. Even if he were untouchable, as much as he himself had proven, there was always the off chance that there could be something awry. There was no room for any error in judgement, and certainly not now when he hadn't yet achieved his goal. There was always the risk, but it was more of a matter of reducing them. The evening guaranteed a low percentage, indeed.
There was always something about an evening stroll in the very late winter that calmed one's nerves, and even after a few moments it had been satisfactory enough that the puffs of smoke rising from that pipe had increased the further he had ventured. He hadn't come across any people then, and of course he had hoped it would remain that way. It didn't matter, he finally decided-- so long as the people he encountered had no malicious intent saved for him, it wouldn't matter. The reduction of risk had mandated that he bring a cleverly concealed and poisoned pin; one never knew, after all, and it saved some trouble.
Just when he had thought that he would not come across another soul, a figure suddenly appeared in the distance ahead-- another one turning the corner onto the sidewalk a few metres before even that other. They were, thankfully, unrecognisable, as the street lights showed him, yet it was no reason not to keep his guard up. After all, the unexpected could and often did occur in this city; to be off one's guard was to invite death. Even he couldn't afford that gamble,

And these menace in front of him were nothing but useless people; drunkards who thought him to be easy picking.
He sneered at them. They had thought he would be easy prey. They thought wrong.
Sliding his hands before his eyes to active the Geass, he smiled at them. "I, Lelouch vi Britannia, order you--" he pointed towards the group of thugs, making sure to make eye-contact with each and everyone of them, "to run like dogs with your tails between your legs. If you can."
It had been a simple order - one that certainly paled in comparison to all the other orders he had issued as Emperor of Britannia - but it was satisfying nevertheless. Regardless of how this rebellion was to go, the power of the Kings, Geass, will certainly have to be utilized once more.
If the deities were going to force their desires on him, then he was going to force their, no, his desires on them.

It wasn't going to be as simple as that, clearly, and the men seemed to take on a more malicious intent as the seconds ticked on. Truly, it was a boring sight; such crimes on the streets were penny-a-day and as commonplace as the fog in London, and this jaded attitude had carried over into, if not intensified within, this city. Quickly, Alexis planned to take the next step in the other direction; it wasn't worth his time at all to interfere.
But then a strange thing happened. With a simple command and a gesture of the hand, the three drunken men did as they were told-- fittingly, they scurried off much like the dogs they were ordered to imitate. A simple action it appeared to be; but Alexis himself knew there was more to eliminating the opposition than an imperious tone and a flourish. There was more to this situation than there appeared to be. He himself smiled faintly and approached forward, clapping his hands together a few times in deliberate fashion.
"Quite the impressive feat...."

He was not, however, about to reveal Geass to this person, whoever he was.
"I suppose," Lelouch said with an air of nonchalance as he turned to this stranger. "But then again... you don't deal with unruly drunkards often, do you?" He smiled then; that mask of innocence put up instantly.

At the least, he could be within the gentry, which, indeed, would be far better than what he had encountered before.
Alexis chuckled slightly, upholding his own innocent façade. "Appearances aren't always fact-- you understand, yes?"

He moved, taking a step forward and intending to walk past this well-dressed stranger. Something about the stranger was positively intimidating, but he really couldn't quite put a finger on it... yet. It was a familiar feeling. Perhaps it was the man's age. This man could have been his father, if going by age alone.
The thought was irritating, to say the least.
"Enjoying a good walk this late too?" he said simply, still keeping that friendly smile for appearances.

Not only that, but there had to be further investigation into that simple prestidigitation.
For now, though, Alexis knew that sudden movement would not do. "Yes, well, I find a good stroll at certain times clears one's mind of the most troublesome things-- you understand, I'm certain," he replied nonchalantly, puffing more on his pipe while scrutinising the lad before him. Perhaps there could be some use for this young man....

"I suppose I can as well, but in this place, one finds trouble rather than other things," Lelouch explained calmly. "Correct?"
He waited for an answer, and while doing so, studied this stranger all the more closely. A part of him knew that the curiosity the man had displayed after seeing the results of his thoughtlessness in using Geass could be... problematic.
Troublesome.
