"Blair," said the smooth, American-accented voice. Adrian Veidt has arrived in only the finest suit cut to his build and in the darkest richest aubergine. "Are you enjoying yourself," he asked, his demeanor ever casual, ever cool.

It was the same as saying I knew you'd make it. Not even death, and all that.

It was hard to believe that this man was a mere teacher, him dressed as a prince like that. Blair quirked an eyebrow at his arrival, even if a smile was blooming slowly on her lips. "Very much so," she replied smugly.

Raising the glass that she had in her hand, her smile turned almost devious. "A toast, to this most successful dance." There was something there between the lines, but she was sure Adrian would be able to read it immediately.

"Good," said Adrian, his own smile hardly smug but clearly they shared the same sentiment for various reasons.

He raised his own, champagne rather than punch, and not the spiked bowl either. The edge of his glass clinked against hers.

"To greater endeavors for those willing to seize the opportunity," he nodded, knowing full well what those lines were.

Blair's smile widened at his words, knowing exactly what he meant. For awhile now she had wondered why someone of such talents and ambitions would settle as a mere teacher, but more and more she realized how much of what she know of him were disguised meant to hide his true self. It intrigued her that someone so close to home could still seem so distant and mysterious.

Clinking her glass against his, she brought it to her mouth to drink. She noticed the taste of alcohol. The punch was definitely spiked but she knew she could hold her drink.
