As if trying to counteract the scandals she has incited, Blair appeared like an angel with her translucent all-white Jean Paul Gautier dress (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/ephemericon/00140m.jpg) and crystal-studded Lanvin choker (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/ephemericon/42486_in_dl.jpg). Adding a dose of edge into the outfit are statement Yves Saint Laurent shoes (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/ephemericon/218915B8I001000.jpg) and clutch (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/ephemericon/BelledeJour177555AB87G1000.jpg).

The world could be coming to an end all about her, but Blair Waldorf would always have flawless make up and a hairdo that is to die for. Of course, no point dressing up the outside when you are not as presentable on the inside (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/ephemericon/40028_fr_dl.jpg) --it was a little something for the boyfriend. Which, by the way, was the very person she was looking for.

Blair could feel the crowd falling to a slight hush when she arrived, but she refused the urge to turn around and hide herself. This was her prom, and not even death's cold hands could pry it away from her.

Chuck and Blair; near end of party

Blair turned at the sound of her name. She did not remember this guy, perhaps he was from Arthur's school, which was more than likely considering the way he carried himself. That suit looked custom-made, too. Charming, she did not know she was so well-known even there. It was an encouraging thought, to say the least.

His low voice made her shiver, though she wondered if it was a good or bad sign. She knew that with Arthur, she felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach, warm. But this felt cold and heavy, an unpleasant feeling she could get addicted to.

Coyly, she smiled, "I only dance with the handsome ones." Then, waiting for an agonizing second, or two or three, to pass, she gave him her hand to take.





Blair raised one eyebrow at that comment. So he must have been watching her for some time. She smirked in return. My, my, look what she caught in her net.

The waltz felt like breathing to her, but she found that breathing around him felt difficult. There was a strange feeling of trepidation at him being around, but also a sense of familiarity. Either way, he was charming but bordering on creepy.

"Have we been introduced before?"





"Chuck," she tried the name on her tongue, and smiled. It felt like a deja vu. "And how did you know my name?"

Blair wondered if it was only her name that he knew. Considering his previous comment, it seemed that he knew her quite well, which was bordering on creepy, but was rather flattering all the same. She just hoped that he was not an enemy of Arthur or anything, that could prove troublesome.





That sounded so much like a thrown-away pick up line, but she could sense the sincerity underneath all the cover. Blair stared into his eyes, trying to get at his core. She fancied that he was just like herself; all tough armor and well-planned words on the outside and a vulnerable human being on the inside --but she was thinking too much.

"I hope you weren't referring to the scandals you've heard." Respectable names always travel slower than the notorious ones, after all.

There is something a little strange about this city that Hari can't quite put her finger on, has not been able to put her finger on in her few short months here. Having transferred for a multitude of reasons, she was behind in everything but managed to do well enough, better than many academically at least, mostly because she had nothing else to do with her time. At Home, she would have gone horseback riding, had forests to wander through--as pointless as it was--, and even a couple friends were there, though most of them were a fair bit older than Hari herself. It seems she is better at getting along with people at least ten years older than her, or so follows her track record. Prone to fidgeting and looking generally not present at social engagements, she appears tentative at best, as if she isn't altogether sure she wants to be here in the first place. She isn't sure, after all, not in the least.

Habit says she should be in her dormitory, preparing to leave in a few weeks' time, reading a book perhaps if she is feeling particularly lazy. Dances, balls, she had these at Home and never quite fit in, but she remembers How These Things Work...mostly. For example, she remembers to wear a dress, and she remembers this isn't punishment--that she came here on purpose, and she remembers that it's not impossible to have fun, even if one isn't entirely in her element. She's better with a rapier in her hand than a sewing needle, and similarly better with equestrianism than dancing, but she knows how to do all these things well enough.

The music seems to switch up between things she is familiar with--something reminiscent of a waltz or the like--to others that she has only encountered upon attending Trinity--this 'pop' and 'rock' and whatever else that doesn't make much sense to her. Oh well. One wonders how she manages to miss out on so many of the pop culture references and much of the know how, being observant, but it can be chalked up to mostly just not caring. She won't be here that much longer after graduation anyway, right? Right.

Keeping apart from everyone else automatically, thoughtlessly, she meanders in and out of the various crowds of students and faculty, reminding herself that a scowl is probably not the expression to be wearing.

Perhaps it doesn't matter, she muses dryly, not expecting anyone to actually see her anyway, not out of insecurity, but because she learned a long time ago how to be in the midst of many people and still go unnoticed. Why? Fair question. Mostly, it's because she realized from an early age at Home that the people who allow themselves to be 'noticed' get encumbered by everything from their thoughts to their actions.

Chuck/Harry dance

It took Chuck some time to locate Harry. At first he thought she didn't make it, maybe failing to find a date to escort her. Which would be a pity, given that he was looking forward to the dance. Or two. Anything really, at least anything he would get away with, without angering Rain and spoiling his chances for a pleasant end of the evening.

He was about to give up surveying the crowd when his gaze rested on a blond girl, standing away from most of the group. She looked similar to the photo he saw on the Network so he decided to try his luck. The worst that could happen was that he would flirt with the wrong girl, maybe collect a phone number. Chuck smirked at the thought and made his way to the girl.

"Harry, you look amazing. I'm glad you made it," he said once he reached her.

Fujioka Haruhi attends the dance mainly because she knows it would be hypocritical of her to not show up after encouraging other people to do so under the impression that it could be a fun experience. She has not ruled herself out for that possibility, but she doesn't really have any standards either. Having been under cover as a boy at Cutlers for a while, a few months give or take, she didn't even think when showing up, dressed in her uniform no less, or 'his' rather. It depends on who she's talking to. Not many people know that the 'boy' is actually a girl, but that's never bothered her, even at her actual school. Low gender awareness is low.

Very.

Having filled a cup of punch for herself, she tastes it only to blink and arch a brow at the taste. It's a little off and, discreetly as she can, she pours it out to the side, on the grass that is, hoping it doesn't do anything bad to said grass. Hm. Well then. She likes Cutlers, maybe more than her own school because it is a bit elite, and with the elite comes certain privileges such as study rooms that are quiet--or that's the impression she has been under. It's actually just lucky she has picked the one room no one goes in, the third music room. Weird, that.

Glancing around, she wonders if fellow classmate Hunny has gone, or one of the people she poke to the other day over the network who considered going but thought they had to have a date, and so on. She hopes they did, and, wandering away from the refreshments, she smiles a little. It is a nice thing that the schools do this once every year, banding together.

Haruhi has always appreciated a sense of unity among people.

Hunny had decided he wanted to go to the dance as well, because it sounded like a really fun time, and everyone would be in a good mood after the exams, right? Right! He and Takashi obviously showed up together, and while he waited for his taller cousin to get them some refreshments he was looking around, trying to find people he knew.

And look, there was that new 'boy' from their school! Hunny made his way over to him and pouncing happily on him let out a delighted "Ha~ru~hi!" ...even if the last part of his name sounded wrong to Hunny somehow, but he shook off the strange feeling and beamed a smile at his friend.

Still without a date, Kate decides to make an appearance tonight anyway. Of course, she would like to see the rest of her classmates, especially the ones who won't be around after the summer; that and she wants to see what this Teddy guy looks like in person. It was important to her that Billy would be happy with anybody he dated and convincing him to ask Teddy to the dance will make it easier on her to find that out. One would think she's his older sister with how protective Kate is when she isn't the least bit related to him and the younger of the two to boot.

Kate, wearing a strapless chiffon dress in her default shade of purple, parks herself close to the sidelines of the dance with a cup of soda in her hand, keeping an curious eye on the punch bowl. Somebody was going to spike it. Kate could just feel it.

That's if they didn't do it already, of course.

Rain was very pleased to see how nicely Chuck stacked up when he arrived to take her to the dance. Good-looking, solicitous, and promising to be great fun after the dance. Exactly what she was looking for. It had been a long haul getting through the University program with more hard work ahead in grad school, so tonight she intended to enjoy herself fully!

He and Rain arrived just in time. They weren't the first ones to show up and the dance was on its way to become a very interesting event. He quickly surveyed the people already present and turned to Rain.

"I won't offer you any punch, it's probably already spiked. At least that's my experience. I do however hope you dance," he pulled her closer. "I love dancing," he said with a suggestive smile.

Naruto/Sakura dance

It was probably the strangest conversation Naruto had ever had with Sakura thanks to the city's curse. At first he felt a little bad that she had forgotten him, but as the conversation went on, he gained a little insight that he was grateful. Hopefully she wouldn't remember anything tomorrow, because he probably deserved a punch.

But he wasn't complaining because he had milked a psuedo-date out of her. Neither of them had mentioned the word explicitly, but he didn't care. As long as he got to hang out with her, it would be fun.

The only thing he was worried about was his clothing. He didn't have any particularly formal apparel. Instead, he settled on his regular clothing minus his usual jacket and with his Flame Coat covering a black t-shirt instead. With the state of mind she was in, she was probably going to think he was a weirdo.

And so he waited by the entrance, looking for his pink-haired friend.

Naruto/Sakura dance

At 8pm sharp, Sakura walked down the row of orange lit trees, marvelling at how much the deities had outdone themselves with the decorations this time. She liked the colour.

She was turning eighteen today... Smiling softly she continued to walk towards the entrance of the building where the ball was held, the soft plies of her dress (http://www.trappingsvintage.com/catalog/black_white_floral_montage.jpg) brushing against the back of her claves as she moved. It hadn't even been her intention to attend. She knew she had to, just for a little while. It was for the sake of their school, and because otherwise Ino would never let it rest. Party on your birthday, and whatnot. But she would be alone, and Ino would be there with her boyfriend, undoubtedly... Well, that was before meeting Naruto, of course. Since she knew she'd have some sort of company, she didn't feel as bad about going.

She walked up the steps briskly, and saw him inmediately. It would've been impossible not to. "You're very...orange," she voiced, as soon as she reached his side. Was he trying to blind Yuuki into noticing her? Still, she had to smirk a bit at it. No-one at her school would dare pull something like that.

So she was here. Without a date. So sue her. I mean, it wasn’t mandatory, right? And top it up with the fact that the guy she was currently maybe starting to develop feelings for was a) a vampire, and b) never around unless it was to deliver a cryptic message. Whoever said highschool plus slaying wasn’t hard?

Buffy stood somewhat awkwardly, wishing she’d stopped by Willow’s first to pick her up instead of expecting to meet her at the dance. She nursed a cup of juice, which was admittedly lame but she’d had her fair share of parties with alcohol anyways.

This was a bad idea. She was quickly becoming That Girl, the one in the corner all night despite the dress she’d spent half her allowance on. Note to self, never follow the fun-jonesing instincts. That only leads to awkwardness.

Okay, so he wasn't at all attracted to the opposite sex and dancing with high schoolers wasn't exactly his plan for tonight, but the girl was practically radiating awkwardness and misery and let it never be said that Kyle Brooks left a damsel in distress.

Besides which, he loved to dance with anyone and everyone, and there was plenty of him to go around. He approached Buffy with a smile.

Watanuki and Doumeki

He was very, VERY nervous tonight. For one, he wasn't much of a social person, and he had never been to a dance before. Secondly, he was waiting for someone. And it wasn't just anyone, either. It was a girl, and most likely someone who liked him. She had left a note in his locker, asking him to the dance. That was the whole reason he had come, actually: if that not hadn't shown up, then he wouldn't have gone.

And while he was nervous, he was also curious. Who was this 'Shizuka'? He had never seen a girl named that at his school. Could she be someone from the public high school, or even the girls' school? Was she cute? Did she like him? Would he like her? Well, he wasn't so sure of that last one. He still liked Himawari, even if she wasn't here. But he still would like to meet this Shizuka girl and at least get to know her. So, fidgeting a little in place, Watanuki waited.

James had left to get Morgana a drink. She tried to keep an eye on him through the crowd, but it seemed the entire City -- students and nonstudents alike -- had turned out for the party. She wished she had gone with him; it was going to take him forever to get the drinks and squeeze his way back to her.

Sighing a little softly, Morgana looked around for a familiar face or possible entertainment.

The mating rituals of teenagers haven't interested Henry since he was a teenager himself. He remembers what it felt like to be seventeen and desperately seeking what you thought was love while making a damn fool of yourself in the process. Some of the overtures being made on the floor tonight are as embarrassing to watch as his own attempts had been to experience.

As no one has tried to break the law or school codes of conduct yet, Henry seeks sanity amongst the faculty. He spots the Industrial Arts teacher off to one side and separates from the masses to join him.

"Getting to you already, is it?" he asks by way of greeting.

As usual, she feels not quite herself, but parties and such have never been big things to her. Still, she's there and dressed for the event, a simple and classic 'little black dress' and heels her choice for the evening. The shoes might be a bit high and the skirt a little higher still but she carries the look with dignity and otherwordly grace. Her eyes sweep the crowd as she waits for Reeve, a slight smile on her face.

While not cursed, she's there because he's asked her, so she plans to enjoy as much of the event as she can.

Cursed or not, Reeve had every reason to ask his wife out for the evening. His only regret was that he'd had to duck into the office to submit grades and hadn't been able to spend the afternoon with her.

He spotted her through the crowd and lit up with a smile, tracing his way through to her.

She was too young to be a "mrs.", but it didn't matter. He loved hearing his name associated with her.

Akiha and Chrono

To anyone else, the bright colors would have inspired excitement among the exam-worn students. After days of excruciating studies and final assignments, finally a chance to expel their energy in a stress-less manner. But to Tohno Akiha, such a display appeared gaudy in her eyes. Dressed in a simple red Western dress (http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp280/mb3229/akihadress.jpg), she felt more an anachronism among the younger students as she both waited for her date, and kept watch for Nii-san with his.

Chrono pushed his way through the crowd, trying to find Akiha. Damn Aion for keeping him out so late! He'd slept in much longer than expected and spent the rest of the day rushing to get things ready...like renting his suit. He tugged at the collar of his starched shirt. He always hated dressing up this way, it made him feel uncomfortable and out of place.

Of course, he thought as he stood up straight and looked over the heads of the crowd (thank God he was so tall!), I guess it's my fault I let him keep me out that late, anyway...oh! There she is!

"Akiha!" He waved his hand and worked his way around the crowd, carefully cradling a bouquet of flowers in his other arm. "I'm sorry I'm late!"

Jack eventually wandered down to the dance, despite his protests that he wasn't going to go. Actually, he was after a coffee from the cafe in the square and got distracted by the music.

Still it was fun to lean against a tree and people watch for a bit. Everyone looked like they were having fun.

It was good to hear the students laughing after a week of listening to their sob stories after all!

Dawn is actually enjoying herself tonight. Sure, her choice in dates caused more than a few heads to turn, and sooner or later Wesley will show up to mock her for going on a date with a much older than her gym teacher. Eden hated these kinds of events. She's not even wearing a dress - showing her legs is completely unthinkable - but she's wearing something at least mildly dressy so she doesn't get booted out at the door. She made a beeline for the punch table and wondered if Tony was going to show up.

She looked around, first, making sure no one was watching, before she emptied her flask of vodka into the punch. There was no reason that anyone really needed to be sober tonight, right? Hopefully no teacher would catch her. Besides, she had a whole bunch more vodka where that came from.

Yes, Niko is there. No, he is not dancing. He's not drinking the punch, either, and not because he avoids sugar. Kyle's effort to get him out of his apartment has paid off, although Niko doesn't plan to stay long. He'll put in an hour or so, then head home to his little brother and the take-out containers that are sure to be scattered throughout the kitchen and on the coffee table.

Justin Pendleton had claimed an out-of-the-way corner for himself. As a rule, he avoided dances like the plague, but Blair had--in a very indirect manner--asked him to show up.

And she had smiled at him. Kind of.

He tried to keep his eyes off of Blair, not eager to come off as a stalker. So far, no one Justin could identify as a fellow nerd had arrived. Then again, they likely wouldn't show. Most of them, anyway; Shilo would be attending, but he had heard that she had a date. Not that he was jealous of whoever was bringing her. Would having a hopeless crush on two girls be anything like cheating on them both, or was that allowed?

Justin studied the ground with a good deal of mock interest to avoid staring.

Of course, despite his half-hearted attempts, he knew he'd look good anyway. Estelle didn't deserve to have a bad time at the dance. That was important to him.

He waited patiently in the Square, hypocritical as usual. Earlier he'd shown nothing but indifference to the dance, but here he was, early and punctual and calmly observing the other attendants in their flowing dresses, their stiff suits. Yuri could have laughed- what a strange sort of dance, with all these professors, college and high school students. Hell, he'd even seen middle and elementary school students running around.

Twirling the single pink rose, Yuri almost fell asleep as he leaned against a tree, waiting.

Truth be told, she was nervous. Yuri hadn't even wanted to go, and what if he didn't have fun?

So when she spotted him in the square, she fiddled awkwardly with his clutch, noting that he looked very handsome, even if she wasn't so sure that was the kind of outfit appropriate for a school dance. But she gathered as much composure as she could nonetheless before calling out, "Yuri!"

Looking lovely and feeling awfully out of place, Allison has decided to show up after all... since finals are done, essays handed in, and there's really nothing else to do.
She's staying to the edges of the crowd, halfway looking for people she knows... halfway avoiding them, since they're all probably off enjoying themselves and she doesn't want to intrude on others' fun.

Chaperoning is boring, but it's not the worst fate to befall a person, and Peter knows this as he meanders around, keeping an eye on things, keeping an eye specifically on his sisters when they are in direct line of sights, keeping an ear out for trouble, and so on. He knows many of these faces, though obviously not all of them, but when he spots one particular person, understated but lovely and a student who has always done her best, he pauses to say hello.

"Hello," he says as intended, and he even smiles a little bit too. "I hope you're enjoying yourself," is the addition, and it's true too. The students do deserve a night of fun after all the stress. Logically, it makes sense to reward hard work with something, and why not this? Again, chaperoning isn't very riveting, but seeing a few people he knows and even would admit to liking makes it a little more pleasant. Allison Cameron is one such student, as would be Ruby if she managed to tap into their psychic link and show up at some opportune moment. Oh well. Can't have everything.

For a girl who didn't mind attending the dance without a date, Ginny Weasley looked stunning (http://www.gosee.de/images/content/kh_bb_z6v7563_f541fbc2.jpg). At times like these, it was hard to picture her as the gritty athlete who didn't mind a bit of rain, mud and a kick to the shin if it meant a victory. It goes without saying that the youngest and only daughter of the Weasley family came a long way from her first dance (http://content7.flixster.com/question/48/87/65/4887657_std.jpg); and although she didn't have Harry to share the moment with, it was alright. Or so she tried to convince herself.

The sixteen year old scanned the crowd for familiar faces and found a few. Contrary to popular belief, she did not know everyone, but hey, that's what these things were for, right? Meeting people. Because being alone sucked. Smile, Ginny Weasley. Try to enjoy it.

Peter was there to supply band aids if anyone had a particularly bad dance partner, but otherwise he found himself spending time just walking around, enjoying seeing people happy and carefree after a long term. It happened that as he was walking, he spotted one, Ginny Weasley, who he had spoken to on the network a bit about being without a date but still having fun. He didn't realize it was her, but noting the way she looked at the crowds milling about and dancing, he thought perhaps she might be trying to find someone specific.

That in mind, he approached her, a casual smile there, waving.

"Hi, uh, this might sound rude. I hope not," he laughed a bit. "But you looked like you were looking for someone. Do you need any help?" If it was someone from Cutlers, he might even know them. Or the public school even.

She should have suspected something was off when the insistent invitation had been made, but really, why would anyone suspect anything from someone who barely knew her? Or so she would have thought.

Tonight, dressed in a simple blue (http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/4681/f03c2425880000.jpg) gown, to keep with the mood of the event, and to appear as though nothing was wrong, she allowed Grell to escort her to the dance hall.

She was feeling off-- tense, under her wrap that covered the upper body, hiding the dress for now, wearing the same gift that had been given to her the day prior. Alexis had requested it of her, but she didn't know why it had to be tonight as well. Little did she know of what lay in store for her, and little did she suspect, though she should have.

She had been too trusting, yes, but tonight-- she wasn't going to let things go wrong. They simply couldn't.

Of course, Grell Sutcliff could not be caught dead in anything but crimson. Accented sharp by blacks, he was a stark contrast to his escort- but then again, no matter the color of his clothes, he would always be married crimson- if not by his hair, then by blood herself, that favorite Mistress of his- Well. His personal hobbies weren't exactly for airing publicly. The perks of having a patron such as Alexis Hargreaves can only do so much for protecting one's job and reputation, after all.

"Madam, this is truly an honor." And oh, he wouldn't complain for this task. Keep and eye on her? To keep a beauty in his sight's was no great burden at all. None, and let his fancies take him, as long as he remembered to whom she truly belonged, no?

Morgana was having an amazing time, much to her surprise. Not that she hadn't expected James to be fun, but it had been a rough few days, and she hadn't thought she'd be able to let go enough to have fun.

But James...there was something very relaxing about him. He was fun, intelligent, just a little bit silly, had a great sense of humor...and he liked her. Obviously, and a lot, and there was nothing complicated or dramatic about it. There were no hidden unpleasant surprises. He just liked her, and she liked him.

The song -- a fast-paced club beat -- came to an end and Morgana leaned into his arms just a bit and gave him a smile. "I think I need to catch my breath," she said with a breathless laugh.

James smiled back as she leaned into his arms, giving a small laugh to the statement. Tonight was... amazing. She was beautiful, charming, smart, fun - and she liked him. Everything was going more perfectly than he could have even begun to hope. He had even made much less of an idiot of himself than he thought he would.

He put one arm around her as he escorted her off to the side, ever-so-politely parting the crowd for them to pass through the dancing mob. He managed to work their way over to a row of unoccupied chairs, and stopped by them.

"Do you want to sit down?" He gestured his open arm to a chair, quite happy to leave the other around her.
