He had a point. Having Cal in his class could have been the end of him, but still...

"Hey, I'm just curious to see what it would take for you to call me 'Bobby' for once. Might be worth the price of admission right there."

"If I start calling you Bobby, will you reject any invitations to join the Coalition to Get Niko Drunk?"

Poor Niko. Bobby took pity. "Yes, but I reserve the right to observe their efforts with amusement."

Frankly, Bobby was somewhat impressed that Niko had attended at all and made a note to thank the young Mr. Brooks for prodding him out later.

Niko laughed and straightened up. "Thanks Bobby." It felt strange to address one of the few adults he'd respected growing up by first name. He'd get used to it. Maybe.

"There you go, son, world didn't end did it?"

With a conspiratorial glance around, Bobby motioned to his glass, "And here's a tip, so long as you walk back and forth to the punch occasionally, few bother to check to see if you're refilling, or if the glass is just as full as it was when you got it."

Not yet, Niko thought. There'd been a time he'd feared it would. Thankfully, that was the past.

"I think I might stay empty-handed, if only to keep the opposition entertained."

He looked to Bobby then, and asked, "Will you miss it? All of this?"

With a smirk, Bobby looked forward to the battle of wills. "I will salute your efforts, Niko."

The question's easy to answer, "Yes. Every minute. But time passes, and we have to move on."

"What's next? I'm not really going to have to start thinking of you as Norm, am I?" He couldn't imagine his old teacher simply sitting at home or in a bar, doing nothing.

Bobby smiles at his star pupil. "No, I won't be 'that guy' Niko, don't think you kids would let me if I tried."

He takes a moment, "Thought I might travel a bit, never really got out and really seen the world, maybe come back with slide shows to pester my former students with."

"Slide shows? Would you like some golf pants and an RV to complete the stereotype? A few tour books? A tee-shirt from the Grand Canyon?" He crosses his arms and considers. "The barfly image is less frightening."

He knew it would be, but in all seriousness...

"I thought about goin into a 'private practice' of sorts, private lessons, pick my own students, set my own hours. Just enough to keep me busy, but not enough to make we want to hang a steering wheel over someone's head."

"In other words, no sending you Cal when he's taken out the third fire hydrant in a month. I may still have to stop by from time to time, see how you're doing."

"Please, Niko, if you ever cared for my sanity, don't. I think your brother's a great kid, but he, how shall I put it...attracts vehicular disaster."

He takes a sip of his punch and fixes the young man with a fierce gaze, "You better, or I'll send Ms. Summers out to check on you and she loves dragging staid young gentlemen like yourself out against their will. You can ask Wesley."
