Summary; The dance is upon us and the deities have done their very best to light up the Square. Students and staff alike have been invited, date or no date. Those who aren't cursed may still come to take in the decorations, the food, the entertainment, and the merriment... or they can take pictures for blackmail when this is over.

A good time doesn't necessarily mean fun in the way most people her age might define the word. When he was seventeen he'd gone on a solitary journey into the east. That was a good time and eye opening as well, but fun? Most people would say not, but then again Adrian Veidt isn't like most people. Neither is Kate Bishop, this he knows, this he appreciates.

"No, not tonight. I've worked my way out of it by turning young girls into bright women," he smiles. It's true, at least half of his class scored better than expected.

"I hope you're proud of yourself, then. Not all the teachers at T-Hall can say that."

That's also true, knowing that the majority of Kate's English class flunked the final with flying colors, not to mention a chosen few in her Biology class. She suspects that Mr. Veidt's class is always successful on account of their very charismatic teacher. Who cares about the evil rumor that he liked boys? He's an attractive male in a estrogen-charged environment. All a male teacher needs at Trinity is a pretty face and a fierce sense of style to make the girls pay attention and Mr. Veidt has that in spades.

"I am proud of myself and see no reason to be humble about it," Adrian replies with a smile.

Not only is it about charisma, it's also about making the material challenging while simultaneously being engaging. The rumor that he likes boys may be as strong as his reputation for sharp style but they say he's the smartest man in the world too. It begs the question what the hell is he doing working as a teacher, and a teacher at a girls school no less, but Adrian always has his reasons. These are things he keeps to himself and reveals to no one.

"And you should be proud as well. You're very intelligent and you have excellent potential."

He suspects somehow she has already decided how to utilize both traits.

"Well, yeah, I am. I'm glad you see that," Kate shoots back with a grin.

Cocky, no, confident, but Kate is Kate. She's saved enough people, stopped enough crimes and still was back at the dorms just in time for lights out. If that didn't take intelligence and potential, then what did?

"I wish Mr. Pevensie and Mr. Booth held the same opinion as you did." The biology teacher did call her adept, but adept isn't the same word as intelligent. Mr. Booth was Mr. Booth. There are no words for him that could be said in polite company.
