log; ongoing
When; NOW. April 20th, sometime during the day.
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Kurotsuchi Mayuri (
amoebicide ), Ryuuzaki Umi (
soulofocean )
Summary; So much noise, so much interference. It's just Mayuri's luck that the little mouse shows it is not just a mouse, and just it's misfortune...
Log;
It is deep in the Underground that his lab is hidden, tucked away in some niche beyond the eyes of the common. It's there that he watches, and waits. But never has it been his instinct to merely wait, no matter how he may take his time, calculating.
It only takes the scurry of feet, the irritant of noise that shouldn't exist to pique his interest. To peer, with the strangest yellow eyes, into screens and into the depths of darkness. Curious enough that it does little to dissuade him, but he has always been persistent. Watching the girl, observing her abilities that she seems to readily flaunt in her battles against the beasts of the Underground. Mizu no Ryuu, Aoi Tatsumaki, and Koori no Yaiba. Water, and ice. But the source of her abilities was the curiosity (those bursts of energy only just similar to reiatsu).
He would understand, if only to end the lull of his activities within the City.
So now he stands, concealed in the dark with the assistance of his own inventions. The poison he had readied would not kill, but incapacitate; with the release of his Shikai she would be his.
But first would be the test- her skills his to observe, first hand (he noted, with some irritation, that it should have been Nemu to confront the girl first- but he had no time for her recent babbling, her attempts of anarchy). So he waited, until he began to hear the rush of footsteps against the hard floor; his teeth bared in a grin far worse than any beasts.

Stupid, stupid child. But he was watchful, aware of her increase in speed- noting it as another of her abilities. He was aware of her aura- he could think of no better word -that sense, an energy different from his own. But her speed; it was comparable to shunpo, perhaps (all he needed was the source). Like that Quincy, who was able to overtake him, in the past.
That he would not allow.
The speed of her charge was remarkable, so that when she charged, he was already contemplating ending it. But he had more to test. He blocked the blow, again, frowning at the barbaric display. How he loathed battles in such manners, but it was necessary. Without Nemu, he was left with no other choice.
It was unfortunate. He would not be able to observe for much longer.

But that'd have to be for another day. Right now she wanted out of the Underground fast. Not that she'd go before making sure Mayuri didn't bother anyone else ever again.
"Alright. I'm in a bit of a hurry," stepping back, Umi summoned her element. Waves and sprouts of shimmering water seemingly born from her own magical energy swirled and crashed around her, then surged and flowed forth in a giant wave that rapidly assumed the shape of a dragon flying toward her enemy, "Mizu no Ryuu!"

Even as she said the words, he was reaching inside his haori, grasping the small controller placed within. And then, with a triumphant smile, pressed the button and watched as the very walls opened around her, revealing the hidden devices.
It was with a hiss that metal wire uncoiled, firing to crash like steel netting into the walls, or else curl and wrap around her. The dragon was coming in a rush of water that would surely mutilate his body against the walls; drown him beneath it's very might, a thing he didn't have the resources to waste on repairing. Again, a button was pressed, the low hum that had gathered suddenly releasing in a roar. Like thunder; jagged spikes of electricity running along those lines, only magnified by the spray of water to surge through the young girl's body.

How...? The only conscious thought Umi had, aside from fury, was to wonder how long had Mayuri been watching her to understand exactly what her power could do, and how to use it against her.
"Kyaaaaaaah!" Her voice echoed through the hollow space of the Clock mechanism's vowels. The water itself tried to protect her, will her safe from electrocution, but there was little to be done now. The liquid element blocked most of the impact that would have been lethal to her, she guessed. But the harm she suffered was still pretty severe.
Umi fell to her knees, limbs refusing to comply, a rainfall of static electricity hissing and cracking around her. The metal wires wouldn't release her. She fought to gather strength for recovery and wondered if her water dragon would still be able to hit home.
. . . THAT WAS QUICK.
"Bankai," he said simply, watching as the horrendous form of his very zanpakutou- his inner soul, in essence -manifested; clashing with the wave of water. It diverted the water, sending it crashing in a wave around him, though the electricity had dissipated by then; leaving it harmless. The twisted form of Konjiki Ashigi Jizo existed only for a moment, before it seemed to bubble and evaporate, returning to his hand in it's Shikai form. The pronged blade solidified, the poison began to spread, released in smoke from it's modified hilt, as he approached the fallen girl.
"You are still conscious, I see," he observed, slipping past the wires until he stood by her bound form. "But not for long." The air was already thick with colored smog; his body immune to it's affects. Delusions in a weakened state, but the smoke would quickly be inhaled, fogging her mind and sending her into sleep.
"When you wake, girl, remember not to scream," he hissed, raising his sword and striking, to pierce her shoulder. And soon her other arm, her legs. A venomous sting, of paralyzing effects; when she woke, she would not struggle, would not run. His prize, his subject.
And when she slept, she would be taken, and he would finally be able to commence what he had been waiting for.
LOL I'M THAT COOL |D;;;
"...cheap..."
Her voice was fading, conscious thought slipping away rapidly. Hikaru and Fuu, her faces and voices, rushed to her mind as everything else grew dim. But she'd promised... She'd told them... It couldn't turn out like this! She couldn't give up without a fight!
"...not done yet..." In a last feat of sheer willpower, Umi concentrated on her magic, all her strength of heart focused on it. She couldn't summon the power as she should: couldn't speak to call on the actual spell, but this would leave Mayuri with something to remember and perhaps buy her a chance to escape.
The temperature around the entire Clock room dropped unnaturally fast, ice starting to form icicles on the ceiling, frost coating the surface of the walls and the metallic bonds that held her tight.
I BLAME MAYURI.
But it seemed she was not willing to give him that courtesy.
The chill swept in, freezing his limbs. It was such a chill, like the greatest zanpakutou of Ice, freezing everything in it's path. Perhaps not so mighty as Hyourinmaru, but reminiscent. His breath emerged in damp puffs of air, solidifying into fog. "How foolish," he muttered. "You are finished, don't you see?" And now he moved to place his foot against her throat, to squeeze the last remaining bits of consciousness from her eyes.
It was bothersome. He could feel his limbs turning numb, the effects of hypothermia creeping in, even in the body he had so painstakingly made suitable for battle. But, the effects were not yet fatal.
So he bent, movements slowed by the cold, to hold his sword against her neck. The blade was frosted with chill, but that did not make it any less sharp.
"A warning, then. Unless you cease these actions, I will make sure you cannot even scream."
SO DO I. >/ ♥ and crap, I lack icons for this
If she could keep herself wakeful, carry on with the spell, perhaps... there. The wires around her body started to crack just slightly, made weaker by the frost. Either that or her captor would find himself unable to move (or keep up that vicious grin of his) due to the rapidly decreasing temperature. But... then it presented itself. Umi had wondered how long before it happened. There always had to be tough choices involved, right!? Damn.
So what to do here. Her eyes, blurry and tearful from the influence of the poison and fumes, rose to glare at Mayuri, showing him she wasn't afraid. Not for herself at least. But the edge of the sword against her throat reminded her too much of Hikaru and Fuu.
To go back unharmed... She PROMISED. He wanted her alive, didn't he? She was but a precious specimen to him. He wouldn't risk damaging her too much! Could she gamble with time? Could she risk his slitting her throat before the ice rendered him unable to move? What if she calculated wrong?
Her lips twisted into a sardonic smile. Let him take a guess. The whole room was far below zero by now. Unfortunately she didn't have much time left either.
sobbb. D: EVERYONE NEEDS MOAR ICONS
That cruel flash of yellow as he reached into his haori yet again with his free hand, only to emerge with something entirely different. A syringe, filled with clear liquid.
"Do not think I didn't prepare for the possibility that you would resist the effects. No, I always have a second option," here he leaned close, yet again, as Ashisogi Jizo was moved and replaced with the needle.
The cold was truly dangerous, now. Unlike Hyourinmaru, it wasn't concentrated on his sole body. The cold was wide-spread, freezing the entirety of the surrounding space. But his body was not like a humans; he would prevail.
The concoction was injected and he finally stepped back, fully aware of how he'd be forced to tend to himself at his return. The needle clattered from his fingers to the floor, and he sneered before crushing it beneath his heel.
WHY IS LJ SO STINGY 8(
Her head finally collapsed under its own weight, long hair spilled like water onto the frozen floor. It wasn't the end of it. She'd come around sometime later. She knew that whatever poison he'd used would leave sequels. But that wouldn't be enough to stop her from showing him what a mistake he'd made. No one kept her from her friends and got away with it. Mayuri was paying for the pain he was about to cause, and he was going to pay in kind.
At least... Her eyes went shut only after one last look at that foul face. Perhaps to deliver one last message. She wasn't about to be the only one left with scars after this. The temperature took a last atrocious drop before the spell's freezing effects started fading, very gradually.
With that measly bit of satisfaction consciousness left her.
