When; Friday, May 1st, night
Rating; T for Teens And People Who Still Act Like Them
Characters; [livejournal.com profile] politehulk, [livejournal.com profile] repeatshimself, [livejournal.com profile] girlwithabow to host, others to follow.
Summary; Ted has people over to chill. Mario Kart. Dorkiness. Not as exciting as Threnody body shots, but hay, we do our best.
Note: I'm feeling kind of off tonight so tags might be slow, but feel free to mingle amongst yourselves (ie threadjack) to your heart's content. If you want my attention put something in the subject line. Invitees include YA, [livejournal.com profile] fortalkingback, [livejournal.com profile] alittlecredit & whoever he wants to bring, [livejournal.com profile] filmbyzach & [livejournal.com profile] adamantined & whoever they want to bring, [livejournal.com profile] misterblackbird, [livejournal.com profile] peopleskills, [livejournal.com profile] gracedfall & [livejournal.com profile] isabeansprout & [livejournal.com profile] strawberried (do I really want to go there?), and uh no bad guys. BYOB, the Mario Kart is always on so assume games as you like (and of course everything is unlocked), play nice, don't break anything or Ted will go all Hulk on your ass (more like Kate will kick you out). Poke me with an ooc comment if you want in but don't know if you'd be invited or not. Backdating or assuming is fiiiine.
Log;

They had chips, popcorn, pop, water, juice, and coffee. Teddy had checked three times. He'd also changed his shirt at least four times, and his pants once (they didn't match the shirt), and then he'd had to fix his hair. He didn't know why he was so nervous about having a bunch of friends over to hang out, but really he knew it was because he'd never had people over as a kid. And he'd never gone over to other people's houses. He'd been to high school house parties, but it wasn't the same, he'd never felt comfortable in all that loud music and nearly-naked girls. So what kind of parties did people like him throw for other people like him? He had no idea. He was going by what he'd seen on tv and heard about colloquially, which he was aware wasn't entirely reliable. What if people got bored?

Not to mention he'd ended up inviting way more people than he'd originally planned. It was just that, once he'd invited one person he felt guilty about not inviting someone else or maybe forgetting someone and it just snowballed from there. Hopefully they wouldn't fun out of food. Or space. He'd just realized lately how much time he actually spent with Billy and felt bad for all the friends who had been there for him while Billy had been away.

So rather than count the food again he went into the living room and started flipping through his iPod to find something suiable to listen to. You couldn't go wrong with Arcade Fire, right?

Jaime checked that he had the right apartment and poked his head inside, hoping he'd spot Kate right away, or Billy who he'd at least talked to before. This was just what he needed--hanging out with friends, playing video games, snacking, normal stuff. He missed doing that. Even at home he didn't have much time to just hang out with Paco and Brenda without all kinds of crazy interruptions. And having Kara here was great but when they weren't out hero-ing she was more with the wanting to go shopping and less with the wanting to play video games.

He spotted Kate, smiled, and came the rest of the way in the room.

Although she hadn't known him for long, Kate somehow expected Jaime to be the first to show up. The guy was dependable like that.

"I was about to start crying about you not showing up," she greeted him sarcastically with a grin. She hopped down to meet him halfway and gave him a friendly one armed hug.

Kate shook the still-full soda in Jaime's direction. "I would give this one to you, but I already drank from it. Make yourself at home and get one from the fridge."

"So I'm early, can I help it if I have a jet pack?" he said, shrugging and grinning, while a tiny voice in the back of his head (a normal sort of internal voice not the Scarab's voice) went haha I can totally make a jet pack, that still hasn't gotten old. He went and got a can of soda for himself and leaned against the counter.

"Ready to get your butt kicked in Mario Kart?" It wasn't that Jaime was actually feeling that cocky, but he was in the mood for a little friendly competition, and from what he'd seen of Kate she figured she would rise to his bait.

"Not really. I'm more ready to kick your butt in Mario Kart." One day, Kate would get that super competitive streak out her system, just not today. Today was for beating every guest that walked into the place.

"Let's make it interesting. I win, which I will, you buy me lunch every day for one week." Kate spoke as she headed towards the living room. "I lose, which I won't, I do whatever you want for one week. Within reason."

One controller was already in her hand and she held the other one out to Jaime. "What say you?"

Lunch every day for a week. That sounded manageable. He didn't really know what he'd ask for if he won, but hey, he'd think of something. If he won.

"All right then, I accept," he said, taking the other controller with exaggerated solemnity. "You're going down."

Kate just rolled her eyes as she set up the game without even asking him for his side of the bet. She was confident, probably way too confident, but it was a defense mechanism left over from her losing during Caspian's tournament. She promised herself to never lose again, not even at Mario Kart.

"I got Yoshi. And if you hit me with a shell, I swear I'll hit you with a fist, Jaime," she threatened with a smile.

[ooc: Kate is so gonna lose.]

"All's fair, Kate. Let's do this." As the game started he realized he might not have to by lunch for a week. Paco might be the reigning Wii boxing champ, but Jaime ruled Mario Kart, except when Brenda cheated by shoving him.

[ooc: My only exposure to Mario Kart was peeking over shoulders while some friends had an epic DS tournament so I guess we assume how the race goes or you can add some actual details.]

While Kate was good at a number of things, video games were not her forte. At all. That was obvious how she managed to not actually lose to Jaime, but come in four places behind him by the time the digital race was over. A losing Kate was definitely not a happy Kate and it showed on her face as she dropped the controller.

"You cheated!" Kate looked shocked. She'd never lost this much in one week. It must be bad luck. "I demand a rematch!"

Jaime raised an eyebrow. "We can do two out of three if you want, but I'm pretty sure you'll be giving me free archery lessons." That was a good demand, right? Wouldn't cause Kate tooooo much trouble, and it would be something to do when not working or flying around on patrol.

"And I was NOT cheating. Cheating involves more improper use of elbows."
