log; ongoing ; closed
When; June 6, morning
Rating; PG
Characters; Yuri Lowell [
notflynn] and Leon Magnus [
roseofseingald]
Summary; Yuri and Leon bond like real men - through fighting.
Log; Admittedly, it had been a while since he looked forward to sparring with someone. Monsters didn't cut it- they didn't provide the same thrill he felt when sparring with Flynn, when cutting down intrusive Knights to achieve a better cause, and his blade craved to cross another. Someone with skill. Even better, Yuri was going to fight Leon, that mysterious guy who kept such perfect distance between them. He always carried around that one sword- yet he'd never really seen him use it. Not in a way Yuri was interested in, anyway.
They'd agreed to meet at Xanadu, an oddly pretty place for something like a sword fight. But he liked the seclusion and the space of it. Nobody could get hurt here, and that was what mattered. It was approaching their agreed-upon time, and Yuri was itching to fight. Dein Nomos' weight felt so comfortable and ready in his hand.
He leaned against a tree, clearly visible so Leon wouldn't get lost. Though he wouldn't be lying if he said he wouldn't enjoy seeing Leon get angry at him again. Perhaps he was something of a masochist? Really, it just reminded him of Rita- but just a little. Yuri closed his eyes, the heat of the sun energizing his already restless body. He was ready. He could take Leon on, even months without a proper spar.
Most of all, he was interested in what experiences Leon would bring to the spar as a Knight Captain. He could be in for quite the ride.

Yuri frowned. He had a feeling, though, that although he and Leon lived in separate worlds... their universes were delicately intertwined somehow. It wasn't often that he ran into someone who knew what gels or magic lenses were. Hell, not a lot of people even used gald. The items in his world weren't common, but they weren't exclusive to just Terca Lumereis either. It was only natural to assume that artes spread across worlds, too. But- hey, he didn't have to tell Leon that. "You got me beat. I only learned Dragon Swarm a few months before I got here. Same with Tiger Blade."
no subject
"Hmph. I learned Tiger Blade and Dragon Swarm while I was travelling with my comrades. But I still learned them a long while ago. Though, I'd never considered extending Dragon Swarm into a new arte." Leon was still wary of the similarities between their worlds. There was something completely strange about all of this, what was the meaning behind it? If only someone knew the answers.
no subject
"The more you know, Leon. I have a feeling there's a lot we could teach each other." Yuri shrugged. "Though I'm not one for magic. Just can't do that kind of thing, to be honest."
no subject
That sheath throwing really bothers him.
"Most of the magic that I use is from my weapon," he explained, tapping lightly on Chaltier's hilt to emphasize. He's quiet for a little while, thinking about this and that. He'd like to see if Yuri is actually useful as a comrade, but he doesn't want to say it like that- "Hm. I'd like to train again sometime. Not against each other, but against something else."
no subject
Oh- train together again? Now they were getting somewhere. With a grin, Yuri crossed his arms. "There are some pretty challenging monsters Underground. Probably couldn't take on too many alone, but two is just enough, don't you think?"
no subject
"Hm, that sounds fine. I doubt we'll have a problem if you're able to fight well with someone else. You look like you fight better solo, but I won't know until I see for myself." If they made a regular habit of training, Leon would at least be able to keep his sword skills sharp. But if Yuri wasn't any good at fighting with a comrade, then he'd have to train by himself. Which wasn't bad either, but-
He snorted to himself softly at the thought. Had he really become so accustomed to fighting with others? How pathetic.
no subject
"I do, huh?" Right, Leon hasn't seen how Yuri and Flynn could tear up the field together. He could always save that surprise for another day. "Maybe you're right. Then training together Underground would really do me some good."
no subject
"I can only speak from the experience of fighting you solo. You seem to do well by yourself, but I'll see for myself when we train."
The trees were growing thinner as he neared closer to the buildings. He'd like to sit down as soon as he got back to the apartment.
no subject
"As you wish, Leon." A soft laugh as he taps Dein Nomos against his shoulder idly. He looks up at the tall buildings, still in awe of their sheer size and greyness. "It's been a while since I've had a good sparring partner."
no subject
"A-are you an idiot? That sheath doesn't cover enough of that sword for you to be tapping it against your shoulder! You're going to cut yourself!"
Honestly, Yuri had the worst form of anyone he'd ever met. Not just in battle but outside of it too. Who did things like that naturally? Leon just couldn't make any sense of it. He could only deduce that Yuri was some sort of moron that with no sense of safety.
no subject
He could hear every word out of Leon's mouth said in Flynn's voice. Huh... he must really miss that doofus.

A teasing smirk. He trusted Leon, even if Leon allegedly did not trust him.
no subject
He folded his arms over his chest, all but sulking at his obviously terrible situation. Between Yuri's teasing and Estelle's constant friendly nature, he couldn't get any peace.

Leon seemed thoughtful about it. Was it truly possible that they came from separate places? It seemed too strange, too coincidental that their planets had so much in common. Artes, items, what else?

Leon tapped his chin a bit in thought. If only there were a way to figure out what the similarities meant. Were they maybe from the same universe, only different planets? Had there been some sort of contact between their planets? But surely it would have been in a history book somewhere, and he'd never seen mention of anything like that. How peculiar. He was sure, though, that they're worlds had to be close in some way for this phenomenon.

"I guess it just didn't cross my mind." Or he didn't want to bring it up just then. He wanted to figure things out on his own before asking directly. "The only things close to being called Lens are Magic Lens in my world. Guess things aren't exactly the same. But it's pretty close."
no subject
"Lens are different from Magic Lens," Leon pointed out, hands working at his cape to remove it. He didn't need the extra weight right now. "Lens are an energy source."
no subject
He turned to face Leon and brandished his bohdi blastia. "Aer's ours. It's what powers up this thing here- and my artes."
no subject
"Aer? Has it always been on your planet? Erther didn't always have Lens. It was an energy source that arrived with a comet centuries ago."
no subject
"Man, I'm beat!"
no subject
"Tired over a little training session like that? Don't you think that's pathetic?" Not that Leon was one to talk, he was tired.
no subject
"Right, we can't all be like you, Leon," Yuri joked.
